Funny how your attacking me when I always used the feature on my entries. There is really no excuse anymore not to use a search engine anymore since browsers adopted the use of going automatically to a search engine if you didn't enter a url with your words. Unless your using a rock for a computer.

EDIT: gotta love typing on a tablet with big thumbs. The only problem is if you just put "L" or any other character name that share a characteristic like a letter, you might get that a few letter/of the similar until you actually see the character. And book-only entries kinda suffer if they don't have art/movie of the character.

If Gaia really wanted to solve this problem of not using the ref image space, they would have made it a setback to enter the cosplay arenas.

No excuse for the person entering not to use it in the first place then.

Book only are different for me ... I will insist on a description of the character mind you and a picture of the cover of the book to show you're cosplaying something without a reference.

Yes they would, and they should.

I take issue with people who enter the arenas without being considerate enough to take the time to add a reference of what they're cosplaying as, you wouldn't enter a real life cosplay without having a reference would you?

Once I was voted down because I couldn't afford white body dye.
But my cosplay was exactly like the character. stare

People also vote down on people's Avis just so they can win in the arenas. For example one guy might ask all of his friends to vote him 5/5 (and he would probably use his mule accounts to vote him up) and he and all of his friends might go vote everyone down just so they won't win. It happened to me once. I had a decent avi and people voted down. So people on the Internet is pretty dumb to do such a thing. No need to ask your friends to vote you up. Just let people's opinions do the voting.

I strongly agree with this. Winning the avatar contest has become some sort of obsession... The same has happened to me too. I also have a decent avi, and still it gets down-voted. At least people should be honest when they do that! scream For example: "Cool avi i give you 5".. and later you notice that your avi's rating has dropped considerably.. It doesn't matter if they give me 1 or 2 stars, I respect their opinions, but at least they should be honest if they feel compelled to tell what he/she gave me.
BUT, I'm not generalizing things here. Of course there are some wise people, who want to participate in the arena with pure honor and healthy sense of competition smile

Exactly my point. I want to be told how to fix my so called "bad" avatars in the cosplay arena to make them better, not be rated down without knowing what I supposedly did so wrong.

Yeah, I got absolutely no suggestions as to how I could improve my Aura cosplay. Everyone told me what was wrong, but could not offer a single suggestion. My favorite: "Looks nothing like the ref pic."
