Why did you start drawing?

I don't even remember. I'm one of those people who had been drawing before they could even speak. XD; Natural inclination, I suppose. When I was little, I thought my pictures were horrible (even though in retrospect, they were pretty good considering my age), so I hid them from everyone else. Around second grade, I started getting praises on my art, so that's when I realized art was something I was good at.

Almost all small children draw. I just did it more often, and never quit drawing when I reached the age where most people move onto "less childish" hobbies.

Yes and perhaspe this is one of the reason some people come out of highschool and just seem so "talented" at drawing and why I was so "bad". XD What's a "less childish" hobby anyways? Most people just watch tv, play videogames, or browse the internet, or use social networking these days...

It's something I always did, pretty much. Most small kids like to draw (or so I guess) and I kind of never stopped. I admit, manga/anime did give me a bit of an incentive to draw more, but I moved on to realism (or, attempting realism wink ) after that. And my Art teacher in school was really sweet and supportive as well.

I drew for the hell of it you know when I was like little.
But around the time I turned 12 like my friend came running up to me with this picture she had drawn. She had sat and stared at this like anime magazine and drew a the same image from it.
It was the most mind blowing drawing I had ever seen.
I was consumed with jealously and rage. I wanted to draw just as well.
So it was my Envy that really consumed me to push and draw to be better than her.
It wasn't till high school that I realized art wasn't something you just try to be better at, and it became more a hobby, a love for something to do more and more.
I actually want to make comics. But anyway. Jealously is the reason I started to drawing in the first place so yeah.

Oh yeah, and as I was little Dragon Ball Z was like my main infatuation to begin drawing with so my art was really ugly at first- then Inuyasha came along. It took a while for me to work out my own style but I'm still managing today- this summer will be my 8th year of drawing.

when i was in kindergarten we had an art assinment. i told me teach that drawing was stupid. it really wasn't it's just that i thought i sucked at it. but when she finally made me draw it turned out waaay better than the other students. everyone was like oohing and aaawwing over it. but i had no idea why they were cuz i thought it was ugly. when i'm drawing i demand what i think is perfection from myself. so i practiced to be better more perfect than before. and it's a burning sensation that will never leave,a challenge i'll never win but i accomplished something and that's part of what keeps me going.

I started drawing when I met with one of my friends after a year who in that time started drawing anime but, I started getting serious in the 5th grade, when I met my now best friend.

i got into arts during my years at primary school.
my reason was because i had nothing better to do when i was home at the time.(now i watch anime and read manga)
the teachers would also ask me to do art posters and stuff.
the time i REALLY got interested was when ,y vision of art evolved u can say. i wanted to get better.
i grew tired of drawing stick people and battle airships and started working on 2-d drawings.
but ii stopped drawing afterwards.

at the end of my 1rst year in secondary school i noticed someone who drew so well i was creaped out by how his drawings turned out. i started challenging him then i got better and better( by drawing first thing in the morning, when i get to school, in classes, at gym, during lunch, on the bus, at home etc.)
u can say that by seeing someone who drew better than i did, i felt the urge to start over(competitive spirit).

my last motivation was while i was watching devil may cry the anime. it made me excited. decided to become a character designer for vid games and anime since then.so started learning how to draw males and to my surprise they mostly turn out like dante.(still working on fixing that even if it's not bad)

those r my motivations.
thing is, when life goes on, it seems to evolve. unless u have really been seduced by one motive, u'll always find a new one. either that or u'll just get bored and quit.
