Welcome to Gaia! ::

What is with people on here being flat out rude when someone posts a drawing? I have three posts and have gotten rude comments on all of them.

Remember people; there's a difference between constructive critisism and being rude for no reason.
Meh. There are rude people and you can easily ignore them.

::EDIT::
I retract my statement. lrn2take all comments and cirticisms.
Your responses also seem to be a bit confrontational, which obviously doesn't help current or future situations.

I can already tell that you're not going to take this thread's replies very well, but they are truth.

It happens, you can expect criticism anywhere. You should really try to take it and learn from it.

I took a look at your posts and you certainly didn't help the situation. On the one (the one for Nico) someone offered you constructive criticism. You defended yourself with the "that's my style". That's a pet peeve of many of the artists here on Gaia. If you have to use that excuse you probably didn't define your style enough to make it obvious that it was a style and not mistakes. This also probably means that you don't have enough of a base in actual anatomy to really have a style that works. Always work on real anatomy before stylizing.

Back to the "rude" comments, even though you weren't particularly rude to this one person initially it grows. Another user sees you fighting with others and they don't feel bad about being nasty. Moral of the story: Treat others as you want to be treated (and never use the "it's my style" excuse)

Now there are just plain trolls, you can just ignore them.

EDIT: I just took a look at your other post and I have one more thing to say. Get off your high horse. Just because your friends and family may swoon over your skills doesn't mean everyone else is jealous of you. There are people out there that are better then you are and know more then you do. Take their advice. Quite frankly I agree with most of what the serious posters said and I know for a fact that I am not jealous of your ability.

Well, I just looked up your Picture Post thread, and quite frankly, there was probably only one person on there being flat out rude. The rest were giving constructive criticism that you would expect from regular art classes, especially the bit about using the term "style" to cover up actual anatomical mistakes. You need to get past this excuse and actually take their advice.
Ugh. Seriously? I really hate people who give a laundry list of faults and don't give suggestions on how to fix them--but your attitude really doesn't lend to people actually wanting to help you.
I've been called a turd, loser, scum, tard among other things -_-
I don't remember saying or doing anything

Oh wells, immaturity of people xD

But it's fun to tease them back.

Only the 'ew the colors' person was being rude.

You pulled out the 'style' excuse when someone was giving you a proportion critique. Some people think the line between style and mistake is very thin. I'll tell you, it's not, and I'm sorry, your 'style' looks more like a crutch than anything else right now. But even I have an acknowledged crutch that needs to be broken, everyone does, so taking her advice would probably help you.

Also, it's always better to be appreciative when someone takes the time to crit you. If you don't like it, bite your tongue and ignore them. No one is forcing you to do as anyone says, that's the artist's gambit when listening to feedback. The last thing you need to do is get huffy and go on the defensive. It shows disrespect and usually exacerbates the situation. People who crit you are only trying to help you, not attack you. neutral
Next time you come across that simply ask them what you need to do to improve it, and if they can't answer you fully, then they will look more like an a** then before. Crits should not require being tongue and cheek or holding your hand.
If you produce a peice of s**t, and they say it is a peice of s**t, they should be able to tell you why and how to improve it.

-not targeted at you ofc-
And I hate people who are too lazy to think by themselves.
I give "laundry lists", and if the person I'm talking to is intelligent enough to know how to post their art online, then they should have enough BRAINZ to figure out that if I say "She's just too thin" it probably means I suggest to make her look fatter.

OP:
It's because your pictures are bad anatomy-wise. And you pull the "it's mai style!" excuse, which proves nothing except the fact that you're not mature enough to recieve anything except asspats.

And really, what the ******** is this "omfg ur jealous!" thing? Your art is nothing above the level of a middle-schooler who draws once a week during classes. I've seen people draw better with their feet, so really, don't get so full of yourself.

Conclusion?
Quit crying and learn to ******** draw instead.

WHY YES, I'M AN a*****e. But people like you just make me angry. Tee-hee.
What I don't understand is the "I didn't even ask for constructive criticism" deal. Are you posting art here in the hope that people will gush over it, thereby inflating your self-esteem? Most post and (nicely) ask for critique. How do you intend to improve (if you even want to - it seems that you don't feel the need to) if nobody tells you what's wrong?

Don't worry about them. Either they're jealous, or they just don't have brains enough to express criticism in a constructive way =P

:3 Laundry lists are overly brusque and best meant for people who are intermediate to advanced. They work fine for people who clearly have a grasp on drawing anatomy or on color theory or etc and just need things to be pointed out. But for a beginner or someone who obviously doesn't know a knee from an elbow or the difference between a shape and a form, a laundry list is going to be not only daunting, but confusing as well. For instance: "Their legs are too short. Hands are too small. Eyes are way too far apart" could be: "The legs are too short; the distance from shoulder to hip, hip to knee and knee to ankle is all the same length. Hands should be about as big as the face, about chin to eyebrows at least (for animu which you wouldn't base solely on head-to-X ratios), and the eyes should be one eye width apart."

That is the difference between being constructive and being curt. Because it's pretty silly to assume that everyone is going to magically know all the 'rules' for anatomy just because you do.

That part is my favorite. The rules of the Picture Post state that by posting art, you are asking for criticism, and that you aren't supposed to just brush it off.
