Question: Has anyone ever made homemade stickers to sell at a con?

I saw some sticker printer paper yesterday that I thought would be a good investment. I've never used it, though, so I'd like to get some feedback on people who have... If...they actually have @_@

I tried my hand at homemade stickers at AWA last year, and they were my top-selling item. Mainly because they were chibi-fied versions of various anime and game characters, not to mention I was charging a buck a pop. surprised

If you have a good printer, the quality will turn out great--I'm thinking of using a different brand of sticker paper though; I used Post-It brand, and while it's decent, the reverse side is only sticky in certain parts. I may just sell them as "reusable stickers", i.e. stickers you can use again and again since they can be removed pretty easily and be stuck elsewhere. sweatdrop But yeah; if you have ideas you'd want to try with them, by all means go for it!

are you talking about that new post-it sticker paper? I wanted to try it but if it's only sticky in certain parts then maybe not D:

I am talking about the very same. It's made to have just 5 adhesive stripes on the back; i.e. it's not all adhesive on the reverse side. neutral I need something better for my next batch. For the time being, I'll sell off my post-it stickers as "resusable stickers", since you can remove them and restick 'em anywhere.

I have some old (unused) sheets of Avery sticker paper... both restickable and permanent.

Looking at their site, it looks like the non-permanent one is still available...
3383 is plain old normal white
4383 is clear sheets

Not permanent, though, but the entire back is actually sticky, so it still might work for someone here. smile

What do you do when you run out of a print/ prints and a printer isn't close by? Do you tell your customer to come back tomorrow or have them give you their name?

Also~ Where is a good place to make pins? (I've considered buying a pin machine but they're quite expensive at $200 D: )

Usually I ask the person if they plan to be back and if they will be, I do my best to have it available the next day. (But that's after I've gotten rid of my last copy. I usually sell them the one in my portfolio book.)

If the print is among the ones I sell at deviantart, I also give them my card to remind them that they can get it there.

Everyone I know who sells buttons has their own button-maker, or shares with someone. I'd suggest finding a friend with the machine. smile

I've heard some people suggest burning CDs with the art on it so that people can take it home and enjoy it on their computer or print it out themselves. Business cards work too. Or you could have a very memorable cosplay or booth so that they'll be sure to remember you XD

I'm not sure burning CDs with the art on it would be so good of an idea. Maybe only the 72 dpi versions. Otherwise, you'd never get any print sales. D:

Some people DO sell printable artwork on CDs, though I'm sure they put a bigger watermark on it than they do for the prints they sell.

If you can, you should try to get a good, long-lasting pin machine. It might be a bit expensive, but you can search on Ebay and put together some money with other friends who want one too.
