A LITTLE VANITY...


WARNING: This post is a bit self-centered. It's asking for art of myself.
OKAY PROCEED.

Name: MacKay, aka blue.
Age: Approaching 30
Setting: The real world

Appearance:

Eyes: Big and blue

Hair: At the moment, about mid-back, auburn, with a big chunk underneath bleached out with a minty green tint to it. Usually pulled into some kind of braid, or two braids.

Face: Round and chubby, with a turned-up nose, surprisingly small ears, and a pale conplexion littered with freckles.

Body: Tall and fat, with a lot of hip and a lot of boob.

Clothing: Dresses, 100% of the time, frequently with leggings or brightly colored tights. Samples will go here!
I would especially love art, though, of me in the pirate costume in the refs.

Personality: Sarcastic and funny and sometimes a little bit mean.

ABIGAIL GOODWIN...


Name: Abigail Goodwin [Abbey]
Age: 24
Setting: Wardwood; Regency-era fantasy.

Appearance: Ramrod straight, slim and boyish, Abbey's a bit tall for a woman and that's about all she has going on. Extremely pale skin is spotted with wild freckles, bluish in the shadows, very pink in any extreme of weather. Her eyes are blue and huge in her face and where people most often focus, as her lips are too thin, her nose a little bit hooked, and her hair, a riot of deep orange red, is always pulled back into a tight braid down her spine.

Personality: Extremely bright, and more than merely well-educated -- fluent in several foreign languages, well versed at the piano and the flute, with a background in art and poetry -- Abbey knows what she needs to know to be a good governess. Add on top of that a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor, and she is rather good at her job. Her charges, three girls aged fifteen, eight and seven, find her acerbic nature amusing and delightful in turns.

On a day to day bases, she tends to keep herself closed off and away from people. She is shy, though that doesn't close her mouth among company; rather it sets her tongue going, covering up her own discomfort and self-doubt with sharp comments that draw attention onto the people around her. Social occasions make her stiff and nervous and she would much rather consort with books and music than with other people.

Relationships: Abigail is bonded to Guardian deer named Verdain. She is very likely to be seen in his company, potentially even riding him sidesaddle.

AMORY BLAINE...


Name: Amory Blaine
Age: ???, looks 18-19
Setting: Modern fantasy

Appearance: Dark-haired with vibrantly green eyes, Amory is beautiful -- in an unnatural sort of way. He is fair, looks youthful but healthy, with a pointed chin and an elegant Roman nose. If he'd lived in ancient Athens, he likely would have posed for sculptures.

He's likely to tell you he did.

By modern standards, he's considered short, but once upon a time he would have been taller than average -- five and a half feet with a slim but attractive build, more delicate than anything else, he counters his natural beauty by going entirely grunge. Shredded jeans and long hair that is usually unkempt around his face, metal band t-shirts under a battered leather jacket, most of his style cues seem to come from 80s punk and rock and roll.

Personality: Amory is Grade A schizophrenic, frequently losing his hold on this world and dissolving entirely into another. He's prone to disorganized speech and fits of paranoia or violence, the occasional hallucination. When he's lucid, he's an a*****e who tends to push sarcasm two steps too far, into cruelty, mocking and indifferent.

Relationships: He's the dude who made Ever a vampire.

CHARLES HARKINS...


Name: Charles Harkins [Charlie]
Age: Early to mid 30s
Setting: Modern Fantasy

Appearance: Charlie's about 6' even, with dark brown hair that's just long enough to be pulled back into a messy paintbrush ponytail. His skin is white, but it's not porcelain pale. He also generally has a five o'clock shadow.

His face is square-jawed and strong, a classic 'all-American' look, except for his mouth which is almost excessively full.

His eyes are gold, rimmed with a very dark ring -- like the eyes of a red tailed hawk. This is because, well, he has a little red tailed hawk in him; he also has banded hawk wings. They can be either miniature or full-sized, because they take on either form. Full sized, they are in fact big enough that, combined with his hollow bones, they can lift him off the ground. Miniature they are stubby little things still touched with soft down.

For clothing, he wears dark colors, fitted shirts and comfortable pants, but I enjoy some flight of fancy, so some freedom here. Usually, he's in a modern fantasy setting, so he wears leather [or dragon skin!], battered jackets, black t-shirts, steel toed boots, but something crazier, wilder, or more fantasy is always welcome!

Personality: Charlie is angry, stoic and stubborn; he has a lot of frustration and negative emotions that he keeps carefully under wraps...but when he bursts, it's frequently disastrous.

EARNEST JOHN...


Name: Earnest John Worsley
Age: 36
Setting: Wardwood; Regency-era fantasy.

Appearance: Earnest John has a stretched-out frame that leaves him looming over most men at a shocking height of 6'6". His limbs are long and too-skinny, his hands long-fingered and spidery, with strong knuckles. His neck is similarly stretched, with a very prominent Adam's Apple frequently covered in fine pale stubble. Sandy hair is kept cropped short with long sideburns, almost muttonchops. Dark eyes, usually narrowed, peer out from below heavy brows. His clothing is shabby but proper, worn but not patched, and just slightly out of fashion.

Personality: When people call him 'Earnest', it's frequently with a bit of a laugh — because he is most certainly not. No. He is a greedy man with a long grasp, and there are quite a few other titles people prefer to give him: spider, weasel, rat, none of them are half so flattering as the name his parents gave him.

The most important personality traid Earnest John has is his view on life [Me first!], followed, perhaps, by his adaptability. Few people know much about him other where he lives, and where his shop is; other than that, he makes up a litany of lies, never telling the same stories about his family twice.

He has a pride to him, but mostly it's a pride that keeps him from sniveling, not one that guides him away from shady dealings. Damned if he cares where the goods came from, so long as the Constables aren't going to come a-knocking on his door. Sure he'll buy your embroidered handkerchiefs, but he'll hike the price if he has to remove the monograms…

Relationships: Earnest John is bound to a Guardian deer named Horus. Horus is a huge prankster and troublemaker.

ELI GREENE...


Name: Elisha Greene [Eli]
Age: Mid-thirties
Setting: Modern Fantasy

Appearance: Eli is slightly shorter than average at around 5'5", with an average build. As a cop, he has to keep in shape, and he mostly does so -- strengthening fat to muscle while still retaining a softness around the edges. He is not cut, he is just fit.

His face is sharp, with a pointed chin and a long nose. His mouth is wry, with a narrow upper lip that leaves him looking somewhat cynical. His eyes are somewhat narrow, darkly lashed and surprisingly feminine in the strength of the rest of his face, and are a muted grey that might seem blue or green depending on the clothing he wears, and his mood.

Even at thirty-five, his once-black hair is speckled here and there with white strands, and it's much worse if he tries to grow a beard. That will generally come out mostly-grey, sparse, and unattractive. So he doesn't. He generally crops his hair around the ears, just long enough that he can tuck it back out of his face if needs be.

He always tends toward collared shirts and black slacks. Off the job, he might wear jeans, but generally does not; he'd rather something comfortable and a little wider in the leg. His shoes of choice look like loafers and feel like sneakers, in brown or black.

Scars and markings wise, he has a faint discoloration and distortion where he once wore a wedding ring on his left hand, but which is now blank. There is a faint but distinct line from his temple down one cheekbone to his jaw, jagged and light, that likely came from hitting his head. Beyond that, he is startlingly unscarred.

Occasionally, silver will flash across his skin; completely covering his eyes or moving like a ripple over his face.

Personality: Robotic and vaguely sociopathic, Eli has an infectious parasite that is slowly sapping away every bit of personality he once had. Hopefully someone will catch on and fix this soon...

EVER AMBRODIEL...


Name: Ever Ambrodiel
Age: Late twenties, but he looks about 17.
Setting: Modern Fantasy. He's a vampire. He doesn't sparkle.

Appearance: Ever looks like a scrawny, pale, half-starved teenager. He tops out at 5'11" and 125 pounds -- for the record, this is pretty severely underweight, all skinny limbs and big hands and feet. His features are sharp and hawkish, his nose about a size and a half too large for his face, with a bend in the bridge from where it was broken once and never properly set.

Skin color is very pale, with almond-shaped black eyes - not brown but black, wide and unfocused, like the pupils have dilated up to completely absorb the iris, behind bulky black glasses. His hair is a snowy white, soft and fluffy, and is usually cut into wild spikes. It varies in length, sometimes cropped closer to his head and sometimes longer, but it never grows past the bottom of his ears. He has a spiderweb of slashing scars up the insides of his arms, from the elbow to the wrist and continuing up his palm to the tips of his fingers.

Sometimes, when he's smiling too big or trying to be threatening, you can catch just a glimpse of pointed canines.

He usually wears all shades of black and white, his clothing worn soft with holes in the most commonly used areas - knees, the hem/elbows of his shirt, around the bottom of his pants - like black jeans or sweat pants and layered shirts/hoodies. It's generally big enough to hide the skinny frame, heavily layered to make him look larger, and it's always comfortable. His boots are black, sturdy and ancient, held together with duct tape. He carries an old black messenger bag over one shoulder, with emergency supplies [like a change of boxers] in it.

He always wears a slim silver lightning bolt pendant on a long black cord around his neck, though it might be tucked into his shirt.

He is almost always smoking.

Personality: Ever is a d**k. Snarky and somewhat fatalistic, he likes to push peoples' buttons and is willing to accept the consequences of doing so. He's extremely social, partly because he goes hunting in social places - like bars, clubs, restaurants - but he also isn't completely connected to reality. He manipulates people, but it's still surprisingly easy to manipulate him, since [despite his jaded and cynical demeanor] he's so damned trusting. When he smiles, it's more of a crooked wry expression, as opposed to a joyful smile.

Relationships: Gay with a godawful commitment problem, Ever has had a lot of boyfriends, and even more one-night stands — delicious dinners. I'll try to get up some info about some of them here, so you can draw couple art if you're interested!

GABRIEL NIGHT...


Name: Gabriel Night
Age: Looks about 40
Setting: Modern Fantasy

Appearance: A little over 6 feet tall, with a strong jaw and a stable frame, Gabriel is bronze-skinned with dark hair -- kept long, usually pulled into a tail down his spine. His eyes are brown with a decisively reddish sheen to them, his mouth very full and equally serious. It is a rare sight to see him smile, and usually more dangerous than it is appealing.

Usually he wears suits, well-tailored and comfortable, without ties, in charcoal grey over grey, in muted colors, nothing colors. His shoes are the most fashionable things he owns, fine pointed shoes that fit perfectly, comfortable and classy.

Personality: People have observed that Gabriel is literally incapable of recognizing a joke; most of the references are met with stony eyes and absolutely no smile. Those who know him more personally, however, realize that this isn't entirely true. He just finds most of the jokes stupid, and thus doesn't indulge them by responding.

This is a good metric of his relationships with, well, everyone. All his interactions have an edge of holier-than-though to them, a refusal to stoop to the common denominator. Gabriel obviously thinks he's better than most people, and the result is someone self-confident, self-certain, and arrogant. Everything he does is for himself, as he is the most important person in his life. If you're not doing him any good, he'll throw you under the bus.

There are very few exceptions to this rule.

IAN GALLAGHER...


Name: Ian Gallagher
Age: 24
Setting: Modern Fantasy

Appearance: Around 6' tall, with too-wide features that are attractive but not astounding. His teeth are just a little uneven, his hair a burnished red and his eyes green, extremely Irish. He is freckled, with big hands and long legs and very wide, broad gestures. He's a cop, and is usually found in uniform. He's also a werewolf, so sometimes is found totally naked.

Personality: He is friendly but flitters like a butterfly from one person to the next, never quite committing to anyone for any length of time. He is good-natured but not too terribly bright, but is scrappy and loyal and kind.

Relationships: He once worked closely with Eli Greene, but Eli left the force, leaving them at odds.

JAKOB LARKIN...


Name: Jakob Larkin
Age: 16-ish
Setting: Wardwood; Victorian Fantasy.

Appearance: Somewhat square-jawed with a heavy chin and eyebrows that are heavier still, in several years, Jakob could be an attractive man -- assuming, of course, that he managed to eat a bit better. As it is, he is worn lean and sharp, with narrow eyes and an emboldened, challenging edge to his posture. Most days he is wind-chapped and cold, frequently sporting a bloodied lip or a black eye. Dark hair is kept cropped short and ragged, up off of his face. Dark eyes are bright and attentive.

Though orphaned teenager he might be, dressed in ragged and patched clothing under a fairly-fresh coat, one-on-one it's hard for Jakob to garner sympathy, due to the cocky tone of his voice and his obvious unwillingness to indulge in pity. This only fades away when he's trying to milk something out of a stranger.

Personality: Under no circumstance could one really call Jakob naive, but in his way, he is something of a dreamer. Capable of taking care of himself [mostly], slipping through the cracks of the city and finding enough food and shelter to keep him alive and under cover, he quietly and inwardly burns with frustration, impotently furious when he sees the rich bandying around their goods, as if they deserve them merely from having been born into them.

He is irreverent and sly, cocky and unapologetic, frequently charismatic, balanced with a healthy dose of something vulnerable and fragile. He has easily wounded pride, and a sharp tongue.

Relationships: He sometimes does some work for Earnest John Worsley

JUDE HARROW...


Name: Jude Harrow
Age: 28
Setting: Modern Fantasy

Appearance: Jude is small and slim: a fine, bird-like frame that leaves him looking somewhat fragile, with long fingered hands and very smooth, tanned skin. His face is sharp, with a strong jaw and narrow, dark eyes under somewhat heavy brows, and just as heavy eyelashes. The line of his mouth is narrow and serious, most of the time -- but when he smiles it's very broad, his teeth flash very white in his mouth. His hair is somewhat curly, golden blond, usually kept cropped close to his head and immaculately groomed back with gel.

He likes things proper and tidy, and as such, he usually wears very well-fitted three-piece suits, even down to the tie, with shiny-clean black shoes. He is not afraid of brightly-colored shirts and ties, or old-fashioned, unusual cuts. He loves tie tacks.

He is also a dragon, something which manifests visibly sometimes in the form of fine, pearly, iridescent scales in pale pink and blue and purple and green that form at the corners of his eyes and mouth, along his cheekbones, on the backs of his hands.

Personality: Persistence is Jude's greatest trait, seconded by curiosity. He comes off serious at first meeting, but it's mostly just self-restraint and self-control. Once he gets to know people better, he actually has a rather good sense of humor, a wry smile, and is open for just about anything. He is, however, largely an introvert, happier with a small group of people than with a large one.

Relationships: He is involved in an amusing relationship with a rather rough, earthy dragon named Xiang. I'll get some more info up for him soon.

KELLY MCGRATH...


Name: Cillian McGrath [Kelly]
Age: Looks about 30-35
Setting: Modern Fantasy

Appearance: Average height, slim and lean, his face is somewhat long and square of jaw, emphasized by a closely-trimmed, somewhat scruffy dark beard. His hair is a light brown, curling over the tips of his ears and brushed back out of bluegreen eyes.

His eyebrows are sharp, low over his eyes, and his features by nature are focused and intense, masculine.

He dresses, generally, in battered dark-wash jeans and well-fitted collared shirts/vests, leather jackets, and shoes without laces -- something he can easily kick off if required.

Personality: Kelly is, by nature, a loner. He has friends, here and there, but he has always [and probably will always] live alone. In general, it won't occur to him to go to other people with problems, nor to help others unless they ask. It's not that he's not altruistic, because the second someone does ask, he's there in a heartbeat to handle whatever problem they might have. He just likes to be asked.

His sense of humor is dry in a way that sometimes people don't understand, deadpan other than an amused arch of eyebrow. Despite his age, he is not particularly patient; it's not that he's in a rush to get things done, not really, but more due to the fact that he expects people to know more than they do, and doesn't like having to explain details.

He can also take on three animal forms; a fox and wren and a bear, all colored similarly to his hair, with his eyes.

He has a pet dog, a giant of a good-natured Bernese Mountain Dog named Brady.

Relationships: He is involved in a relationship with a fairy called the Grimm. More info to come!

LAOISE RUE...


Name: Laoise Rue
Age: Around 30.
Setting: Wardwood; Victorian fantasy

Appearance: When she comes out of the woods and into the city, townsfolk are often horrified by Lee's appearance: a savage hunter wrapped in furs and painted up to blend in with the trees and the wildlife, with a shock of hair so red that it leaves them superstition and uncertain. It is flaming red, it is mad, matted here and there, like a lion's mane around her face, and laced through with feathers.

Everything about Laoise speaks to a wild creature more than it does to a woman, to someone dangerous and crazy. Her features are neither feminine nor pretty: her face is long, thin, and somewhat masculine. Her nose is very straight and perhaps a bit oversized. Her mouth is straight, narrow, and very rarely splits into a smile.

Her eyes, fierce and focused and always on the move, might be the most unsettling thing about her, more predator than human...

Personality: Infused with confidence, Lee never considers the possibility that any aspect of her personality should change. She is not afraid of who she is, and doesn't suffer from self-doubt: certain that she's attractive and capable, she holds herself with poise and generally that is all she needs. Even when she doesn't know what she's doing, this aura of certainty can make her seem more in control than she really is, and her sharp tongue will add weight to this.

In the heat of the moment she is decisive, willing to take any action instead of being paralyzed by uncertainty. However, she also lacks a certain amount of caution, meaning her actions are reckless, wild and crazy. She is unable to take criticism -- and this, combined with her short-temper, means that she thinks she can do no wrong and is likely to blow up in someone's face when they try to tell her she's messed up...

Relationships: She's in a relationship but not married to Breu Caffal.

LOU GEOFFREYS...


Name: Lou Geoffreys
Age: Looks late 30s, maybe 40.
Setting: Modern Fantasy

Appearance: Lou is a big hunk of man; tall and broad-shouldered, he's built a bit like a linebacker, with just a hint of a beer belly starting to develop. His face is square and strong, with a perfectly straight nose and blue eyes that seem to get brighter when he's in a good mood -- and paler, cooler, when he's angry. His hair is golden blond and cropped into a cut that would be corporate, if not for slightly-too-long sideburns. He has absolutely no scars. He tends toward extremes, either Armani shirts or black t-shirts under canvas jackets, military style, or silk pajamas, or completely naked when he can get away with it.

Personality: Arrogance and self-certainty personified, Lou believes that he is [more or less] the most perfect being ever to grace the planet. In a lot of ways, he might be right, even. It's a confidence backed by power, and that shows in the way he smiles [often, dimpling], the way he walks, the way he speaks, the way he stands just a little too close. He also is genuinely unkillable.

Relationships: Lou is....Zeus-like. He is Captain Jack Harkness likes. If it moves, he hits on it. I would love to see him surrounded by a bevy of beauties or crazy alien chicks or weird supernatural creatures lmao. He doesn't discriminate.
