I just get sick of drawing my own avi all the time, and there's no way I'm going to pay someone to draw something that I could draw myself. I tip well, but I never order art anymore. I used to do freebies, but haven't (as you said) been in the mood for drawing. :/

That's fair, Typo. I like seeing other people's styles and views on my avatar, so I commission occasionally, but never anything more than 20k or so. XD
And I heaps prefer the AF, so many nice people. ^_^

I love the art people sell, but sometimes I don't have the gold, and I can draw most of it the same anyways.
I'm just bad with the shading when I'm lazy.

I just find that paying what I believe to be appropriate for quality is better than someone else telling me what I should pay them when they don't know how it's going to turn out. I bought two pieces from a friend of mine. The first, i was satisfied with. The second, I was appalled that I had paid the price I did. Granted, it wasn't bad, but I paid out about 20k for this piece, and I should have gotten 20k's worth of effort into it. :/
