Only to lure him away as stage one.
Then they lure bohlin away
and slowly all of Korra's friends are taken and destroyed.
Then she is the only one left.
Dun dun dunnnn. Aman you are such an evil evil creature.

It would be awesome if he was the child of one of the originals turned bad. Or at least had a connection in some way.

Not necessarily. Guys are always seen as independent, so even if they end up getting with someone at the end, it doesn't matter.
Not the case for girls, though.
And honestly, I would care less about it if Korra had a different personality.
She acts so strong and tough, I would like to see her stay that way throughout the series. Not fawn over some stupid guy. If I wanted to watch a romance, I'd go watch some Disney princess movie or something. -.-
