Has one of the things very common in your art been listed? (Not that it's important for you to care...)

Also, in the vein of the "sunburned" comment a little above - blue backlighting when there is absolutely no reason for it. A lot of american comics are guilty of that, too. Gah! My eyes! Don't put lightsources where there are none!

xD If that blue-back lighting thing was inspired by my sig, I gotta say that I am guilty of it..
but I find the effect pretty cool.
And I like it in American comic art too. xD

You never know, the light source could exist, it's called a 2nd light source. I find them fun to play with. o:

bwahahahaaa! that's so true!

The blue backlight is okay, especially stand alone characters like DarkishStar, it's a way of rounding off to make it compleate. I suppose it could be overused, though.

Now, if you had characters suck in...erm...a bathroom, yeah, with a blue backlight? That would just be silly. 3nodding

The sunburnt thing, I have to disagree. I've seen some people who pull it off really cool but slapping strong hues and then a white screen (not dodge!!) doesn't really work unless it's applied right.

My baby is almost 1 omg D: // shop closed!
Wings! Wings are on everything it feels like. And to make it worse, wings are drawn on characters in such ways that it doesn't make sense. Wings are so overused that it makes me feel bad for drawing any idea I would have that actually involves wings.

But I LIKE wings. >:

Wings on creatures or people don't annoy me as much as people that don't know HOW to draw them. Unless they're decoration-only, they HAVE to have friken joints! >< And if they're feathered, the feathers have to be different sizes.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate wings at all. Otherwise I wouldn't have any ideas or characters with them, but there's just this over and misuse of them.

There's an exception to every rule.

If you draw a few lines, call it a chibi and make it rainbow colored people will worship your skills.

I agree! Angels are fine sometimes but even in popular anime shows they'll draw it so that the actual start of the wing should by all rights connect with their butt.

I don't like it when anime people's eyes are in front of the hair on their face.

Lol. I hate it when the outline of their eyebrows are boldly on top of their hair, but the coloring is off.XP

To jump off something from page three or so... people replying to fanart. Most of the time it's "I LOVE THIS CHARACTER!" and "WOW! IT'S SO AND SO!" But that's not really a critique, is it? A critique is more like... "I like the way you used beads for eyes, he looks like a primitive doll." Or "Wow... I can really tell it's so and so, you got all the details. But you forgot to give him his Jar of Dirt." I will accept, "It looks just like so and so" because making it look like what it's supposed to be is a goal, I suppose.

I posted my Water Meat and most of the comments all say, "WATER MEAT!" Yes, I KNOW it's Water Meat. But did they notice all the details?

I do fanart because I genuinely LIKE the characters I'm drawing or sewing... or I was commissioned or asked to make something for someone and I want to keep a visual record of all the things I've done. The bulk of what I'm requested to do is from a series or a game. I have done original characters and they don't get looked at.

It's probably a sign that I should move more towards art dolls or take my inspiration from old stuff, public domain or mythology...

Congrats to Rumiko Takahashi for finally completing Inuyasha! It's been 11 years and 1 month, 558 chapters (56 books). Last chapter released June 15, 2008 by Shonen Sunday. Best wishes for your next work, Takahashi-sama!

Badly drawn catgirls with IMPOSSIBLY large boobs >w>;;; *not so much talking about comics as I am talking about some people online*

I know! People draw boobs like they have basketballs glued to their chest! ><

Lol serioiusly.XD Once someone had this picture in their signature of a girl with a waist thinner than her neck and boobs that were each twice the size of her head. I laughed at it and they said, "Well it's cute."

No, it's not cute. It's disgusting.

LOLXRZ JAR OF DIRT

[/n00bishness]

*COUGH* ahem.

I don't like how fanart gets all the attention, even if the comments are idiotic, because IT BUMPS MY PICTURE OFF THE PAGE AND THEN WHEN I BUMP IT I GET YELLED AT. I mean, for Chrissakes! Most of the artwork I do is character art of characters that are going to be written and not drawn, anyway...

DarkishStar
Guh.

I HATE that one style, where the elbows, shoulders, knees, nose, and cheeks.. have that crazy pinky red color.. and then white dots piled on top. It's not cute, it's not fleshy colored.

It's sunburned.
With a bad need of aloe vera gel.

I do the little rosy cheek thingie sad . But I like the ruddy color. At least, for me, it gives the pictures I color more dimension and depth, since it kinda rounds things off. Plus, I'm one of those sorta-kinda older artists that grew up around a lot of Norman Rockwell, and I still adore him. He's the one that actually started the trend razz .

washed out anime that EVERYONE does and the fat balloon art yuck

"The Gods made heavy metal and they saw that it was good, they said to play it louder than hell and we promised that we would!"

I will draw Ava's for Gaia gold ^_^

I don't mind when people draw girls with bigger boobs, but I hate it when it's done unrealistically. Bigger boobs = bigger hips. And dammit, don't call her fat. D:

I think somebody said it before, but when somebody jacks an anime picture, crops off the artists name, and in icky MS Paint text puts "OMFG this is my anime rp character, she's a neko angel demon ninja pirate!!!"
