Why... why.... a place that claims to be for learning... and yet in their advertizement... a simple picture... you mess up?

I see this all the time. Places advertizing for animation or drawing or cgi and then showing something that has bad anatomy or clashing colors or that looks ridiculous.

I just saw this one on youtube. you know they paid a lot to post this on youtube, but it's wasted because... look at her chest and shoulder.

It just seems a really horrible waste of money to me, and always makes me question how good these places are if they don't notice stuff like that. For example, those pencils that have a "how to draw anime" instruction on them, with a face that looks like vomit. you know the ones I am talking about.
Your first problem is looking up m// harry potter fanfics.

You're looking into yaoi crap on YouTube, that's why you got a "how to draw anime" advert. It's assumed that since you're viewing that, you're a weeaboo.

Yeah, they do tailor your ads to your searches. I get game ads because I'm watching Saints Row videos. That kind of thing.

Adblock is life.
I automatically block ads from my mind even when I'm using a browser that I don't have adblock on though, so I don't have an issue with those (though I do cringe when I see them).

rofl xd

Yeah, that Harry/Draco part in the top of the browser explains it all.
Because the people they're targeting don't know it looks bad. They also won't know the teaching is crap when they join the site or that the 'animation degree' is probably bs.

Unless the ads are tailored to your YouTube searches, then it'll be the audience that has the highest statistics on the video.
Sha'nt judge you on your videos though, we're all human.

The quick answer is because they don't think anyone will notice or care. A consistent theme in the anime world is that polished turds are the norm. If its anime, even badly done, it'll go over better than anything else.
User Image This thread made me laugh so hard. xd Yeah.. when you look up music videos dealing with slash of popular characters you're not going to get the best of advertisements, especially the art advertisements. I love how it makes it look like someone is working with color pencils on something that is obviously digital. (how can you earn an animation degree online? it just seems like a terrible idea)

I was kinda hoping that slash fanaticism was ending, I mean, no problem with gay couples but if the characters arn't gay, then c'mon...

It works because the target is young inexperienced people who are desperate to become 'artists' in as short a time as possible. If an advertisement shows them a picture with the kind of quality someone with only a couple of years experience can draw, it's still more than they can do.
Coupled with words like "You can draw like this", I guess they just fall for it?

Don't necessarily knock it though, they might have very good lessons for absolute beginners (probably not, but might), just not for people near good enough to notice the mistakes in their ads?

Putting fandoms aside. I dont know what the hell is going on with that picture. I only realized a minute or two into it that she was supposed to be laying down.

I'm not crazy about people altering canon personalities to suit their fantasies, but eh...what people fantasize about doesn't hurt me at all. I'm more disturbed when they're underaged. With Harry Potter it's possible that they could be older (not all the books have them at the age of ten, but still they're all under the age of 18 here), but it grosses me the hell out when it's Homestuck characters.

Off topic, but Harry/Draco is the best.
There. I said it.

I understand that these ads cater to the animu fans of the internet, but is that really the best picture they could find for their advertisement? Jeez.

Have more gay main characters written in mainstream fiction, you'll probably get less fanpairings. /shrug

But since most gay characters are regulated to supporting cast, or obliterated completely in the editing process(particularly for YA), then chances are that slash fandom isn't going away any time soon. It's sad that big media seems to think people relate better to antropomorphic animals and toasters more than gay or genderqueer characters.

But honestly, in the end...everyone interprets things differently. Hell, I have people thinking a certain m/f pairing will happen in my webcomic while they roll their eyes at comments implying the characters are gay...when they are, it's just not relevant yet. Sure, some people's slashgoggles are going on strong, but most people's hetgoggles are stronger.

I can't stand hetero couples because more often then not the girl is a dunce. Reading hetero stories makes me want to shoot myself. Generally speaking, with slash, if it's over 80k then it's good, because most slash writers won't do 80k of shitty grammar and no plot all sex.

This isn't always true, of course.

And not that sex at the beginning of the story is bad (see the bdsm noncon and generally sadistic "Corvus Fallere" for an example of sex at the beginning of the story but otherwise kickass idea. Even if the author DOES suck at making her endings sound like endings).

But yeah. I like reading amateur work, but hate girl's personalities in most amateur work aaaaannnnd don't want to look through piles of s**t for good grammar, so I stick with slash harry potter fanfiction over 80k. It works.

Also, I don't see why changing the sexual orientation of a character should matter in the fanfiction world, when the whole point of fanfiction is to deviate from what the author wrote while still keeping aspects of the original story should matter.

so yeah D:

TLDR; I like it, to each their own.
