I prefer winter to summer, even though it doesn't snow or anything. I get a lot more work done in the winter months than the summer ones because in summer, it can get so hot, I stick to my paper, and melt if I sit in front of my compie. X_x

Bananas are supposed to be mosquitoes favorite food. It's kinda random that they just decided to eat you. It gets really cold here in winter and in the summer it usually doesn't go above 80 degrees Fahrenheit, though it does get really humid too. In New Mexico, it's not humid so there aren't any mosquitoes. //o^ That reminds me of E's......

I've been reading more american style comics lately rather than mangas, and watching anime with subtitles takes alot of concentration.

But the audiences at most conventions are consumer driven anyway, so if you produce something that appeals to the mass it will sell. I gotta do more of that. the fan art crap.

Hahha, the story... in 2006, I entered Moonlit Duel at A4 size (because that was the RULE) in the art comp at Animania. Someone else (I didn't know who at the time) entered a realism styled picture as well, and it was A3 size. That alone kinda miffed me because I went to the trouble of printing out that artwork at A4 because that was what the rule said - normally I only had it at A3 or A2 for print sales.

Anyway, that realism picture of the girl won, and I was like, blah, okay. Sucks to be me. I was kinda use to it. I never win anything anyway, ever. >_>

So I was sitting back at my table in the artist alley, and some girl who I didn't know, with long thick ginger hair and glasses comes up to me and asks me if I was the artist who got 2nd place. Since I was, I said yes. Since she asked, I returned the question and asked if she did the artwork that got first place. She didn't really reply but didn't deny it either. It left the impression that she did, and then she went on to say that she was from X-Seven, so I was like, oh, so no wonder it won! She then tells me she's the manager of X-Seven, and I asked her what does that role entail. She told me she got them organised to sell at Australian conventions and to promote their work out of China. Nothing about making the art. So then I said something like, so you didn't make that artwork? She didn't really say anything to that either, and instead asks me about my table name> Caleyndar Studio, and asks if it was a group, and I say no, it's just me. And she was like: Oh. Well. A Studio is usually a group of artists, you know. And I was like... alright, but in this case, no, it's just me and sometimes friends who help me out with conventions and making things. Then she left. I was kinda wft was that? after she went away.

Afterwards, I found out that she was just the manager, and that the other girl who was with her, who IS an artist for X-Seven, did the winning artwork. But she totally left me with the impression that SHE was the one who made the artwork! On top of that, she made me feel stupid about my own table name, and had this air of superiority about her. >_>

Ever since then, she's been totally cold and kind of rude to me.

At Supanova 06 (I think it was like a month after Ani 06), I snuck away from my table to do shopping, so I stopped by X-seven's table to fangirl over it and buy artworks from them. And the manager was there, and the first thing she says to me is: oh, what's the problem NOW? or something along those lines. It totally put me back. All I was doing was buying prints from X-Seven, and I'm ALLOWED to browse and choose, aren't I? They have a lot of prints, and I like some better than others, and she gave me the impression I was being too picky or something and totally not welcome.

Another instance was this year at Supanova: she walks up to my table, ignores it, walks to the table next to me (Rae's) and holds this long happy cheery friendly conversation with her, LOUDLY, I might add, so I could hear every word, and then walks back to my table, stares long and hard at my crap, then walks away without another word! I then when to Rae: SEE? I told you she doesn't like me! I'm not imagining it, AM I??? and Rae agreed that no, I wasn't imagining it. She could see the animosity there too. >_> It's like, that manager has hated me ever since that conversation we had at Ani 2006.

In short, because of the Manager of X-Seven being a complete b***h to me, I've kinda been turned off X-Seven's stuff. I WAS SUCH A FANGIRL of their work back in 2005. Now I stay away from them like the plague because of the manager. >_> It kinda sucks.

OMGyou serious?! you know i always had that SAME feeling towards some artist on DA, you know like you adore their works and you are inspired by their style. At one stage i was really inspired by her works I really loved her style and all. Then i pmed her asking a few questions and she acused me for copying her works caz its in the same style. My own characters and all just in the same style, to me i believe that all i was doing was apporpriating her style, in reflection of my works caz i loved it so much. And to hear this from the very artist i admired made me feel some what down falled and snobed off you know...and then all her friends and stuff post inside my deviantation telling me stop copying her works and give her credit *which is did in fact* i said inspired by kurot. But to have her friends all shove in my page saying that to me, isnt that crossing the line a bit? i mean she is very popular and busy....but you know don;t i have to right to use a style i like? no artist owns a style caz its inspired by other arists and all arists have their own inspiration which can be used by everyone. *she told me you know, i know its your own characters and stuff but cant you be more original?*
from that day on..i never could look at her works the same way, i dont even want to open her page anymore. Sometimes....i wonder, why is it always the good artist who prune to stab you right in the chest when you admire them so much? So now i am finding my own inspiration from PROFESSIONALS this time, and OF COURSE they don;t mind at all!! and i think i like this style ALOT better that hers.

but getting to the point of X seven...when i first came to animania i saw her stall, and yes i know about the 7 groups thing, but when i came in to speak to them *i felt a strange feeling* i usually get that to everyone* when i meet someone, *but i'm glad i didn't tell her i was an artist* usually when i do...they snob me..but its my instincts i like meeting new ppl whether they can draw or not, everyone is nice in their own ways. But to hear that from someone like that....geez talk about loosing a faithful fan. She just lost a great customer!
and you;re right! you DO have the right to look at what you want! GEEZ...i got that same thing from a lady in the markets, i was wanting to buy a pair of wollen gloves and she's like DONT TOUCH MY STUFF!! you WANT IT ASK ME?!!! and i got so mad i was like I"M your customer i got the full rights to touch the things i am intrested in buying?!!! if you want more customers you dont YELL AT THEM!!!! *signs* and she accused me for being chinese, she's like you damn chinese are always like that* and i was like sorry i'm NOT CHINESE, and what do you have to say about yourself? what are you? and she's like i'm chinese too. And i was like to speak of your own nationality like that?! what are you??? *then she jibbles out korean* and i was like you know , i know you are badmouthing me in korean so dont even try it* then she glares at me, and says DO U WNT IT OR DONT U?! and slams the gloves on the table. and i was like well if you are yelling at me in that way NO I DONT!
dont worry about that manager! some ppl are just difficult to deal with, dont waste your time on ppl like that. Amnd besides, X-Seven isnt the greatest in the world LoL
but for her to SAY SHE made the work was just utter pathetic. Taking credit of someone elses works is just pathetic.

I get my anti social moments. But really, if you just act a slave driving mistress and crack a cat at me, I'll warm right up to you if you just chat with me, I'm pretty easy going. I was standoff-ish at first with Rae even, but then we got to know each other, and now we often sit next to each other or share a table at cons and get along fabulously. XD Same with several of the other artists at Ani. But even if you had tried to talk to me on the Sat, I couldn't have answered. I really was dead on my fee that day. X___x

It looks like a ton of other artists (published ones!) I've seen. >_> It just looks like generic anime/manga as far as I'm concerned. ~_~ Blah. And honestly, one of the main contributing factors to her popularity is that most of her artworks are fanart. Other than that, her artworks aren't THAT awe inspiring or breathtaking. She seriously had no right to tell you to get your own style when quite frankly, I wouldn't call what she has an original style to begin with. That she claims to have her own style is certainly very arrogant. I don't blame you for being turned off her work. >_> Personal relations has a huge influence on how you like something.

i went to watch a movie with friends and went shopping, eat out and stuff, was pretty good. *alot of walking tho O_O;; went home early caz i feared the crowed DX and half of the time paying full fare caz i couldnt find my student card *realising i left it in my school bag when i got home crying *

i'm on CG block *faints* how long does it usually take you to CG/lineart?? *out of curiosity* caz your works are soo pweety *_*

for me takes me like 20hrs+ if i want good detail...caz i'm so noob >////<

It takes me lot and lots of time. >_> I don't count the hours. Artworks can take 1-3 weeks of solid work, depending on the detail. And stop saying you'r a nobb. You're not! X_x
