UPDATE:
Hi all. I'm still alive. Sorry I haven't been on in the last few days...It's because I was busy working on my commission for Masato Pearls. I turned it in around 3am last night, and they're going to review it and get back to me in the next couple days. *yay* So hopefully they like it, use it, and spread the word that I'm available for freelance illustration. After I know whether or not they're using it, I'll probably post it on my DA or in the thread. But because of doing this commission, look what I learned to draw!
Anyway, because I finally hooked up my tablet to my computer and had some time to draw, I ended up checking out a tutorial online and wanted to try it out. Of course, like always, what I thought would just be a quick sketch ended up getting almost completely fleshed out...If you're interested, the tutorial can be found
here on youtube. He has some good tips and ideas, but he can sometimes be a little goofy.
The only problem I find with this tutorial, is that I ended up drawing a very simular face to his because of the grid. Granted, I've done a different expression as well as made it female, but they look like they could at least be siblings if not someone who's cross-dressing. lol. The other thing is that although this has some good tips for this particular angle, you'll run into some trouble if you try anything past the first step for any other angle. You can only apply it to other things if you understand how the features are fitting into each area and where to place the guides. Anyway, some of his other videos can be fun to watch, so if you feel like it/want to watch how to tutorials, there you go.
Also, to any writers out there. If you're interested in submitting a very short story (which you can leave open ended if you want), I'm looking for something I can possibly make a small comic out of. Otherwise, I might use some folklore or something like that so that I can try playing around with it. I've been reading Orange Marmalade recently, and it's reawakened my desire to try doing a comic. I really love the way it's laid out and flows, so if you have something that you think would work well in this format, feel free to submit something.
You can either post it here, or PM it to me, but please head it with SUBMISSION so that I know to pay attention to it. Also, I'm not looking for a romance like Orange Marmalade, so be original! I'm looking for something engaging, witty, and fun to draw. I have a relatively short attention span, so that's why I want it to be a short story to start off with. If it's a lot of fun and we both want to keep going, I'm open to that, but baby steps first... Also, if you feel like you weren't able to portray everything about your characters that you wanted within the story, you may describe them in further detail in a section AFTER the story. You can also submit in any form you'd like, so if you're a beginning artist, and have a story you've always wanted to flesh out, feel free to submit storyboards. I'd love to see them! ^_^
Anyway, sorry for the long update...I'll stop being lazy and get to work on some of the pieces I've said I'll do. >_< Hope you're all well!
