Did you see the artical about an astronaut proclaiming alien life...
I think it's ridiculious that someone would believe that life started elsewhere. The chances of life on earth is low enough, it's almost (perhaps is) impossible for an organism to larger than a single cell organism and is able to reporduce to form on earth in the first place. If you are speaking scientifically, it is pointless to even concider it.
If you are speaking religiously, as most of my views are, then it is very possible, but I still doubt that God would have made other life. But who knows, God does as God wills.

@redmoon well, i'm not religious at all (actually, i'm atheist) and I do believe there is the possibily of life outside earth! If you take the size of the universe which is so big it's almost impossible to reach its end, if there is really an end, the probability that the same conditions that allowed life, the way we know, would appear again in other places in the universe is small but it's there and that's why I think that there's life outside this planet, maybe too far away for us to see it...
Besides that, who says that can't be other ways of life? Maybe completely different from the way we are! And it is said that life always finds a way...
I believe in science, I do, but the science we know is almost a baby compared to age of the earth! We don't know everything, science doesn't know everything and things keep constatly changing, evolving, mutating, so it's hard to keep track of that! I mean, less than a couple of centuries back scientists believed the atom was indivisible!
Anyway, science is, hopefully, going the right way, we got a long way to go and if we don't end up killing the planet and ourselves, maybe we'll get to a point that we get to really grasp the universe...

Personally, I'm all for alien life, with double thumbs up and everything. It'd make my world domination plans a whole lot easier if daleks already existed.
