AT, how much of a stickler are you for accuracy in the cosplay arena? When entering a cosplay, do you try your very hardest to match a specific reference picture, or merely slap something together and ride on the character's popularity, or repeat item combinations of the past? If you see a cosplay in the arena, how much do you rate based upon accuracy, knowing Gaia is limited?

Accuracy is the first thing I'm looking for besides a reference picture (or how else would I be able to see the accuracy lol). But I keep in mind the limitations and items of Gaia, if something isn't perfect due to lack of items and bad layering, then I'm a little more lenient. When it comes to submitting on my part, I try to match my reference as much as possible.
I just really dislike the cosplays that are slapped together and don't match the reference. Especially when someone says, "This is my version". Well if it's your version then it's not technically a cosplay because you changed the character design.

It's all about the accuracy for me.

You have to look like what you say you look like or just don't bother entering.

You have to match that reference perfectly. At least as best as to what Gaia has to offers. But if your ref has a character with closed eyes, yours better be closed too. Things like eyes, skin tone, and hair have to match. I don't want to see a brunet Captain America when he is obviously blond. I had someone tell me that Cap was brunet in the movies, not true. I found a ref where he was blond. And please make sure that a ref is included. It burns me when no ref is provided and I have no clue as to who the character who.

-sigh- I know what you mean. And the gender bending...and not using the correct gender this week is terrible.

It never needs to look exactly like the reference picture for me, just as close as possible. If it is apparent that user didn't really try then I won't give them a good rating. Sometimes I judge it with a passing glance, in that if it looks close enough without looking at the small details then I will give a good rating.
