Has one of the things very common in your art been listed? (Not that it's important for you to care...)

Well, one thing that bothers me... I know they must be trends, and I don't know if this qualifies as one, but someone posted it already so I'll just say it anyways.

When people use all of the filters and tools on photoshop.... To me that's more of a "I know photoshop more than you" kind of thing and they're just showing off their 1337 photoshop skills. I'd rather see a background or effect done by the artist himself, without any help.

I've been trying that a lot myself, getting it down, but I have a lot left I really need to work on.

I love working with photoshop myself, but I try not to abuse it. Photoshop is for cleaning up pictures and sometimes coloring/shading ect for me, and that alone makes a big difference.

Yep, that's true. I'm not bothered by the program itself or the people using them.. Just when they use the filters and stamps and such. I should've worded myself better, sorry. ^^'

Like, when I see a cool effect and I'm like "Whoa, how'd you do that?" and they go "Yawn, it took me like 10 seconds with this filter." It's like "Oh... Ok." Just bothers me for some reason.

Filters are fun. mrgreen I just don't use them because I feel like it takes away the originality of my work. I see what you mean.

And another thing, even though it's come up so much here I just have to say how much it bothers me: annerexic anime girls. I look a lot like my father, who is naturally very thin, to no fault of my own. My gym teachers take my BMI every year and ask me to be tested for annerexia myself. (I swear I didn't do it! sad ) I would say in many anime styles I would be a plus size for sure.XD How thin is too thin? Be realistic people, if someone who is naturally a size 0 looks fat compared to your artwork, do you take pride in that? And because I am naturally as thin as some of your "average size" characters, I'm almost flat chested. You won't find many young girls with tiny little waists and those enormous soccer balls wedged up their shirts.

Dude, I am exactly the same. O_O I'm really thin and people asked me if I was anorexic before. But I'm a size 1!! And the whole boobs thing? Yeah, I'm tiny too. I don't know many thin girls bigger than a B cup honestly, but anime artists like to draw them with D's and DD's for some reason. neutral

So if the characters are thin, than can be realistic, but not the hips or boobs thing. And if the waist is thinner than the head? No thanks. I have no shape at all. So a thin anime girl having shape and BIG hips kind of bothers me. Dx

And the filters thing. If used minimally, some of the effects achieved can add to the art. I don't see anything wrong with using filters, it doesn't detract if used right. It's the same as using dodge and burn, it's not bad if used here and there, but not to make the whole damn picture. I don't feel that it takes away from the originality of the work if an artist does use them, it's just another tool and effect available to the artist.
Elitist remarks piss me off too.

Like when people say.. "Don't use lined paper, it's unprofessional." First off, why is it a person's business what a person uses? Second, it's just practice, lay-off. stare Not that I use lined-paper, but it's remarks like this that really anger me, like the artist thinks they are so good/skillful that whatever they use has to be what everyone else uses, that there is no other method or way to do things. That only their way is best.
I don't like the "OMG,look how emo I am" kinda art.

You know the ones where it's of someone being all rebelious'n crap.

ugh.

Yeah. I've been trying to avoid the annerexic look in my people recently. But I think he was referring to filters like "colored pencil" and crap that makes it look like you did the whole thing perfectly with nothing but a few colors. whee

Oh, okay. That makes sense then. xD I don't like using the "artistic" filters like that, that's like the palette knife or watercolor effect. xD But something like texture/patchwork/tile, I think those are okay as long as it's not the brunt of your work. xD

I tend to find that I draw girls with my similar body type. xD And people still complain they're light-weight, but I try not to make them that way. Dx

Same. But when I go to draw freestyle I tend to draw people nude, or lightly clothed. It's not for appeal, I just like drawing that way. sweatdrop So I can't really post some of my better efforts.
two words:

CAT EARS

they seem to be on almost every freakin' anime person anyone draws twisted
There's a trend now on dA of a few random people drawing incredibly obese anime fanart. Like, not even obese anymore, if it was a real person their fat would have crushed all their bones. I wouldn't be surprised if they weighed 40,000 pounds kind of stuff.
I mean I have nothing against those who are overweight (a common misconception since I'm a twig) but... who would draw that and only that? I drew a really fat guy one time for humour, but really... an entire gallery of fat anime girls? And none of them original characters?

That's another tiny little irk of mine. When someone makes a whole cast of OC's and instead of working on the project with them claim it's on hiatus while pumping out 3-4 drawings of the OCs daily. I mean, sure, it's great to practice whenever you can... but to post every drawing of them? And forget the big work in progress? (although I'm guilty of forgetting the entire storyline of something I was going to work on XD; I forgot all the characters too!)

It's good anatomy practice. Nothing to be ashamed of. What I hate is that some beginner artists will label that as porn. =_=; Life drawing classes are all about drawing n***s, so I don't see the problem with that. XD

Lol.XD Yes, I hate it when people see classical art and point at the torso with giggles. Artists have always painted and sculpted the human body because it is beautiful. You don't have to hide it from children because there's nothing wrong with it! stressed

EDIT: And I always thought DBZ was sarcastic. About itself. Honestly. It's just too ridiculous to contemplate otherwise.
xD Akira Toriyama did NOT want to do HALF of the DBZ series. That's why it's very funny that you brought this up.

He made it so ridiculous because he didn't want to do it, but the studio pushed for it.
Almost everything involving photography really bothers me. It's not even really art. If you can get a good angle or perspective of something,it's not exactly you,'having mad skills'.In most cases, you just got lucky.

People who constantly post pictures of themselves annoy the freaking crap out of me.First of all, it just takes one good comment before you're cocky and corrupted, and your whole gallery is stuffed to the brim with pictures of yourself.Second,if all you have in your art gallery is pictures of yourself,it means that you didn't even take the fricking picture. So even if it did count as art,it'd basically be stealing a picture of yourself. And that's pretty shallow.

Nude art.I don't care what you say;naked people are not,and never will be,art. They're just...naked people.
