Welcome to Gaia! ::

ChibiAru
But what if ya put up your art on another site and somebody see's it and think your seelin or copyin? I have some fan art that are my oune but I put them up on another site befor I knew about this one. Douse it mean I can't post my art up? confused

Besides what Hakubaikou mentions, also what you can do is mention on your other site what your Gaia user name is. Many artists do this... and it makes it easier to check on who is here. I'll usually check someone's links section because that is where they sometimes have Gaia banners.
All right, I need to make sure of that. ^^
well i fell a little bit smarter now that i know that and thank you for that 4laugh
I'm still a bit confused in the fan art area...Maybe someone would be kind enough to clarify...

I plan on doing a Star Trek fanfic manga. Take this image...

User Image

The setting is Star Trek, the background is a Photoshop 'painting' based on a photo from the show and the character's pose is based on one Uhura/Nichelle Nichols was in. The character is original, handrawn and photoshop colored. If this picture OK or not?
thats cool about the painting of star trek . . . i love stae trek

Fanart or original, the rules are pretty much the same. So the background is just a photomanip? I'll be honest and say I'm not sure of Gaia's standing on those, so you should ask Leloi. Unless it's a stock photograph, I'd personally say it'd be against the rules, but Gaia might allow it with credit to the owner. I can't find any reference to photomanipulations in any of the PP or AA rules.

But regardless, if you copied any of the character image directly from a photo, then it breaches Gaia's rules. If you're not sure of the difference between copying and referencing, that's what the first post explains very well ^^

I appreciate the heads up - the character image if an original using reference as a sort of homage. I'll keep the above in mind as I do the fan manga.

As for photomanipulation, since were not sure I'll keep it to a minimum.

Thanks again and I hope you all read it and enjoy it! whee
