Welcome to NORTH

This be the art shop belonging to Neth, as people call me on my main account, or Solinhild, which is my deviantART account.

I will be mostly offering only headshots or fullbody sketches for a while. Coloured full bodies and waist-ups will be the stuff of myth and legend bribes, auctions and irl commissions. The point of the shop is for me to practice and work on developing a style I am happier with, as well as eventually hoping to get enough exposure and work done that I can take commissions for real money, because as a soon-to-be art student, I will, of course, be utterly broke.

So ja, whether you are going to order or not, feel free to stay and chat. 8D I may very occasionally produce freebies for regulars.

26th July 2008: Imma be closing the shop for a while until I'm at least half way through Sam's commissions. Various things have happened, and it's making my will to draw...fade somewhat, so I'm just going to work on what I have. Sorry.

-I don’t care if it’s on my deviantart, in this thread, or anywhere else that I’ve posted it. Do not steal my art. Do not claim it as yours. Do not use it as a picture/reference for your own character if it was not made for you. Do not edit it. Do not repost it on other sites or upload it to image hosting sites like photobucket, unless it was drawn for you.
-No begging or spamming, although bumping to keep me on the first page is nice, just don’t overdo it please. <3
-No advertising. If you want me to link you, post with the link/code/etc. and I will add it to the list. Once I actually dedicate a post to links, that is. ._.;;
-Please try to be decently literate, meaning no l33t, chatspeak etc. unless as a joke. Proper grammar and spelling is a good thing.
-No random friend requests or PMs please.
-If you want to ask a question, ask it in the thread and highlight it in some way so I’ll be certain to see it.
-Please try to keep quote towers to no more than 4, and don’t quote any of the front page posts.
-Constructive comments and criticism are nice, but no flaming and don’t be a b*****d about it.
-I don’t really care if you think my prices are too high, so please refrain from bitching about it. I will adjust according to how business goes and I also have no wish to be swamped. Thus, prices are subject to sudden changes.

Fun fact: Saraneth 6th Bell is my main account. So if you see it buzzing around, it also has powahr in the thread.

All my prices are estimates, and this shop won't work in a solid this-is-the-price sort of way. These are just general price ranges to use when making an offer. Obviously, more gold means more time put into the picture, and thus a more complicated character design means more gold needs to be present in the offer. I accept items as well as gold, with older donation items and pretty much any evolving item loved. I reserve the right to turn down any order, as this is not first come, first served.

Traditional colour would mean watercolours, markers, and/or colour pencil.
Digital is...on the computer and will be in more of a painted style, but will still have lines. Unless you pay me more to do lineless.

Sketches are the only sort of fullbody drawings I will normally be offering. I'll be using these to practice more dynamic poses and movement, so when ordering please have some sort of pose in mind. These sketches may contain a little loose shading, but that's it. If you want more detail, you can offer more. :'D

Bribe me, pay me real money, or wait for an auction if you want things like waist-ups, fullbodies or couples.

Commission Info

Sorry in advance for the wall of text, but my paranoia and obsession with detail must be satisfied! xD

-This is not first come, first served. I reserve the right to turn down any offer.
-Post orders in the thread.
-Only PM me about the status of your art if you haven’t heard a thing from me for over a month and this thread has become inactive/doesn’t mention any updated information on your commission’s status. I am not the fastest worker, but I will do my best to update you on the progress of your piece.
-Please don’t PM me in relation to art or this thread unless it’s ABSOLUTELY URGENT. Or for the above reason.
-Type the word Hotpants in the notes section of the form or I'll ignore your order.
-Please do not edit your commission unless it is only to resize it.
-Do not remove my signature. But please do give me credit (e.g. link to my dA account) for the piece if you repost it on your site, journal etc.
-If you would like different sizes, icons etc. of your commission, ask and I’ll probably do it for free. <3 The same goes if you want a bit of text like the character name added to it.
-Host your own pictures please.
-You are paying for the art, not the copyright. Aka, no using for commercial purposes. (And I'm not going to either, so don't worry about that. xD )

I will not start drawing before the trade has been started. Once I am finished, I will send you a PM to tell you, then we complete the trade, and I send you the picture. Or you can request a small, blatantly watermarked version before completing the trade and getting the actual picture, if you’re paranoid like me. xD If the commission is particularly big, and a large amount of gold involved, I may request that a certain percentage of the payment be sent to me before I start the work. Once I have started work on a commission, you can not cancel it.
If you are making a large offer for a bribe piece, I'd rather you PM the number to me unless stated otherwise.


Since I am trying to develop my style in a certain direction, I prefer drawing characters that are a bit more epic, serious etc. I don’t mean no happy people, I would just rather not draw characters who are more on the cutesy, silly side. If that makes sense. >_>
