I love my sketchbook. I just hate having to explain what is in there and why.
well...you sound quite rude sweatdrop though I understand you I'm not that harsh with people with it

I don't like people watching at my sketch book...specially those idiots who think they can give you tips out of their lame/nule talent ¬_¬ (makes me want to stab them with my pencil). PLUS the thing I hate the most when some unknown idiot sits around me, they take my notebook..the explanation blabla and the the WORST sin of all... they think they are being quite lovely and friendly "DRAWING" in MY sketchbook some horrible, really unberable thing on it... ho gosh i can feel my murderer instics through my veins but I'm too soft at treating people so I don't stop 'em crying xp
Oh Jesus, I'm terribly perfective. I actually beat my boyfriend's little sister for looking through it when I told her -politely- not too. I didn't beat her hard, but hard enough to get my point across. Only my friends can look through it when they want to.

I also hate it when people stare at me when a draw. Looking occasionally I don't mind, but bending over my shoulder... *shudder*
What pisses me off is when your working on a sketch in class and just star at you.

"WHAT YOU DRAWINNNGG? WHY IS IT CRYING? WHO IS IT? OMG IT HAS BOOBS."

stfu.!
I don't get all the complaints about people looking at what you're drawing.
Don't want them to look? Don't draw while in a public setting.

People have eyes, they tend to use them to see and when something catches their fancy curiosity rises and questions may follow not long after.

It's just something you have to get used to if you're going to be doing stuff like that in public.
i get extremely over-protective over mine. I don't even let my family look at it. I'm always afraid they will freak out when they see them
i am very self-conscious about my drawings
I've gotten over being super protective of my art. It used to really bother me, but now I'm cool with people asking about my work and wanting to see it. Hell, I even let people see my anatomy studies. They were asking for it, heh heh heh.

Mostly though, it just pleases me that it pleases them. I'm glad people get a kick out of seeing my stuff. : D

However, they usually are not allowed to touch my pieces. It's my lingering pet peeve. I tell them they can see with their eyes instead of their hands when they want a closer look.

(I don't really use a sketchbook. Just stacks of paper. XD)
I always thought it was funny when people asked to see mine, cause uasually i just had ideas and rough sketches in mine. But I got alot of commision work that way. I designed alot of tatoos and I graffittid alot of clothes for money. But If the things you keep in your SB are personal and close to you, or your just self concious, then it's totally understandable to say scream NO! scream
Omg. I felt like i was the only one. Haha. My sketchbook is like...hidden. Whenever my friends come over I have to hide it because i dont want anyone seeing my sketches for two reasons.
1-They are really just things that I dont want my friends seeing. It's none of their business ninja
2-I'm really bad at drawing. crying I mean...I can hardly call them sketches. They're more like doodles. whee But I'm gonna practice and I'll get better. But until then I don't want anyone seeing what it took for me to get as good as i *cough* HOPE *cough* to be. If you catch my drift.

Yeah, like someone mentioned before, I have "guy love" in there and I go to a catholic school. O.o;;; You think about that hombre~ Then you may ask "Why don't you leave the darned thing at home?" I get ideas or inspiration like almost everyday. I have my sketchbook there because I hate draing on ruled paper. I only draw on the stuff if I forget my book in my locker.
Well, I am not very protective at all of my work. In fact I like to show my work to other people and see what they have to say. I also love the questions," What is that..." Only because most of my drawings are random dragons and stuff, so it isn't usually a person- eventually no matter who it is there has to be some explaination. I love my artwork, even though it is a lower quality than other peoples, so why not show your talent that you have been gifted with.

However, I do understand why some people are protective of sketchbooks because there is personal items in there and what not. Also people tend to be careless and mess up pages and smuge pencil drawings. v_v My poor friend let this one guy look through her book and he smeared a pencil work she had been working on really bad.

The only thing I am protective of is the other artists themselves and copying ideas that I have came up with. I look at them as competition- not that I don't want their critique or opinion, it is more so my job to be creative and come up with new creatures and things.... very vague but oh well. Yet it does not bug me really that much, unless I know the person likes to copy work. Which in itself is very very rare.

But that is very minior, I rarely get worked up about others seeing my work. I truly love it <3

Love what you do people <3

haha, I had the same thing while I was in school... except I made a game out of it. To bascially see who could be the most repulsed and who would lecture me the most.
I make no attempt to hide it these days, I think it's a little fun to watch people squirm when they realise both people tangled up in the drawing are men biggrin

touch my sketch book and die
I'm highly protective of my sketchbook. Not even my art teacher is aloud to see it, only my close friends and my parents. I hate it when people just take it from you and expect you to be okay with that.
