Has one of the things very common in your art been listed? (Not that it's important for you to care...)

Since you posted a topic about politeness, which I agree with you unless the artist volunteered and were leading in the 'Look! I can't draw' giggle fest, perhaps that'd be a better route in other convos.

But on your topic, I agree.

If someone asks for a critique and they want an honest one, they do need to have somewhat of a thick skin because not everyone's idea of 'nice' is the same. I've had people get pissed at me because I said something as generic as 'the feel of the image is nice, but the bend of the arm is off and it brings the level of the picture down'.

What I'm thinking of is more of the...vicious, really unnecessary shredding of another artist of their work, for no reason. We had a thread in here earlier today that stated 'THIS ARTWORK IS s**t' and then posted a bunch of images from young artists. That's just so incredibly rude, I have no words for it. And it's pathetic, I can't imagine who would get pleasure from shredding someone else in a really nasty way, for no reason. Critiquing is totally different from just plain, outright cruelty.

Okay, that's not kosher.

I got flamed purely for the title of a thread and people ignored this, but I posted that there's a difference between help and hinder when it comes to crit.

How about the trend of 'Imma ina drawin class! Now my stuff is automatikly AWESOME!!!!3!'
Pictures done in Poser...
Fruits baskets! I LOVE IT TO DEATH BUT THEY CANNOT DRAAW!!
Desho Desho
Megatokyo. Terribly drawn, IMO. Fred doesn't even ink his drawings before he puts them up.

And people eat it up like the elixer of the gods. O_o;

Are you serious? No ink? I've seen it in the bookstores.

Not that great....
xD I dunno..I just don't like the colour choices sometimes.
What I really hate in art is when people draw horrible pictures and think 'Oh, I'll make it better by putting a poem done by a hard working starving writer in the mix. They won't mind." Well Ladies and gentes, I AM A WRITER AND I AM ROYALLY PISSED!!!!!! ITS MY WORK!!! ASK!!!!
yaoi and yuri are just eww to me

Personally I'm annoyed with the whole anime trend simply because it seems to be a lot of the same material, same style, etc.. etc.. being drawn over and over again. There's no variety and while I do happen to like anime, but I'm personally annoyed with is the whole let's make everything into an anime. It's being done with american animation and it annoys the heck out of me. If it's good anime inspired work such as avatar I don't mind, but don't even get me started on teen titans.

The whole net must draw everything anime also annoys me as well because I've known so many people who refuse to consider that anime itself is not the here all, be all of all work and that it in and of itself has a lot of flaws.
Plus, learning new styles is good any day of the week anyway.

As for the other, fanart. I like fanart if the person does their own twist on it, but what really annoys me is when people take an image from a manga or an anime, still it and then copy it. It's good for getting anatomy and style down initially and I don't mind it necessarily if an artist is just starting it. What I'm personally annoyed with is when skilled artists decide to do that and call it art when what they're doing has nothing to do with taking that character and providing their own version of it so much as plagiarizing that character and then calling it fanart.

And lastly, the last thing I'm annoyed with..
one thing current American animation. The flat style that is being pandered around in shows such as American Jake Long, and Foster whatever.. it's called annoy me as well. They're flat and there's no depth to the characters at all. It's not drawing to me and honestly to me it often looks like a 5 year old could draw them, i.e. ed, edd and eddy anyone.
The animation for that show was horrible and I refuse to watch a show with bad animation in it.
first off i usually dont reply to anything on this shithole of a site..but this topic seems interesting enough.

to avoid saying what has been said thousands of times (i read 46 pages and got the gist of what everyone is saying) i will say the following.
1) i dont like when the artist takes a s**t load of time developing their art skill only to make a crappy mary sue cookie cutter bullshit plot. (yeah its more of a literary thing,so sue me.) nothing saves bad writing. even if you are whipping out the jesus of all pictures,if your story sucks (that means has gay vampires in it) its over, you have to die.

2) all the ******** vampire/half demon/fairy/elf/etc,shitty magical creature thing. its stupid. its not even original anymore. its been done to death. especially ******** vampires...-__-

3) yaoi fan girls/boys...i dont care if you like two guys doing the do, just dont show us your crappily drawn girly boys...we dont want to ******** see them. also i hate it when they just go and put two boys together because they are pretty and not because they really could have a relationship.

4) all those retarded clamp pictures, and shojo. hell no. i dont want to read/see a crappy series where the story is simply a magical quest in which characters fall in love and bond over their shitty angst after getting over tragic pasts. its not even cool its just dumb

5) the whole ******** cigarette in mouth badass trench coat character with a angst filled past and street smarts. hell no. especially not with another goddamn trenchcoat. unless you happen to be in the matrix its just ******** retarded. its not wickedly cool. its not hardcore. its just not.

6) magical girls series. just no. they all ******** suck. yes, even salior moon. they are poorly written and just crappy.

7) the elitist bastards that somehow think hating popular music /anime /whatever/clothes makes you cool. no one gives a s**t if you hate naruto...go post that s**t in your journal. because obviously theses shows are doing something right if they are so popular.

cool the whole entire anime>american stuff arguement. theres american comics that can kick the asses of japanese stuff. anyone who bases whether or not they like work becuase the author is not japanese (a country that can lick my balls for all i care, its NOT teh greatest country in the world any more than america is)is a stupid s**t,whose opinion doesnt matter

9) anyone who can kick your a** in Photoshop but sucks balls at MSPaint. let me explain. im not denying that Photoshop isnt tits (but at 600 dollars it can kiss my a** and die) but it takes alot more skill to go and make stuff that is ******** awesome on a program that just gives you the most basic s**t for creating art. you gotta master the basics first. plus they practically do half the s**t for you in Photoshop. they have a goddamn grass filter...DRAW THAT s**t YOURSELF... im alot more impressed by a moderately attractive MSpaint then a Photoshop ********.
for someone to make all that effort to fake as if they really have those effects(again im not saying Photoshop doesnt take effort,it just take as much effort as MSpaint does.) gets alot of respect from me,someone who is and respects the artists that cant afford that s**t.

all that being said, this thread inspired me to draw a picture making fun of as many anime cliches as i can. i shall post it when im done in the picture post section..

ribbions of sadness

its just so deep and emotional right.. rolleyes
Don't know if anyone mentioned this... But that whole "Disney" style that people use when drawing animals is getting seriously old. It's not even like anyone's drawing anything ASIDE from oversized kitties and doggies. I don't have anything against Disney, really (sure, they're sucking a** right now, but they weren't ALWAYS like that D: ) but ARGH. SO. MANY. ********. DISNEY. ANIMALS. It was nice a while ago, but now it's just overdone and extremely old, not to mention extremely...cookie-cutterish. It's like there's a default pattern you follow to make a character that looks like Balto, but not really *nudgenudgewink*.

It's worse that the only thing those crap-artists will draw are dogs and cats. Despite how much I dislike the Disney style when it comes to animals, I wouldn't mind seeing, say, a ******** Pangolin in the Disney style. So my hatred of the Disney style stems from two things- the fact that these Disney-artists don't drawn anything that isn't fuzzy and walks on four legs, and that EVERYONE'S doing it.

I hate that show with a bloody passion, but unfortunatley my little brother loves it.

I really don't like artists who are full of themselves. I think that as one artist swimming in a sea of many better than i, It is my duty to humble myself once and awhile. But i just hate people who's art isn't that good, and just kinda generic, and they FORCE it on people like they should be praised and worshipped. Its's even worse when you meet snobs like that in real life.....
*coughBalto'snotfromDisneycough*
Anyways, I kinda agree with Phish. But some people pull it off really well with snazzy coloring and interesting characters.
Why does piss you off? it's nice to look at sometimes
