Yeah, the time jump really messes things up. So much stuff happens that the audience (and Shinji) is left in the dark about. It will be interesting to see where the 4th movie takes us.

Man all of that is still so confusing to me, but it'll probably remain as so because I'm really slow when it comes to understanding things;
It does seem cool though, I really wanna see the fourth movie. I was happy Asuka took his hand in the end. (I still wanna see Kaworu though!)
