NEED DIGITAL ART HELP

ok I am an experienced artist and would like to try doing some of my drawing using digital art.
I am using adobe photoshop elements 6 and could use some tips.
I am having a hard time figuring out what brush to use. I have messed with so many settings and nothing looks right. Im trying to get it to look smooth and nothing is working. any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're not using a tablet to draw with, generally the pen tool is a good alternative for making smooth lines.

Im drawing with a tablet but cant seems to get the settings right to get a nice smooth line.

I just did the one black line to show an example. You tell me...I just done think it looks right..

Hold down on your Pencil tool on the side to get the Brush tool, start using the default hard brush with your pen pressure on, it feels more or less like a real life drawing tool
