Since you posted a topic about politeness, which I agree with you unless the artist volunteered and were leading in the 'Look! I can't draw' giggle fest, perhaps that'd be a better route in other convos.
But on your topic, I agree.
But on your topic, I agree.
If someone asks for a critique and they want an honest one, they do need to have somewhat of a thick skin because not everyone's idea of 'nice' is the same. I've had people get pissed at me because I said something as generic as 'the feel of the image is nice, but the bend of the arm is off and it brings the level of the picture down'.
What I'm thinking of is more of the...vicious, really unnecessary shredding of another artist of their work, for no reason. We had a thread in here earlier today that stated 'THIS ARTWORK IS s**t' and then posted a bunch of images from young artists. That's just so incredibly rude, I have no words for it. And it's pathetic, I can't imagine who would get pleasure from shredding someone else in a really nasty way, for no reason. Critiquing is totally different from just plain, outright cruelty.
Okay, that's not kosher.
I got flamed purely for the title of a thread and people ignored this, but I posted that there's a difference between help and hinder when it comes to crit.
How about the trend of 'Imma ina drawin class! Now my stuff is automatikly AWESOME!!!!3!'
