I think I jinxed myself yesterday. I woke up 8 minutes before school started (ish a 15 min walk) and practically killed myself to get there in time. Beyond that my day has been less than pleasant in general. //o^

That's because it's not something they've realised! Remember, in the Past, before Phoenix and Aether met, Aether was already voluntarily shutting himself away from human contact and emotional relationships with others. He wasn't loving anyone or anything then, and hadn't for a long long time. He chose not to. And once he had met Phoenix, a very short period of time after, he sold half of his soul to Deus. So there wasn't really a change in his personality. He sold the half he didn't use. >_> To others, he acted the same as always, because none of them knew him to be any different! Except Casi... but that's different. There was one hint though. >_> Aether cried before he lost his half soul. He has never since. Doesn't that imply he felt something more then, than he does in his current state?

Well I'd kind of realized that he'd sold the part that could love and care. Thats why he cant show love or affection to others except in small ways - like keeping the foal that Phoenix saved and lots of the horses that they use in the school are the generations of offspring from that foal. As well as fleeting signs of affection (unless i imagined them)

Aside from that excessive jealousy and the need to bind Phoenix to him so he cant loose him shows that he has attachment to Phoenix and feelings for him... even if they are shown in some not so affectionate ways. Also I'm sure in some places Aether makes comments about being unable to love and not knowing what it is.

And Past!Phoenix does get to understand that as the Past arc moves forward. Which is why... not so nice stuff happens because he tries to errr... help... and they all ... die. X_x Aether gets left all alone, broods for a couple thousand years, and Present!Phoenix gets smacked full in the face with it, not knowing anything.

Yea, I really feel sorry for Present!Phoenix... he lost everything and then he gets accepted into the school - the one good thing thats like ever happened. He gets there and all of a sudden there is this guy claiming he is his and acting like he's a possession and the guy also has a couple hundred years worth of emotions all bottled up and ready to pour straight onto him for things he did in his past life that he's unaware of to begin with. Not to mention the shock of actually finding out the truth of his past life and what/who he is.
