In France and some European countries its common to eat dinner at the time when people here in the USA would eat lunch *11am - 1:00 pm*

I read somewhere that one of the reasons why Europeans don't have an obesity problem like America does is because they eat their big meal in the middle of the day and have something smaller in the evening.

It does make sense . . .

I on the other hand... if i were to have a family *Extremely unlikely* I would have the biggest meal in the begining of the day. Imagine every morning having a huge breakfast then for the rest of the day just have smaller meals.

Oh, like one of those huge breakfast buffets? *___*

There used to be a restaurant that would hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet every Sunday morning; it was $7.95/person . . . I went there a few times and the food was really good.

Sadly, the place closed up over a year ago and now houses the city's democratic headquarters.

There were this one restaurant in Chicago Called Shoney's where they had huge breakfast buffets, freshly made eggs, all the pancakes, French toast, bacon breakfast sausages fresh fruit and other yummy breakfast items you can possibly dream of. Problem is the restaurant closed down and there are no more Shoney's restaurants in the Chicagoland area. -___- the closest one is in Jasper Indiana which is like 2 hours southeast of the City limits *About 4 hours from my house*

Old Country Buffet is ok but its just not the same.... -__-

Old Country Buffet is nothing compared to what the smaller places have to offer.

I went there once for a church thing and I remember it being overpriced and the food tasting like cardboard. >_>;;;

There's a Chinese buffet not too far from where I live called the Family Buffet, but that place is horrible. They add MSG up the wazoo to their food and it made me break out like you wouldn't believe. gonk I've known people who had gotten sick and got food poisoning off of their food. They let their stuff sit out for way too long and I swear some of it isn't cooked all the way. I've heard horror stories about that place having rats and cockroaches as well . . . >_<

I never did understand the concept of Chinese Buffets... when i think of Chinese food, I think of dimly lit family-owned restaurants filled with Chinese artwork and whatnots. And the waitresses were so nice and would kindly give you enough time to decide on what you wanted. The portions were just the right size and even though it took a long time to cook, I knew that the restaurant chefs took their time to make the food. Thats what i noticed about restaurants, the brighter the place it, the more food you are likely to eat. Thats why every McDonalds is renovating their restaurants to make the lighting and backgrounds darker*

I didn't know that about the lighting . . . o.O;;;
Every McDonalds that I've been to has had blinding florescent lights everywhere; I always thought they did that just so no one would trip and sue for it being "too dark".
Most food places don't give you enough time to decide; it's as though they assume that you know what you want from the second you walk in. Heck, most places don't even say hello. -___-;;;
I tend to avoid most Chinese food places these days because of the MSG. >_>;;; That and the quality of the food (especially the meat) has definitely gone down over the years . . . @___@

The Best Chinese restaurants are in of course in a neighborhood where there are alot of Chinese people. Thank God Chicago has a good-sized Chinatown where there a good number of Chinese Restaurants. Some are pretty fancy, others are well semi-formal then there are some where its the usual takeout places. I would love to go back to Chinatown one day and visit some of the little shops they had. Many of which have stuff from japan that you cant get anywhere else unless you get them online.

Yum . . . I love Chinese food, but just without the MSG . . .

There's this place in the mall that sells overpriced, poor-quality food. Once I went there because I was just wanting some white rice, and the lady literally gave me this dirty look and asked, "What do you want?" in an annoyed voice.

I turned around and left.

There used to be two stores in the area that sold Chinese and Japanese stuff, but they both closed down. One was located in a very bad neighborhood where a lot of gangs hang out (and was only a few blocks from where a murder took place outside of a bar) and the other left because the rent in the mall got too high and they couldn't keep up. Now it's a second pizza place.
