Filters are fun.
mrgreen I just don't use them because I feel like it takes away the originality of my work. I see what you mean.
And another thing, even though it's come up so much here I just have to say how much it bothers me: annerexic anime girls. I look a lot like my father, who is naturally very thin, to no fault of my own. My gym teachers take my BMI every year and ask me to be tested for annerexia myself. (I swear I didn't do it!
sad ) I would say in many anime styles I would be a plus size for sure.XD How thin is too thin? Be realistic people, if someone who is naturally a size 0 looks fat compared to your artwork, do you take pride in that? And because I am naturally as thin as some of your "average size" characters, I'm almost flat chested. You won't find many young girls with tiny little waists and those enormous soccer balls wedged up their shirts.
Dude, I am exactly the same. O_O I'm really thin and people asked me if I was anorexic before. But I'm a size 1!! And the whole boobs thing? Yeah, I'm tiny too. I don't know many thin girls bigger than a B cup honestly, but anime artists like to draw them with D's and DD's for some reason.
neutral
So if the characters are thin, than can be realistic, but not the hips or boobs thing. And if the waist is thinner than the head? No thanks. I have no shape at all. So a thin anime girl having shape and BIG hips kind of bothers me. Dx
And the filters thing. If used minimally, some of the effects achieved can add to the art. I don't see anything wrong with using filters, it doesn't detract if used right. It's the same as using dodge and burn, it's not bad if used here and there, but not to make the whole damn picture. I don't feel that it takes away from the originality of the work if an artist does use them, it's just another tool and effect available to the artist.
