Can you help me/give me back my gold?

You see, I was hacked on my other account, ix-absent-x-minded-xi. I contacted admin but she wouldn't respond. I had about 127k. I tried to investigate the problem, but I couldn't find any notifications or history of trade requests. Can you help me?

The reason you couldn't find any trade history is because the person that took them probably sent them as gifts. You can't lookup gifting history. I've been hacked a few times and never got any responses. But think about how many people report hacking, it takes a while to go through everyone.

You can see your recent gifting history on your trade page, in the lower right hand corner.

The person who coded it is long gone so the entire thing would have to be scrapped and remade from the beginning.

I tried to avoid an answer like yours, I really did.

Would it be so hard to copy a piece of coding from a previous gaia homes ITEM and change the IMAGE of that item, to create a new housing item?

Example: Take one of those boring windows code, get an artist to create some sort of brilliant ornate window and get any dev to quickly edit the pasted boring windows image to the new one?

I do apologize for not having a brown name and being a common user but this is what we know so far.

Hopefully a Gaia staff member will see your post and do something about it.

depends.

do you want day/night, your avatar to be able to move, your avatar to be in the setting in the first place, your computer to even recognize what it is looking at, and the list goes on.

its not as simple as copying a picture and pasting it somewhere else.

it needs to be able to have shading (day/night) and your avatar has to be able to move around on it.

otherwise you get stuff like this happening (the mech is floating in mid air. obviously, its not supposed to)

Towns is written in a now antiquated version of flash. So it's not a matter of not understanding the code or a matter of copy and pasting code. Updating Towns would mean a complete rewrite (why invest on improvements to a system in a dying/dead language?) which would be months of work and at the moment we just don't have the resources.

the coding still has to be compatable with each other though.

its like (using microsoft word 2003 compared to word 2007):

word 2003 was based around an entirely different GUI (basically, all the buttons you can press to do stuff, from changing font to saving your work) than word 2007.

word 2007 can run word 2003 stuff because it was made to handle it. (this would be comparing Towns 1.0 to towns 1.2)

now, if you add a program such as abiword (MS word with different file types), it cannot open word documents because it was never designed to read them (its like me giving someone who speaks only english a piece of paper written in aribic and expecting them to read it flawlessly). this would be comparing towns 1.0 to towns 2.0, they were never written to be backwards compatable


(this is all based on my understanding of whats going on, feel free to correct me devs)

Why not letting use sell out zOMG rings?

because then you would have all the rings costing 10GG (since they are so plentiful ingame)

you would have CL10.0 noobs (noobier than the ones we have now) generally angering the entire community because they have no idea what they are doing.

We have forum projects that progressively enhance the community side, while on the gaming side there will be more bigger game releases coming up. Unfortunately they're not little projects so they take a while to release. But for those who like games, they will be big additions to Gaia.

Dude, as s/he was saying --it's not that simple. Adobe has rebuilt Flash (and its developing software, Dreamweaver) since then, so a programmer would have to learn the new version and the old version just to rework every single bit of code.

And programming is never simple. Trying to find one bug can make you tear your hair out. (I've done enough in College to know that it's not my thing, but I still understand where their frustration comes from.)

Gaia Homes is not actually Flash. It's an older Adobe (Macromedia) program called Director + Shockwave. The Dev that knows that code is no longer at Gaia. For another Dev to learn how to read the code, compile it and update _anything_ would take a long time. For us to be able to fix or change any functionality would take a _very_ long time.

It's all about priorities. There are many other things we want to do with the site that take priority over updating Houses. I'd much rather improve security and make all Gaia pages load faster than work on bugs in Houses that have not changed in a long time.

Would you ever ask the help of the developers at your chinese sister site for templates/coding to make a towns-type-RPG / Towns.v2?

Since your having trouble It would be a wise thing to ask help from the sister site.
As they've re-written all of the housing system and even created a stable towns.
(With movement like zOMG and art which is godly.)

I see no harm in asking for help.
