Welcome to Gaia! ::

Kling: deffinately! i'll be hosted at a school for about 10 weeks, so i'll most likely still have internet access and things of that nature, so if there's good places, or pictures of stuff you guys want to see, let me konw! ^_^ (i'll also be taking my tablet with me of course...lol...)

lol...nice...

lol...it's hard work getting a picture clean/neat...but you do a nice job at it! ^_^

YES!!! >_< i almost want to draw an image of a personified version of photoshop...(both male and female because i'm not too sure what it would be...lol...) it's kinda hard to imagine...lol...

nice! the pirate pic looks good! i really like the background!

Kimmi: >.< thanks!

General Audience: so i just applied to another program that would let me teach English in Japan for a year after i've graduated, and i'm hoping that i get into that as well...my Japanese teachers are freaking awesome too! i needed a couple recomendation letters, and a couple of them couldn't write one for me because i asked a little short notice, so it was understandable, but i asked one of them about 3 days before the deadline, and they still wrote a letter for me!!! >_< again, i love my Japanese teachers...they are the kindest ladies who are unfortunately horribly intimidating/scary because they teach Japanese...(lol...) they have the immense power of either making you feel like a dumb a** (daily), or making your week (with something as little as a "yoku dekimashita!" or a smile...lol...(i still remember in third year, my teacher was giving me that look where you could tell that she was expecting me to give the wrong answer, and i surprised her with the right one...)

anyway, long story short, i love my Japanese teachers! >_< (sorry for the above rant)

also, i ended up driving home (about an 8 hour drive from my friends house) for the hollidays, so i'll be hanging out with my parents when they're not busy, and i think that we are expecting my brother, but he's busy raising a barn with a few friends...lol...but that's ok, because i need to finish painting penguin shoes for him...(last year he got walrus shoes...one of the poor things lost an eye...lol...)

anywho, sorry for making this a really long disjointed message...i think i just need to go to sleep by this point and stop typing...and i commend any of you who have made it this far and understand what the heck i was talking about...lol...

oyasumi! (g'night!)

good luck o3o

and hope you have an awesome christmas
hi guys...sorry for not posting in so so so soooooo long... >_<; i've been busy with school, volunteering, getting a subletter for spring/summer, getting ready to go to Japan, etc...one of the things i'm trying to do to get ready for the study abroad is fundraise, so if any of you guys have good ideas, let me know! i've already posted something on facebook asking for donations/offering goods/services i can do to make money (including some commissions...) but since all of my friends are also broke/saving, i don't think i'm going to raise a lot of money that way...i'm also going to try and enter a cover contest for my school, cuz if i get it, i'll be able to win $400!

i also just had the second interview with someone who is acutally on the board of education for the program i mentioned earlier, but because he's in Japan, it was a telephone interview...the unfortunate thing was that one of his first questions was "how long have you been studying Japanese?" and because i answered "about 9 years" he changed to Japanese and i had the rest of the interview in Japanese...but hopfully it went alright anyway...lol...

so, besides doing school work and trying to get it so i won't die once i'm out of college, i haven't been doing too much else...

how about you guys? have you all been well? ^_^

Luna: hey! thanks so much! sorry I couldn't be around for the ceremony of your contest! >_< could you send me the link so i can check it out though? (if you still have it...) i thought i still had it, but it turns out that i don't...*sob*...

Kimmi: thanks, i did have a good christmas...(though it was a while ago by this point...lol...) it was really nice to see my brother for a few days and hang out at home for a while... ^_^ how was yours?

Omg, having to try to communicate with someone in Japanese like that seems like it would be nerve wracking, but that's probably more just me because I don't know how to speak it at all. xD;

But seriously, going to Japan sounds like it would be so much fun! ^^ I was thinking about trying to do a study abroad program in England for one of my college semesters, but I'm kind of in the same boat as you with having no idea what to do to fund-raise for it. x.x; I am going to New York City in March though for about 5 days for a journalism conference for one of my classes and it's totally free so I'm really excited about that. ^^
Kimmi: lol...thanks, me too! >_<
yeah, i kinda am...it's just hard trying to figure out what i want to do with the rest of my life...all i know is that i want to go to Japan...other than that, i have no clue...so really, at this point it's just finding something that will get me to japan and keep me there...lol...

i'm glad! ^_^ how about things lately? anything interesting happening as of late? how's your contest going?

Aur0na: lol...well, it caught me off guard so i think i did worse than i would have if i had been in the mindset that it was going to be in Japanese before hand...but it wasn't too bad...

yeah! i'm really looking forward to it...i just really need some extra funds so that i can stay for a little while longer...i'm thinkin of doing a special poster or something to sell on DA and i posted a thing via facebook for selling cakes/cookies, doing simple artwork, catering, teaching people how to cook, etc. (really offering to do anything within reason...lol...)

that's awesome that you're going to New York for a journalism trip! i'm originally from that area-ish so i've been there a couple of times...also, with just New York's reputation for journalism/publishing i bet it'll be a lot of fun! >_< are you hoping to become a writer/journalist at some point?

But being able to just pick up on it quickly and go with it, that's pretty amazing. (: I took Spanish for three years during high school and just could not do it. x.x I think I'm going to be a one language person for the rest of my life. ._.;;

Those all sound like good ideas. ^^ I went on a trip to England and France for a program called People to People about 3 years ago and one of the ways we earned money for it was sending letters to businesses explaining about it and asking for donations. You could try the same thing? :3 We're going to be doing it again probably next ear because my sister will be older enough to go so we're planning on working to get the money for it ahead of time.

I'm really excited about it. ^^ I've never been up that way before, but have always wanted to go. (: My sister wants me to try and go to Central Park so I can take a picture of the Balto statue they have there. xD Yeah, I would love to do some type of journalism. When I was in high school I worked on the Yearbook and helped start up a student run newspaper. Plus now that I'm in college I've been in a literary magazine class for two semesters and I just love everything about it. ^^ What is it that you plan in going into?
Aku XD;; sorry I forgot to send you the link.. the thread is here link
Aur0na: lol...yeah...but i still have a long way to go...that's one of the main reasons why i want to go to Japan so bad... ^_^

i ended up writing a letter to some businesses, i just have to figure out who i'm sending it to/print and sign everything...so i'll see if it works out and let you know! thanks for the idea! >_<

yeah, the Balto statue is pretty cool...at least i remember liking it when i saw it...^_^ if you happen to take any pictures of NYC that you don't mind sharing, let me see! ^_^ i'm glad that you have something you're passionate about, and that you're getting to further your interest in NY. ^_^ i've never been much of a writer, but my friend keeps on wanting me to finish a couple stories that i had started and never finished...lol...(i think i'll just have to make a storyboard at one point, hand it to her and tell her to write it for me...lol...)

as for what i plan on doing...i have no idea...i'm trying to get a job and figure out what i want to do with the rest of my life...unfortunately, i don't have any ideas...so we'll see what happens. for right now, i'm hoping i get into this program i've applied to that will let me go teach English in Japan for at least a year, maybe two...though i don't necessarily want to be a teacher for the rest of my life, i think it could be a good way for me to get my foot in the door and it'll afford me other opportunities to stay in Japan for a prolonged length of time...^_^

Luna: lol...no problem! >_< it looks like you got a lot of nice entries! ^_^ and i'm surprised that my group shot won!...thanks so much!

how have things been going for you by the way? ^_^ i really like that image you currently have in your sig, the pose is really nice, and it's just a really cool pic of your avi! ^_^
Yeah I got some good ones ^ ^
Well it was the best group one :3

Thanks ^ ^ yeah I really liked this outfit so I sorta altered it a bit and put it on my oc XD

I'm alright, been to the doctor a couple times, and gonna be going again soon I hope. Trying to find out if I have gallstones or something else.
wow...it's been forever since i was last here...hello to any of you who are around/still cares about this lonely thread... ^_^

UPDATE:

sorry for not being around for the past few months...the reason is because i was in japan...and was just busy between class, conversation partners, other program attendees as well as trying to explore as much as possible... >_< i had really an amazing time! though i spent most of the program in Kobe, i travelled around for 2 weeks and went to Tokyo (i stopped by Kamakura and Nikko while i was up there), Hiroshima (and Miyajima), Kyoto, and finished off by staying a night in Himeji with my partner, and another back in Kobe so that I was closer to the Kansai International Airport... for those two weeks, i stayed in these really lovely youth hostels, and pretty much decided on what i was going to do the day that i did it...i had a lot of serendipity, and it was overall just a fantastic adventure...(i wish i had more time!!! >_< ) something that was ridiculous though, was i ended up taking roughly 4,000 photos throughout the 3 month trip...(sure some were going into panoramas and mis-fires, but still...)

currently, i'm busy looking for a job...so if anyone hears of anything good, let me know! >_< I'm trying to fill out my portfolio at the moment, so i've been finishing stuff that i think is promising...if anyone has a really good concept that you would like me to work on and you don't mind if i end up using it in my portfolio, let me know!!! >_< also, if any of you guys sees a good tutorial for building a digital portfolio anywhere online, let me know...i'm gonna try and work out my own website, but for now, i've just opened a new account at deviant art, and need to fill it up with my pieces...(some of which i've never posted...) i'll most likely post that user name over at my "current" da site (akuma-hime.deviantart.com) once it's actually up and running...

anyway, for those of you who have bravely read all the way down to here, thank you. let me know how you all have been! it's been so long, and i'm sure something fun must have happened within the long time i haven't been here...^_^'

best of luck with any endeavors. love, live, laugh. and I hope to hear from you soon! ^_^
wow sounds like you had a lot of fun :3
sorry I don't know squat about making portfolios
yeah...it was a really amazing experience! >_< now i just have to try and get back in less than 5 years this time...lol...

that's fine...i'm pretty much going to make a simple print out with comments and upload everything onto deviant art...(and eventually make my own site...)

to those who are interested...i ended up being able to draw a bit yesterday...so i ended up entering a competition on gaia...just thought i'd post my entry here too...(the version i really like anyway...) with a couple closeups...

hope you all like them!!! >_<
