Are you protective of your sketchbook/ or any type of artbook?

Ok I'm very protective of my sketchbook. VERY. I only show it to my friends that I know draw the same things as me or intreseted in the same things. I get most of my critisicm from them.

But I swear, everytime I walk down the hallway of my school, with my sketchbook in hand, SOMEONE always have to ask "Oh can I look into you sketchbook?" I have alot of unfinished projects in my sketchbook along with some anatomy practices so I tell the person a straight "No." Do you think that stops the person? v.v They usually ask me again and get the same answer. When they can't see it, the automatically take it and start flippin thorugh it. Then I have to start explaing why I draw all these pictures and what not while I try to get it back. Then someone has to be extremely ignorant and start saying "LIEK OMG! HAHA! IT HAZ BOOBIES! LOLZ!" >.>;

So is it just me or am I protective or my sketchbook? -prays not to be the only artist-

People used to take my sketchbooks like they do to you, until I got violent with the last person who took my sketchbook without my permission. I'm not gonna go into the details, but it took three people to help the guy get his almost broken arm back. wink

Recently I did get kinda of violent. >.>;; Not that violent though! XD I hit his pressure point in his shoulder extremely hard and back handed him -not hard though- Now were the best of friends lolz :B

I'm willing to tackle someone to prevent them from looking in my sketchbook. Seriously. Nobody sees in that unless I specifically let them see a picture. And it's one picture, not the whole thing. Cause I've had this book for a while and there's maybe 4 pictures in there that don't embarrass me. Wait, three. That last one is good but the subject is embarrassing to... mmm, about half the school?

This is why my sketchpad tends to end up in my backpack. Where my computer is supposed to go. The computer is what I carry under my arm. And nobody bothers asking for that after I tell them all I can't get the internet in the school.

When I used to interact with people more, it didn't
bother me if they wanted to look inside my sketchbook
,,, as long as they asked first and I gave them permission
and they were careful (not eating/drinking around it).
If I said no and they tried grabbing it anyway... they
would get hurt real bad. No one ever tried taking mine
from me though. I suppose the kids in my school
had more respect for things like that?

Im really protective of my sketch books. In highschool, I let people see it on occassion, sparingly, mostly because I have unfinished things, so I don't like people asking "why's she bald" or "why do they have no face?" I don't take my sketch book to class so it isn't an issue now, except with my family. I do NOT want them seeing my anatomy studies because they aren't very open to nudity (even though there isn't much to see, no nipples razz ). Also, my older brother is bossy, and every time he sees my OCs he makes suggestions. No thankyou, I create to have a world of my own. Needless to say, he doesn't see my OCs.

i'm protective in a way that, i won't let my sketchbook get damaged and stuff, and i never go anywhere without it, but as for ppl seeing it? i don't really care all that much. my friends know that i paint n***s, so of course i might draw them too. i've only gotten inmature comments a few times, but really, i don't give a s**t what ppl think about what i draw, so i don't mind if they ask to see it.

I've always been the kind of person who hides her stuff. When I draw in a public place, I always do it with my sketchbook half-closed, and I place it in a certain angle so the cover hides my drawing. I always draw facing people (if there's a wall, that's perfect), so no one can look over my shoulder and I can spot them coming my way, and when somebody comes and talk to me, I stop drawing and close my sketchbook.

When I return home, I hide it safely under my bed.

I am byond protective of my sketch book! scream I NEVER go anywhere without it! If someone asks to see it i usually say no. Even to my friends because they mostly have anatomy practice and they'll be like "ZOMG IT HAZ HEADLESSS PEOPLES! OMG ITS BOOBIES! I CAN SEE HIS CROTCH!" For goodness sake it's a angle OF COURSE YOUR GOING TO SEE IS CROTCH! emo

i used to be....then i got over it. no one has tried to take mine but if someone did look at it with out my permission...i'd feel weird i guess.

Apparently young people aren't very polite or aware of personal boundaries... I have never had a problem with anyone trying to look at my sketchbooks by force. They ask politely, I say yes or no, and the discussion ends there.

I'm only moderately protective of my sketchbooks; they usually contain design sketches for my comic that would be spoilers, and therefore things I want to keep under wraps. I do let people see other pages, but typically I control what they see or don't see.

I'm protective of my sketchbooks for school. I'm a fashion design major so our sketchbooks are our lively hood and my classmates are all competition. I rarely show others my book because It get's ripped off :/

I generally don't have problems with people going all OD on my sketchbook, like trying to take it away and stuff. But I do tend to keep my sketchbook to myself because my school is full of people who look at my art and say stuff like "dude make her tits bigger!". I do show it to my close friends and relatives, though.

Nah, I don't really care too much if people pick through my sketch books or whatnot...the only time I get protective is if I know I've drawn porn in them since I'm at work and that could potentially get me canned biggrin (though, no one has cared yet)

I wasn't, and I would even let people watch me draw, until my sister and I got into a fight one day and she tried to throw it in the toilet.

Needless to say I put her on the floor. xp
