I have no idea how you get 1000 plus votes besides that you must have lots of online friends.

It really depends on if the avi is good. Me personally I just skip over the non-impressive avi's.

Sometimes it's just your placement in the arena. They might not see it. I had that one time... hardly ANY comments or votes. I usually advertise in here (With my sig). People are more mature! XD

Speaking of placement, I just noticed how many entries there are! Wow! It's a wonder that anyone can find your entry to vote on it. For myself, I just wouldn't have time to go through every entry.

I just entered my first this week and after entering, I went looking through the past entries to see if what I entered had already been done. (It was an afterthought, but I didn't find anything after looking what seemed to be forever). Then I found this forum for the arena and learned about cosplays (new to me) and the complaints about the bots. I have seen what all of you are talking about.

To add my thought on ranting.........I really do not like seeing the intentional mean comments.

Thats the plus side of the Spotlight. It gives you a bunch of avi's that haven't been viewed in a while.

I agree with the mean comments. Some are just HARSH O.O".

Flame me if you want, but I'm sick of seeing 6 or 7 cosplays in the top ten each week. The rest are mildly creative themed avatars in which a human character is invisible (usually based around a plushie looking like it's doing something), and one actual outfit accompanied by avatar art. People have proposed a separate cosplay arena, which sounds good to me! But it's just as annoying that people who can draw good avatar art for themselves (or can afford high-quality art) are at such a huge advantage. sweatdrop

I wouldn't call use art or even affording it an advantage.There are some many other factors included such as how the outfit actually looks and the popularity of the person submitting the outfit that saying that art is an advantage is bias.That part comes down to the mentality of it:are you using the are to supplement an already good outfit are or you using it because you know it's the only way anyone will pay attention and you can place? I think the mentality that you need art to win or the fact that voters are starting to demand art being used with an original outfit is ludicrous,this is not the arena.Sadly I don't think the voters are at fault for such an obsurd standard now,but those of us who have won with accompanying art or keep winning with it.That's not a good sign and bodes ill because it's just setting the bar unnecessary high even for wonderful outfits that deserve to rank over the ones I have seen place lately.

On the thing about rich outfits winning,what the fug are you talking about? A year ago you may have seen one of two outfits with something really expensive on and hopefully that outfit remotely looked good along with other decent original outfits,but now you're lucky if you even see any at all,let alone seeing different people place instead of the same ones.

Cosplays,I love them but I'm getting so tired of the top 10 consisting mainly of them and oddball themes that make me go "Why did that place?" is due largely in part of the voters.Considering that most of them are teenagers between the ages of 13-17 (and older people who still act very immature) and unfortunately many have the attention span of a nat will only glance over an entry if it really grabs their attention.If it's just a regular matching outfit or a matching theme,more than likely some of them are going to pass them up since they could care less about that sort of thing,or even take out their hatred on it for not being able to obtain what they can't have.Cosplays on the other hand,if it is recognizable and/or a popular character,people are going to vote on it even if it looks bland.

This has gotten alot of people to think a quick way to win is by doing a cosplay,and it's sad that's what people have to resort to if they want to win instead of trying to do something creative of their own.That goes without saying that cosplays aren't,because in the past you had to have a keen eye to see what items you could use to pull off a particular character and showed how versatile the items are.Now it's abit easier,more people are going to do it,and there's not much creativity into cosplay making now unless you either manage to win with the cosplay before someone else does,you do an improvement of another cosplay that has not been done to death,or you pull a hat trick and do a truly brilliant cosplay that actually deserves to rank.

In parting,I wish people who vote and enter the arena would use abit more common sense when they do or say something regarding it,especially when they aren't just complaining about seeing too many of the same matching,most of which actually look decent,and about seeing to many cosplays place when they are at fault for voting them up anyway.

Sorry,I'm quite vocal when I have a strong opinion about something xP. I had to change the coloring so it would be read,I think it will give people something to think about before they rant hopefully.Ooo and you're welcome,I hope you do well this week if not rank <3.

But then, some cosplays are unique and that's what I like.

I still prefer non-cosplays.

She did,sometime between the end of summer and mid fall.Mimi's looks good but I still prefer the first one that placed.

*sob* Someone stole my avi... I just saw someone with almost the exact same avatar, only a few items different... and we're both in the arena this week! I'll be pissed if they win with my idea- I've had this avatar for almost a month now.
