I think that watching anime can lead to inspiration TO draw. Cause thats usually what happens to me, i sketch while watching anime. ...But I've been drawing for a while, and I've learned human anatomy and proportions. I think you need to get the basics of anatomy down first before you start exploring the anime style.

I guess for me
it helps me develop on style

I might make you art. PM me about it or visit my journal c:

idk

I think it helps

I think actually watching anime will help you draw anime better...
But... That's just my opinion.
Input?

No. No it doesn't help you draw better. Anime is stylized anatomy, and will not help you draw better because it's not real life. You may THINK you're getting better, but the only way to really improve is drawing from the real world. A concerted effort to observe the real world will always make you a better artist.

Anime will not.

i do not agree with thoughts who say watching anime is not good for your drawing skill. i have been watching anime sense i was a child and i have learned a lot about how to draw from it. yes watching anime is not as good as reading manga when you want to learn to draw but i don’t care what others say. i have improved in my drawing ability very much from watching anime so i think that all the others are wrong. i draw my own manga now and do to the fact that i have watched so much anime and read so much anime i can tell proportions so yes i do believe that watching anime can help with you drawing skill but not as much as reading different types of manga.

You're not as good right now as you would be if you'd learned to draw from life. neutral

FAIGHTO!

Nope.

Maybe watching an anime you really like will inspire you to draw and therefore improve, but no, it won't help your art skills.
Unless there's a Bob Ross anime out there...

I do art, yes I do

i dont think watching animes helps u to draw better because there are too many different ways of drawing....
it shoud help u to draw real people but not too defined ( sry for my bad english, im german xD)... and if u have problems with drawing real people, then start with a realistig looking style, ,like the one of final fantasy ( the newer ones) maybe tis will help...

Strongly disagree.

As others have said, studying and drawing from real life will help you tremendously more than watching anime. You cannot improve your anatomy unless you study real thing; all art originates from real life.

It depends on how far along you are.

If you understand the basics of anatomy and perspective then you can compare your natural drawing style to that of an anime. Most anime doesn't have good artwork, other than Kanon/Clannad and Vampire Knights.

Manga artwork, depending on the style is actually more beautiful than anime, and it's not moving images so you can actually study pieces.

Most anime exaggerates head size over body size. Younger or innocent individuals have smaller bodies and larger heads/eyes. The opposite is true for more serious roles.

I personally can draw anime better by watching anime, not so much to watch the story or to read the subtitles, but to understand the art in it. Whenever I see a pose or a perspective that I like in an anime, I pause the video and study why the artist did what he did.

It does help, but I also understand the basics of art, and by no means will anime give you that lesson.

Mine. I will only take expensive bribes.

LOL. oh my god yes. Bob Ross-kun desu desu.

nnnnno. no no no no.

Anime is based on realism. Everything is. It's a style that comes from knowing how things IRL work, watching anime might make you better at copying some of the stylistic quirks and whatnot... but drawing-wise you'll just be making prettier people without understanding how things like anatomy and foreshortening really work. neutral

if you want to be better at drawing anime, sure, reference is helpful- but knowing realism first will make it way easier to learn what to do with all the stylization aspects.
