A Steam of Color Original group entry

So just when I thought I would run out of ideas for the original arena, another one pops into my head. I want to show Gaia that steampunk is not only browns and golds, but other colors as well! So here we go! What I have on now is what I'll be entering. So pick a color and have fun! I can't wait to see this idea come to life for Week 5! Tags would be steamcolor plus whatever color you chose!

I am having fun with a purple, pink, black, blue, and cream combination.

Most cultures during the Victorian Era did keep colors muted, as it was the fashion of the time; the age of steam-power was in swing, and the rich and refined wanted to match the beautiful machines they created and financed. They wanted to look professional and down-to-earth, while retaining their look of prestige and power. This was often shown of by way of monocles, canes, pocketwatches, and hats.
Meanwhile, the poorer classes wore these muted colors out of necessity; a plain, brown leather jacket and solid white shirt are significantly cheaper than a bright purple vest. The rich wore these lavish colors, though they used them as supplementary, not primary. The regal and refined look of the day would not be a brilliantly colored, dazzling wardrobe, but a sleek and refined suit with a sash of red here, a vest of blue there.
Now of course, dresses were a different story, but to match the fashion standard set by businessmen and bankers, even brighter colors were muted, giving it all a more professional look.

Anyway: if you count my bright-red sash, I'm in, lol.
