I really hate that about Etsy, I love the site and concept (and gods know the everyday person trying to make a living off their skills deserves a leg up) but people making inventory entirely off of someone else's work/creation is insulting and lazy. I wonder how many of them have the required business permits too

I can understand conventions and I definitely approve of fan art limits there.
On the subject of Christopher Hart though, no I don't like his art books but ultimately being successful selling art is not much about being good at art. I don't know about you but of all the artists I know I can only think of 2 who have super outgoing personalities and only one of them has this bright aura that dazzles you and makes you want to agree to everything she says (and so things she might want to sell you) lol Cultivating contacts/knowing people/having luck and you know something tells me that being pretty/good looking helps.
