Why did you start drawing?

I've recently been rather curious about this.
Why did you people start drawing in the first place?

My reason, is actually pretty stupid. I really just wanted to "show that I can" to my teacher. I just wanted to irk him, really xD And so, I'm not serious about this whole arting business, And, it boggles me as to why people would start drawing anyway.

And this is my first time ever coming into the art discussion forum. So not sure what sort of response this is going to get ._. I hope I did it right.

That's why I ask people when's the first time they truly became involved in art, started taking it as something personal, not just a thing. For me this was probably 7th grade, I've always been crafty but I really got into it in 7th grade.

But...what made you really get into it in 7th grade?

I had the most amazing art teacher in middle school and I think I finally had enough self control to sit down and work at it.

I've always liked to draw, and when I was young, people always told me I was good at it. So I kept drawing.
Then in middle school I first encountered anime and manga, and started drawing that because I thought it looked cool. After high school I got sick of the generic mold I had trapped myself in and started figure drawing sessions.

I still draw because I like to make comics and tell stories smile

Why did I start drawing?
Well, mainly because I had no friends.
Then my babysitter pushed me to do it more.
Which really helped in the end.

I started drawing because I wanted to find a way to express myself besides writing. Almost every summer I pick up a new hobby or learn a new skill to learn to keep myself from being bored. I picked up drawing really well, the start of this year when I got the most amazing teacher ever!

well i gess i started drawing bc i just always watched alot of pokemon growing up and i always use to draw..... and i still draw to this very day.... lol

You know, I'm not really sure why... I just know that ever since I was in preschool, or something around that age I just loved to color and draw. It was entertaining for me. =) So, I guess you could say that I just find it entertaining. =) When I was little at school, when all the other kids were playing with balls, or in the sand, I was coloring. XD

I'm also a very visual-type of person. I remember most thing s by how they look, and not of what they do/say, so that could also be another reason.
