Pasithea Oh yay, a rant thread, just what I need. My first 9 ******** comments in the arena and they are ALL bots. I just deleted them all the little bastards. They are getting smarter now about what they post, simply putting a scale of 1-10 on there like, 1/10, 2/10, 6/10. Still it's just too obvious when you have like 9 of those in a row. After reading that, I looked you up in the Arena. Gave it a nice high vote because it was a really good use of colors and well, I wanted to give the bots the raspberries...! Especially since they downvoted my last entry into the cellar. So that wordy comment in your comment area is me smile Also, I was forced to remove my last entry due to the fact that it was 1) a Sailor senshi (or so I am told) and 2) Every last damn bot in the arena found me. Was so sick of them by Thursday that I said screw it and took down Sailor Mau. She may return in a couple of months once everyone is bored with the Magical Girl items....and Gaia figures out a way to exterminate the bots again. Btw, they should disable gold granting to posters in the Arena. Might get rid of some of those bots...*kicks one out of her own entry* |

lillibit Some bots are downvoting, some are just commenting. I'm noticing a few are leaving numerous comments on the same entry and they are all the same. I've actually noticed that. Much of my downvoters were bots from the same guy: JohnMule(#) I think I had five or six from the same botter. |

Fiiona Flame me if you want, but I'm sick of seeing 6 or 7 cosplays in the top ten each week. The rest are mildly creative themed avatars in which a human character is invisible (usually based around a plushie looking like it's doing something), and one actual outfit accompanied by avatar art. People have proposed a separate cosplay arena, which sounds good to me! But it's just as annoying that people who can draw good avatar art for themselves (or can afford high-quality art) are at such a huge advantage. sweatdrop The problem is that cosplays are in high demand. I know that all the times i have done orginals (that have been pretty good if i do say so myself) they have never done well. Plus, people never read the descriptions, which can be pretty funny in explaining the avatar. As long as people don't do one cosplay over and over again, i am fine with voting for one or two of the orginal ones. For one, i make it a point never to vote for naruto, Jack sparrow, or Smurfs (its been done too much) cosplays. Those have been done over and over, and lets face it, they never get better. But if someone does, say, a Abigail Adams cosplay (hint hint nudge nudge) that has never been done before, people should vote for it. Also, as far as a different arena for cosplayers, the original arena would disapear cause, lets face it again, people don't have that many original ideas left in their poor little brains. |

BOTs
though the posting has slowed down compared to last year...WOW that was horrible! they took up comments for 2 to 3 pages! then the waiting time to post comments was increased, and that slowed them down a bit, then there was the voting, that slowed down too. now Gaia FINALLY inputs a CAPTCHA after 5 years of being online, and it has helped just a bit. only thing is, now Bot creators are using the randomizer to create what appears to be new Users. but after years of being on her and the Arena, you can tell which are human operated. as much as i enjoy the Arenas, if cutting off the supply of Gold it gives, for a few weeks to try and figure out how to stop botters. i will accept that. COSPLAY i've ranted and complimented about it for months. i can be very picky about it, especially if its simple or no work is put into it. there are only certain times you can blame Gaia for not having certain items, and then there are times when you should accept that your or someone else's cosplay is bad because it just is. i am more likely to vote for complex Cosplay. ones that take more than 2 to 3 items to complete. and if that was all there was to the character, than it is up to making the cosplay appealing despite the lack of adding more items. capture a scene, get the personality within the avatars face, add things that the character is known to have around. i will likely bring it up a lot. the Rambo cosplay. i just cant like it. even if others did find it accurate. there was also a Big Ed cosplay, that i critiqued and got PMd by the Winner, who even though i explained over and over, kept asking for examples of others, when the point is, once the arena changes Weeks, all those other avatar entries are gone! just because something is accurate, it doesnt mean it looks good. i also like cosplay with a twist. there was a Sailor Moon cosplay last week, that gave a more, faux future cyber look, and i liked it a lot. while others just didnt get it! because it was out of what they were use to seeing. some beg for an avatar to be portrayed right, then rant about it looking like every other entry like it. Cosplay/Concept winnings yes i admit i am getting bored of cosplay taking up the Top 10, to a point that you only see like...1 or 2 that are original in terms of an outfit or matching. it doesnt mean i dont enjoy those avatars. its just that it gets annoying seeing them place because of popularity and not how the avatar appears. and then there are the cosplay that have been done a lot, and still manage to win! IE Zelda, Jack Sparrow, Elvis... confused do people have amnesia or something?! i can understand if the cosplay has actually improved over the previous one, or if the winner was doing another version of the character. but to basically dress up close to how a winner was (without knowing) and win. it just gets frustrating. ART a new complex argument. there are indeed some voters who are treating the AvA like the art arena, and voting on the art...not the avatar. Art can be helpful in adding to the avatar, by showing you how the creator sees it. but i say if the art exceeds the avatar, it does not deserves such a good votes! then there are the concepts with mini gifs, that explain the avatar a lot better than the avatar! what am i voting on? the idea? how the idea was pulled off? the cleverness? cause a lot of times there are ones that i dont get, until i look at a picture. |

@Bunai: I'm not going to attempt to quote that because that was HUGE. xd I agree with the cosplay thing completely. I'm sick of them taking over most of the arena some weeks but I do like them sometimes. I've seen a couple that have completely blown me away because I would have never thought of that.

Another Rant!
Descriptions: I know that it is not the description arena. Really, i do. It's just that most of the original ideas these days come from random avatars that make no sense, or might seem plain until you have something to open your eyes at. It really gets frustrating for people who write really funny stories, and have an avatar that just looks weird and nothing special, to keep getting feedback that says " I dont understand your avi. This is an AVATAR arena NOT a description arena" Um , duh i know that, i can read. But still, descriptions open your eyes to the hidden meaning of an avatar, and the stories are just fun to read, and show what the person had in mind for the avatar. Plus, some of them are just to damn funny NOT to read! xd |
