The Art Infringement Report

Welcome to the Art Infringement Report.

Do not spam in this or any other thread in Art Discussion... this is a spam free forum. Spam will be deleted and warned for.

Previous incarnations of this thread dealt mainly with Art Arena infringements. Lately more and more reports have been coming in from Picture Post and Minishops so the decision was made to expand the thread to cover all of Gaia.

Same reporting practices will apply to the thread. Post links to art and proof of theft/copies. This includes works in which the artist claims to be the author of a pre-existing copyrighted image, uses linework and images obviously copied by eye. Pose jacking by using the skeleton framework is not considered theft unless other aspects such as flesh and clothing design are the same.

To aid in investigation, please be sure to include the following information:

Art Arena
Quote:
User Name: (and/or User ID number)
Link to Art Arena image: (use the "Link to this page" URL)
Link to Proof:

Picture Post
Please use the Thread Report System to report copies/art thefts in Picture Post. Please include this information in your report:
Quote:
Name of real artist (or series if official):
Link to Proof:

If you have a hunch that it's stolen or copied, you may post it here, asking others to help find it.

Minishops (and all subforums)
Please use the Thread Report System to report copies/art thefts in Minishops and subforums. Please include this information in your report:
Quote:
Name of real artist (or series if official):
Link to Proof:

If you have a hunch that it's stolen or copied, you may post it here, asking others to help find it.

This thread is not intended as a witch hunt. Continued accusations without facts to back them up are pointless and may be removed. Off topic posts will also be removed. The mods are the ones who punish the users that violate the rules... not the reporters. We appreciate evidence but not judgments.

This is an international site... and that means a mingling of cultures. This mingling of cultures may cause misunderstandings and friction. Many people may claim to be ignorant of the rules to try and get out of punishment, but some people just may not be aware of what the rules mean (like the definition of a "copy" wink .

This thread is to help us find the rule violaters on Gaia, but it's also here to enlighten users on the difference between inspiration and theft.

A Word on Moderators
Not all moderators will pop in on the list and announce when something has been moved. Don't assume that if you don't hear from them that they aren't working on a case. Let their actions speak louder than words. Also some infringements may cross into the gray area and be found to be compliant with the rules. Those will stay up. Keep in mind while reporting that providing visual proof as well as the infringement will aid the moderator greatly.

Thread History and Additions

Wednesday, September 17, 2003
You are perfectly welcome to post cases about art theft that has occurred in areas outside of Gaia. Provided it follows the same guidelines. Not that we can do anything about it. You should be reporting it to the correct authorities if you have evidence.

Tuesday, September 23, 2003
When dealing with suspected art theft in the arena, please link using the url listed after "Link to this page:"

Wednesday, September 24, 2003
In addition to the previous update, please make sure to include a direct link or side by side comparison image for future reference.

Saturday, November 8, 2003
Collaborations are allowed. However, coloring someone else's work without their knowledge, or original intent to collaborate (such as coloring the linework of a famous artist, or just coloring random linework off of the internet) is not allowed.

October 2004
The Art Arena Infringement Report's first post was revised to better accommidate art theft from all of Gaia. Renamed Art Infringement Report.

June 2005
Old thread was retired due to a missing first post. This thread started to take its place. Revisions to take into consideration the Reporting System were made.

This thread was created by observing the "Art thieves: report them!!!" thread by k|aka|ou and "The -temporary- Art Thieves Thread" by DaftPunk

Congrats to Rumiko Takahashi for finally completing Inuyasha! It's been 11 years and 1 month, 558 chapters (56 books). Last chapter released June 15, 2008 by Shonen Sunday. Best wishes for your next work, Takahashi-sama!

Name of real artist (or series if official): No clue, series is Girls Bravo, I think

He gives the proof himself! A few posts down on the first page he shows the original, I took the liberty of overlaying them, set to multiply - a perfect match. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v609/Kaiser-chan/overlayonmultiply.png (compression, yeah, I know. But Photobucket would have shrunk it otherwise.)

It's linked from an avatar site, and according to the birthdate, the person is only 12.. Add in the fact that there's no description, and I don't understand why anyone would want to punture those squares into their precious drawing.. He also did only join today. So. Yeah.

This is one of his drawings from March of this year:

I highly doubt that without copying/tracing his images he would capable of the Girls Bravo calibre...That would be a lot of improvement in a few months.

Suspicions abound in love_pixie's gallery. Considering there's a wide gap of ability between this and that. The second link looks more like a sticker, plus she has no description whatsoever..

Gah.. Trying to report while cooking.. Not a good combo.. *rushes off*

The second image is from the manga Love Monster, by Miyagi Riko and serialized in Margaret comics. I don't have a copy of that image, but you can see more of the artist's art at the official Love Monster site. It's most definitely by Miyagi ^^;

Two different AA images:

http://www.gaiaonline.com/arena/index.php?show=view&f=2131392&sr=1&pp=1&cp=2

one looking like a scan of official art, and a pencil drawing. Someone has already mentioned that the person's art abilities vary too much between images to have created them both. I can't find the first image, but the second is found at:
http://www.skyefairy.net/sf/art/skyefairy.php
It is titled 'anime eyes' and is in the 2003 list of pictures.

Also, she (the real artist) states specifically in one of her updates that: "I have only created galleries for my artwork on Ear-Tweak, and my Deviant Art Account. Deviant Art is the only online art community that I have created a gallery on, under that one name (Devikuro). I'm not on Sheezyart, I'm not on NeoPets, I have no galleries on any other online communities. Anyone else who takes and posts my art into a gallery on any other website... is not me."

(And besides that, she has nearly impeccable gammar/spelling, sesshomaru14wind obviously does not, which cements the fact even more.)

Couldn't of been done with a "little paint" and a "little coloured pencil" with "cg". The pixel quality is really horrible and if you ask me I think the person is nuts for trying to pass off something I swear I have seen in animegalleries.net before.

if you've seen her other drawing, it's just "another phoothsop!" For some reason I dbout she did this another one of those "horrible pixel quality" in both of the images.

I really don't think these artists did these.
(ontop of that neither of them have signatures or watermarks)
