rolleyes I cannot believe that there are not more measures put into place to prevent the down voting going on! I am an honest, ethical person & only rate the avi's with what I feel is a true rate. It is really sad the wonderful avatars that are shot down out there because people are so insecure with --& own work <-- as an artist that they have to bring others down! ARTISTS ARE SUPPOSED TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND GIVE HONEST OPINIONS! How they can feel good about what they do? ... THERE IS NO GLORY IN WINNING IF YOU DO NOT HONESTLY DESERVE IT!!!

You'll know when you win because your gold will increase and you'll have a pm from a mod or something telling you congrats and stuff.

You can actullay sit back & see it happening right before your eyes eek I think they need to put better measures in place. I suggest this:
You should not be able to rate lower than a 3 (system should freeze) UNLESS you are willing to comment & reveal yourself & legitimate reason why you feel that submission deserves that rate. This is the only way the arena will EVER be a fair place to compete!

It's an okay concept but the problem with revealing yourself as someone who voted lower than a three is the revenge vote backs. What a lot of people say might help is increasing the price of getting in so that a lot less nubs will be in there downvoting.

Personally, though I hate downvoting, I think the whole point of the arena is to share something you created with others and have a whole collection of avatars you created and were proud enough to enter. It hurts that others may not agree with you and you have a low score but at the same time their opinion shouldn't matter because your entry is your own making. It's your art piece and if others don't like it then they don't have to because you made it.
I placed once and the sad thing was that I did not consider my entry as my best effort and wished that anything else would have placed but mine. But I suppose it's nice that others apparently disagreed with me. XD

THAT STINKS!!! cry Personally, i would NEVER want to win If I dont deserve IT, I just cant understand the down voters frame of mind, I guess they just are not true artists or very serious about the work they do (OR INSECURE) ...

They would not be able to revenge vote below a 3 with this concept because the system wouldnt allow it unless they reveal. IDK< IT WAS JUST A SUGGESTION biggrin I absolutely AGREE with you! We bring our work here looking for honest critisism & take pride in what we do!

well same to me.. at last day 4,2 and more, though that ok I wouldnt win but atleast I were in rank 11, at that made me really happy..but next day..lol wth?? 3,4 no really..in the last day, and it wasnt lover that 4 all week long ..I was a bit sad, because like everyone just sad that cool and all things xDD atleast my avatar werent noob :/ oh common is there even honest people?
there were avis who won that I liked and rated 5 :] glad for them..well maybe u need to be popular in gaia to get better rank xD

I've always thought that a comment requirement for voting below a three would be a good idea if the arena was a focal point of the site. They're not going to waste time programming that, they can't even waste time to program an automatic rollover that actually works XD

Also, you can lie in comments. So you can tell someone that you voted a 5 and actually vote them a 1. Unless you take away the ability for anyone who votes over a three to comment, it would be impossible to distinguish the two if people decide to be dishonest, which they would.

It was in some topic in the SF that I think Asher/Felix posted (can't remember the specific account >.> wink . It was a really long time ago, I doubt that as fast as SF moves it's anywhere near the top 10 pages, hell even the top 100 pages XD But, yeah, he did say that and basically tried to make us look like fools by showing us a chart that "proves" that the average vote is a 3. Yeah, OK, well, if you check out the top ten winners, they're not below a 4. You have to work to get a vote OVER the average, assuming that chart was even real. Personally, with some of the avatars the regulars here make, I would consider a 3 a downvote.

Yes, the feature could be abused like that, but then with the amount of votes people get these days it would be easy to see when people were lying. Although they could use a mule for rating to cover themselves.

I agree that they wouldn't take the time to implement it anyway.

well thanks, all people just sad something nice but in other place..mhm are they jelous that someones avi is just a bit pretyer maybe..well how I sad I didnt want to win, only get some nice rank but maybe its just impossible for me ;D
