I don't like it when anime people's eyes are in front of the hair on their face.
Those shiny anime images that a lot of Gaians put in their sig (stole from an artist and then put in their sig) saying "THIS IS MY RP CHARACTER!" Their usually cat girls or sumthing. I like anime, but that 'anime style' just bugs me... i think it's the eyes... wayyy to big and remind me of aliens! DX
KH Porn/Yaoi whatever.

Sometimes Sora/Riku pictures are cute. I don't mind that.

I do NOT want to see fellatio, or sex between minors. I do not support shotacon or lolicon. No way.

I don't care if you "Sort of censor" it. ******** that. It's gross. Do people realize what they're seeing? These are KIDS.
I've heard of instances of this happening but I've never seen the true horrors of My-Mouth-Melts-Into-My-Chin Syndrome. I was Christmas shopping, and I went to the manga section at a bookstore, and I saw this manga 'Model', and I just never heard of it so I looked - AND LO AND BEHOLD. Ugh! Google it yourself. The horror.

And I'll have to second Bare Naked (Blolol, Ironic), I don't like KH porn. I don't like guro, I don't like shota, I don't like loli, I don't like chan.

Anime doesn't bother me too much because it's a way to draw, and so it doesn't intend to offend me. Hell, I like a lot of it. But the whole LOL IM AN ANIME ARTEEST does bug the hell out of me, like chapped lips. Now, you can draw anime, and be an artist, of course. BUT. Ever noticed how people who draw anime tend to draw the SAME FACE OVER AND OVER AGAIN no matter what character? I hate that. INUYASHA. INUYASHA BOTHERS THE s**t OUT OF ME BECAUSE EVERY CHARACTER IS THE /SAME/ FACE. Unless of course you're a little kid or an old man/lady. And even then every little kid looks like every oter little kid, and every old man looks like every other old man. The only difference? Attire and hairstyle. And the women look like men, and the men look like women, BECAUSE THEY AHVE THE SAME FACE.

Of course, I'm guilty of drawing up facial structures that are similar or just plain a** the same as one another.

But that doesn't mean it doesn't bug the hell outta me.

Is it just me, or has anyone noticed that a lot of people are commenting on the personality of the artist rather then the style?
Not liking someone's art because THEY are cocky, well, doesn't make sense, in my opinion....

Just as personality can make a person more attractive or ugly(since you're more likely to notice flaws if you dislike them, and you're more likely to notice good things if you like them), the same can be said of their art. It's not objective, but art rarely is.
Wanna be gothic or emo art. It's one thing to be depressed, but when you start doing it for attention and then threaten to kill yourself if someone doesn't like it, then yeah, not really that great to me. In fact I find it annoying... you have no idea what real depression is you spoiled preteen pansies, so shut the hell up and draw something worth looking at! Not going to a concert because it's on a school night is NOT worth killing yourself over... Jebus...

(Note for the above, it's people I personally know... I try not to make assumptions over the net because I do not know them)

Yiff haters that don't realize that not all Furry art is Yiff. Getting chewed out and called a pervert because I draw anthro porn (when I don't) doesn't settle well with me, and the entire Anti-Yiff movement is getting on my nerves. If someone WANTS to draw that crap, let them... just don't look at it. And don't hassle the artists that draw anthro but don't draw that stuff... seriously...

Public Awareness/Outcry/Cry for Attention pieces. Yes, political pieces have always been a part of art, and I accept it. But it still bothers me that someone takes pictures from Google, throws them together (very crappily, by the way), then BS some deep, inner meaning that can be a statement against the government, religion, anti-religion (which is really popular now a days), or whatever. To me, it's like Green Day's sudden rise to fame just because they wrote a song dissing Bush. Do they have a massive fanbase because people truly LOVE their music and message, or just because they hate Bush and support anyone who speaks out against him? DA had an issue with that with Jark; after awhile it was hard to distinguish who actually cared about his departure or those who just wanted to get instant attention.

I don't care for these, but I just sorta lurk away from them and just don't bother with them.

People like what they like and will always do whatever they want to do, and I can't stop them. But that doesn't mean I have to LIKE it...

Thirded! That was going to be one of my original complaints but I decided to keep it to myself. mrgreen

I also hate it when people shade with pure black and when they add a ridiculous amount of blush to a character's face...and then put abrasive highlights on top of the ******** blush. mad It was big for like a second, but I haven't seen it in a while, thank god.
Guh.

I HATE that one style, where the elbows, shoulders, knees, nose, and cheeks.. have that crazy pinky red color.. and then white dots piled on top. It's not cute, it's not fleshy colored.

It's sunburned.
With a bad need of aloe vera gel.

I also don't like the folks who think it's fun to tear into a person's art all because it's not too skillfully done when the beginner artist genuinely wants help. There's so much elitism going on it's not funny. =( I mean, it might be okay, if that young artist thinks they're absolutely perfect and needs no help at all.

Like a LOT of the popular artists on dA. Seriously, be open to some critique, I don't care if you have 1 million+ pageviews, if you have serious flaws in your anatomy that cannot be excused for style, shut up and listen. Don't send a wolf pack after someone being nicely honest about your work. Dx Seriously, it's like.. persecution.. to a lower level. By saying the critiquer is "jealous" or can't draw, so they can't critique.
Well, you can tell if soup tastes bad even though you can't cook.

And that trend where.. it's my "style" not an obvious flaw in my art. I can draw an elbow bending completely the wrong-way and it's still wrong, that's not style, it's just an excuse for not being able to draw something right.

I gotta agree with the inflation art thing though. Scary as hell. Nice if you prefer it.. but ugh, I still don't like it. Dx

I don't like Moe-type girls in general either. Dx (like the girls on boyis.com). And those "RP" type characters too, they're moe.
And I'll bet they all come from those hentai sites too. Dx

The feminine boys thing. I'll like some. If the personality matches. Like.. most of those pairings with the uke? If it doesn't match, I won't like the whole.. so feminine thing. Most of the time, it doesn't match. Example? SasuNaru (not harping on any fans) because... WHY IS NARUTO made to be the girly sobby type? He is a rough and tumble--crazy kid!!! The girliness does NOT his personality fit. Seriously, I like more manly men too. I would prefer yaoi to have manly men too... but sadly, most fangirls prefer the girly types of yaoi pairings. So thus, a trend I don't like either. Dx

And incest pairings? THE HORROR.
Uchiha bros? 'nuff said.
That and I don't like shotacon or lolicon either. Dx

I hate style whores too. Those that are a blatant wannabe copy of.. Loish, Bara-chan, MincedNiku, Hyung Tae Kim, Precious Flame. Dx It's okay to take some things you like and some influences.. but not the whole damn style kay?

And what I hate most?
When people say it's easy to draw anime.
Sure it's easy to draw anime.
But can you draw it well?
Norare
Badly drawn catgirls with IMPOSSIBLY large boobs >w>;;; *not so much talking about comics as I am talking about some people online*

I know! People draw boobs like they have basketballs glued to their chest! ><
Just to add a few more pet peeves things to my list...

3. badly done photo manipulations done in MS Paint from a web cam photo

2. vector tracing or photo manipulation over photos or illustrations from existing anime/manga/games

1. [probably one of my biggest turn offs:]
amateurs who colour pages from existing manga

I really don't care how good they are, they shouldn't be doing it in the first place if there's so much freebie lineart on freaking DA. They deserve to be shot, gutted, quartered, put into a pig trough and shat out. "Practice" doesn't even excuse an act of such butchery.

Some of them do a hella good job on coloring existing manga pages, but it is pretty annoying if they're so good at it. They should try drawing their own stuff.

C'est tres annoying. I was about to compliment some chick on her artwork, only to find that it was a page from a comic called "BLEACH."

Why don't you practice coloring your own darn pictures? sheesh.... I just feel so led on when they pull that crap...
I could not stand the collage boom of a few years ago (probably around 2000). Collage is more arts and crafts and whenever I see it grouped with real creative work it drives me up a wall.

There is a place for collage -- it really does help with creative blocks and such, and it effective for people who like it. Unfortunately I think it dumbs down the art world when people borrow too much from photos and other peoples' work.

Seconded.

Also, in the vein of the "sunburned" comment a little above - blue backlighting when there is absolutely no reason for it. A lot of american comics are guilty of that, too. Gah! My eyes! Don't put lightsources where there are none!
