You can sell you prints on deviantart.com . I have an account there but I've never gone about selling prints. So, its up to you to figure it out from there xD

the printing service on DA doesn't have much of a profit margin, or can you change that? However, a lto of DA artists do print their own and sell them on their DA profiles. If you're serious about selling your art for a decent price you should probably look around for a printers place to get a good quality print and paper. If you're looking to sell your work more cheaply you could probably use something like you suggested.

Any suggestions anyone else?

It depends on how big you plan on selling these prints. You could easily make your own prints with a nice scanner and nice printer and nice paper, but size really matters here.

I think that Staples does prints. But honestly you are better off going to your friendly neighborhood competent photo shop/portrait studio (And I mean this--check them out before you decide to leave your works with these guys). It will be more expensive, buit it is honestly worth it. I had several 13"x17" prints made of some still lifes, and they cost me $30 each. And that was the cheapest price I can get that done for in my area.

Do some research about the places first though.

I've quit Gaia. I might come back someday when it stops being the stinky a*****e of the internet.
I agree with cari, adding that it really depends on who your market is.

Depending on who youre work will be focused, you must keep the quality of ur work. What are we talking is about sales. You wanna get some profit right? Then u must look after the benefit of both parts: U and your customers, so you must not spend too much money doing your prints, and you must offer a good quality to your customers, look for alternatives, look for papers that are good but cheap. Look for printshops which have a nice printing quality but are cheap. They also offer volume discounts so you can print lots of artwork and pay low prices. Its about knowing ur customers and looking for prices and nice printing services around your town, go outside and search search search...Make Recon, hope to have helped, see ya, wish u luck... dramallama ninja

You can change the dA prices if you have a Premium Prints subscription - about $25 a year. Even then, though, the profit margin is a little wonky, they have a really low base price but they take 50% of the markup as well. I have an account on another site, Imagekind, and they have a way higher base price but the markup goes all to the artist.

OP: I'd suggest using a professional printing service designed for artists, the quality of the paper and print job is way better than anything you'll get at home or even at the local copy place (Most copy places are designed for businessmen to print up huge stacks of business plans or a few informative posters. Staples does not print on sixty-inch pieces of canvas.)

There's a comparison chart for selling art on Empty Easel, which includes a few printing services (Imagekind, RedBubble, and Artist Rising), and i've heard good things about DPC Prints and BlueFlip Art as well. I haven't looked much into DPC/BlueFlip, but Imagekind, RedBubble, and Artist Rising are all free, at least for a basic account.

When you say "prints" it always makes me think of the ones you create with the plates and inks razz .

But where do you plan to sell your prints? In real life or over the internet? I know a lot of artists make some profit from selling their art prints at anime cons or comic cons. Maybe you could try and experiement and see where your biggest audience is smile .
Oh and I think if you bring your art into a printing place they might be able to make some nice high quality real life copies for you smile , I've gone to the printers quite a lot XD.

Hope that is a little bit helpful smile .
