Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hey guys. I'm a studio art major at FSC. Why? Not because I really wanted to do art as a career. But because I went to an art high school and I'm descent at it. At the beginning of the school year I didn't care about art at all except that it's fun to do when I'm really bored. And it really bothered me that I wasn't passionate about the thing that I was best at. But I went ahead with my major cause it couldn't hurt to get better at it while I figure out what I wanna do. But one figer drawing class and an amazing proffessor later, I suddenly love art. With a passion. I'm actually pretty sure that one day I'll be a proffessor, and hopefully I'll be even close to as good as him.

Anyway, whats your take on life careers and your passion for that career? Do you think love for your trade is important? rofl
I lOVE to draw. I want to be an artiest but im told it a hobbie not a career.. sweatdrop

I want to become 3D Texture artist since I love to manipulate photographs and textures and apply them to objects. (Though right now I kinda like my job animating 2D objects right now, though I can get to do matte paintings and manipulations on the side. XD). Love for your trade is important since that love is the passion for that work or else it's gonna become the good old days you never get anymore until you do sorta type of thing.... =A=;
oh yeahh i love drawing too! biggrin xd heart
Art is certainly not just a hobby. Art is so much more important than people realize.
We need art for advertising, and for designing new things like furniture and buildings and cars. But more importantly to me, art makes people think. People can realize things about themselves and about the world around them when they see a work of art that they connect with.
Art to some people is the artist's soul coming out through their work, and to some, art is simply asthetically pleasing and makes things look pretty. Either way art is very important and very much worth spending your life doing. That's what I think anyway. Art however, along with drama and things like that have been and still are becoming more acceptaple as proffessions.
If you love what you do enough, and you have the will to get better at it, then you can do anything. biggrin I love ART!!!!
I think you have to love anything that you are pursuing for a career if you want to be happy with yourself, especially art.
i love art too smile
i have been drawing since i was 9 and now im 16. i seem to stick near to the anime style but it always has a step in the realisim side too...i recently got a tablet and love it, its' taking my art to a new level... now if i learn how to color good on a tablet, i might be even better soon smile ...
You don't have to love your job but you should love your career. If you're going to take the time and effort to have a career then you'd better love it or you'll most likely go insane. Well, I think so anyway. I've personally had no career...I've done many things from landscaping to taxidermy. I've never made money on art though...and it's my passion. I was born with that passion...I think if I had to deal with deadlines and picky editors I'd hate my job...but not art.

Arts awsome But I do mostly sketches
ya, drawing is a love!!! blaugh
I don't know what I want to do as a career after school (just two more years !) But i've always been drawing, even though it was just kiddies rubbish drawings of like cats and kittens and all that. I started really taking art seriously when I was 12 or 13 and I am doing Higher Art course at (High) School.. I haven't a clue what the other equivleants would be to that. But I love to draw and I want to get into Art College after I've left school. =)
Go for your ambition though!
I want to become a children's book illustrator. Or even a writer as well!
I always knew I was good at art, but I never really realized exactly how good until this year. And I just keep growing....it amazes even me. No, I'm not bragging, or, not trying to. Everytime I learn a new technique it improves me majorly. And it happens so fast. A picture I drew last week is already out of date as far as my experience goes. It's scary.
My mother says she'll be feeding me until I'm 50....
It's not my fault everything I'm good at doesn't pay well!
i love art , but my parents won't let me draw for a career.
