Awesome! I'll keep an eye on it to see when they reopen, and get some stuff together in the meantime so I'm prepared.

anime conventions for featuring Webcomics

lols, not at you but the notion of anime cons featuring any kind of art besides cosplay (especially original art?)

the only one I can think of is momocon.*(maybe katsukon?)
try for mixed cons.

Here's a question: What are the most well known anime conventions for featuring Webcomics?
What are the best cons for promoting webcomics?

Connecticon is very webcomic friendly, especially if you already have a following. If you register as a webcomic creator you get a space in their program manual and take part in the web comic creator auction.

Also, not an anime convention, but there was a first year convention on the east coast this year . . . I can't remember the name of it . . . but it was just for webcomic creators and readers. I didn't go to it . . . and am frustrated that I can't remember the name! >.<

ninniku: New England Webcomics Weekend?

Yes! Thank you.
Oh man, now you are really making me want to go, Vicemage! But it is literally the weekend before my finals. Hm. Maybe there's a way I can check the dates of my finals online...

@jillythefoo I believe SogenCon is run by some of the same people as MAC, and it seemed to go all right. I figure I can at least give it a chance.

I'll need to make up my mind and get registration sent in soon though, before the Artist Alleys start to fill up.
Hey guys! Long time no see. >_< I can actually stop by this thread again, now that finals are over. (Freedom!)

I'm in a bit of a pickle, and I'd like to know how you guys would handle this. My friend and I were going to be at Animation on Display in San Francisco. But about two weeks after I sent out the application, I got it back in the mail with the stamps missing and an 'insufficient postage' mark. D: In the meantime, almost all of their tables had filled up so they started a waiting list to avoid overbooking. I got on the waiting list as soon as I got the letter back... but now my tablemate is being a total d**k about the situation. He blames me for us being on the waiting list, and is going around telling people that I'm "Jaw-Droppingly Incompetant". Has anyone been in a situation like this before? How do you think I should deal with this?
DarKlaw: Honestly, if I'd known what was coming with scheduling... I might've done NoBrand instead of ACen this year. I'm kind of upset, my favorite convention of the ENTIRE YEAR has changed to the spring. And now it's ACen weekend, and I'm already registered for them.

I'm really not sure what would get me to go back to Sogen/go to MAC... there are those kind of things that can sour you on a particular event for a long time, and mine run pretty deep. :

Kako: Oh geez... that's horrible. I'm not sure how to handle that kind of thing. I guess that's a plus about me being the only person handling my table most of the time, I'm the only incompetent one when I ******** something up... I guess my first impulse would be to talk with him directly, but I'm not sure.
forgot to add,

manganext (if they still have it for '10) seemed like they were trying hard for doujin, webcomics and original print comics push for the theme.
Oh, I don't know how it will be, but OSFest in Omaha was quite interested in comics people when I was chatting with them a couple of months ago (I'm seeking information from them now). I don't know if they'll be a "good convention for comics," but the organizers were at least interested.
Cetriya: That seems to be their goal. I wish they'd have more ways for attending comic artists to get exposure, though. Maybe I should suggest that they put a webcomic artist section in the program guide alongside the AA section.
@Vicemage Oh, I know what you mean =/

Ever hear of QC Anime-Zing? It's in Iowa, on I-80 near the Illinois border. Same weekend as MAC. I think it's new. Very new. Trying to find some info on it...

@Kako So you put enough postage on it, and when it came back the stamps weren't there? That's really odd, but not your fault, if they got knocked off/removed after you put it in the mailbox. Sometimes the Post Office screws up. How he's acting is ridiculous, that could have happened to anyone.
Hm, interesting, but a bit spendy for me right now. That could be a good one to try though. I'll be filing that away for future reference.
That's what I was thinking too. $80 for a table and one pass? =/ It looks like Mindbridge is behind it, so it will probably have the same fanart policy as Anime Iowa.
So I think I'd rather shoot for Anime Iowa next year, and see how QC Anime-Zing goes.
