Hello! Welcome to my art contest, I'm Orbit and I'll be hosting this event. I'm looking for you to draw my strange little bunch of OCs. I've recently been revamping them after a few years away from them so I'm especially excited to see your take on them.

If you want to know a little bit about me I'm a 22 year old living with my fiance and working 40 hours a week to make rent. I'm hoping to go back to college eventually to get my history degree and be a history teacher. =]

This piece by angeloluha is my Grand Prize.

Art wise the style is lovely, lanky and expressive. It's one of those pieces that I keep finding myself looking back at and finding those nice little details like Caterina's earrings and the bags under Kue's eyes. It wasn't just the art that caught me though, the representation of the characters' personalities is also expressed in those tiny details. These are two that have interacted in my story but I didn't include those details in their description because the connection isn't entirely that important yet they're drawn like I wrote out a big chunk of interaction for them and the artist drew it out. Just, wonderful.

The first Honorable Mention is pamiichigo's drawing of Caterina. This one stole my heart... sugary sweet and warm with pastel colors I love how this plays out like a child-hood memory or a flashback of a little Caterina and her first 'fuzzy prince'.

The second is this thoughtful Mee-Yon by dark pillow. The little details in this one are beautiful; the softness of her hair, the layering of the textures and the distant and sad expression all pull me in and keep me.

And last but not least for the mentions is Milk Tea Panda's drawing of Ninia and Jo I love these two so much and I feel like they were captured very well here. What gets me, and what is so perfect about this, is Jo's uncomfortable and stiff posture but she still stays in Ninia's lap..

THE GUYS

← Zen

Name: Zen

Abilities: Human and Dragon forms, flight in dragon form, slight premonition and the ability to create and manipulate fog and clouds.
Info: Born sometime in the Shang dynasty of Ancient China he lived mostly in the forested regions of modern Guangxi as a dragon hatchling, before he could take on the human-like form that is gained in adult-hood. In roughly a thousand years he was fully grown and began to venture out. His travels took him to the far reaches of the west, to the mountains of the Himalayas where he met the mountain dragon Mee-Yon. They took to protecting the people of the region from the escalating wars of the central empire. The two fell into companionship and then timidly into a sweet and gentle love.
They were wed during a village festival that treated the joining of the lucky dragon protectors as a sign of supreme luck. Mee-Yon soon had a small hatchling and they were content. It wasn't too long before the traveling warriors from the tribes of the west arrived, laying waste to the villages. They fought but the warriors were consumed with the idea of vanquishing the dragons and they were able to kill both Mee-Yon and their young hatchling.
Crushed and heartbroken, Zen, in human form, made a long journey on foot that lasted many years helping anyone in need that he crossed on his travels. He now works with other creatures of the mythos to gather information on the clan who he's starting to learn may have been responsible for the death of his family.
Zen is a kind and chivalrous with a large heart very much built on old lessons of manners. He has a gentle smile and uses it often, not really capable of getting angry he instead tends to turn a kind word to those who would try to harm him. He has never spoken of his deceased wife and child so those who know him believe he has never been in a relationship.
Fashion: Likes simple things, long robe-like shirts and polo shirts. He usually wears khaki pants.
Family/Relationships: Deceased wife Mee-Yon and child who he thinks of often, a close friendship with Ninia and Ashton. He's often confused by Felix but he enjoys his company.

Felix →

Name: Felix

Abilities: Extra-sensitive senses and enhanced speed. Also somehow stays alive despite being essentially a vegetarian werewolf.
Info: Felix hates the word were-wolf, it ties too strongly to a certain genre of teen-romance novels that he can't stand so he started using the latin word for a wolf-shape-shifter to stop the jokes, they didn't really stop. Often in the back of a group he tends to make smartass but true comments about whatever is going on and mostly get ignored for it. He's got a bit of an attitude but has a good amount of smarts to back it up. He's often the one sitting back and planning how next to attempt to trap the clan.
Fashion: He likes dressing like a teenager, silly shirts, comfortable jeans and sneaker.
Family/Relationships: Has an embarrassing crush on Zen and attempts in vain to tolerate Caterina's immature clinging to him.

Name: Ashton Bo Lafayette

Abilities: Plays a mean guitar, also serves as a bit of muscle when the group needs it.
Info: Growing up with Ninia and eventually getting brought in by her parents to be a body-guard of sort for her Ashton is on of the few privileged to be aware of the presence of not only aliens but other mythical creatures in the modern world. Ashton is generally a very laid back person with a temper that only gets set off when he feels particularly strongly about something. He likes fruit, back-country meat and hunting and is also fond of just sitting around and kicking back (hopefully on a porch). He has fantastic manners, especially with ladies. He tends to use “Sir” and “Ma’am” in most situations, and he's also in the habit of using the high compliment of "Peach" to anyone he thinks worthy. He has a burn scar on his right shoulder from getting caught in a house fire when he was younger that he's a bit self conscious of.
Fashion: On stage he wears khakis, an ivory shirt, red vest and skinny tie but when he's just living his life he tends to stick to worn-out jeans and a washed out hoodie.
Family/Relationships: Has a brotherly relationship with Ninia and tries to act as the older brother to the rest of their group as wall.

Kue →

Name: Kue
Gender: Male

Species: Extraterrestrial, The Clan

Eyes: Slate blue
Skin Type: Sickly beige
Abilities: Can shift into a sort of misty smog and hover or float. He can also use this smog he creates to temporarily or permanently, depending on their strength of mind, fall victim to his whim.
Info: While he has little interest it making the Earth his, he realizes that being the ninth in age order of his siblings makes winning unlikely, he does have ulterior motives. His plan is to use Jo's conflicted feelings for him to get to her people and possibly get himself a ride off this planet before his arrogant siblings destroy everything. Kue always puts himself and his needs first. He could be compared to the mythos of the snake, a conniving trickster that tempts you with all you could ever want just to spin the board and get what he sees coming to him, leaving you alone and with nothing. He's a bit of a creep.
Fashion: He seems to think he is a hard-metal star with skull-shirts and tight leather pants and skinny jeans.
Family/Relationships: Manipulating Jo's conflicted feelings for him and driving Hevita crazy by getting in her way just for the sake of passing the day.

Hair: Black with gray bangs, she also has very short round eyebrows.

Skin Type: Pale with shades of gray under the outer layer
Abilities: Can shift forms between a sludge like humanoid shape and a human form. Can also self-repair organs. This makes it very hard to kill her species as the wounds must be massive and continually monitored by the attacker so her kind can't heal.
Info: Hevita was born with her 11 siblings as an abandoned hatchling when her species was forced to leave Earth early due to en emergency. Born into the early years of the Mayan empire her clan believed the Earth was left to them as a present, but rightfully only one could have it. They've been locked in a battle for over 2000 years to attempt to kill each-other and enslave humanity to make Earth their own personal castle. Hevita is the second oldest and one of the most underhanded. She's paraded across the Earth under the guise of a succubus, a vampire, a witch, causing all sorts of historical screw-ups for humanity. She enjoys 'passionate' activities, flirting, playing with emotions and wine.
Fashion: Likes sultry and revealing dresses in reds, blacks, and grays. Never wears pants.
Family/Relationships: Eldest sister to Kue and Oria, enjoys taunting the others, especially Jo.

Caterina →

Name: Caterina

Eyes: Wears purple contacts, normally her eyes would be brown
Skin Type: Fair, slight facial freckles covered by make-up
Abilities: Master use of credit cards.
Info: Born to a pair of wealthy stock trading world travelers Caterina was spoiled heavily as a child by parents who bought her affection. Caterina grew up believing she was indeed the princess she was addressed as. She was kept at home and home schooled after multiple incidents at a well-to-do private school where she got into fist fights with anyone who tried to tell her she wasn't a princess. Growing into a teenager those childish stories about finding the charming prince became a real obsession and she began to use her access to her elderly grandfather's credit cards to travel all over to find one. She's like a chili-pepper barely concealed in a thin layer of too-sweet icing. She makes a conscious effort to be sweet, kind, and graceful but when something does not go according to plan she melts down into a grumpy, temper-tantrum of a spoiled brat. Now this isn't to say that she isn't capable of making friends, they just have to be willing to play along with her princess fantasy. She's actually a very good confidant and is able to give grounded advice.
Fashion: She has a rather strict wardrobe wearing only pink, childish princess dresses or classic, hime, or sweet style lolita clothing.
Family/Relationships: Says she is in love with her prince, Felix. Not all that fond of the other boys but has a good friendship with Ninia. Often the subject of teasing/leering from Hevita.

Skin Type: Lightly colored with scratches and scares from a rugged lifestyle
Abilities: Extreme resistance to cold, snow and moisture, adapted claws for climbing slopes and a good sense of balance
Info: Not much is known about her history beyond what can be read from in Zen's information. She passed away sometime in the late-age of Ancient China. She was rarely one to speak although well spoken and thoughtful when she did, she was more inclined to poetic verse or singing as opposed to plain words. She was demure and careful in her movements, incredibly gentle in her touch. Her expression was hard to read except when she would look at Zen with a sure smile.
Fashion: Extravagant robes from ancient China, Korea and Japan, all gifts from Zen or the villagers she protected.
Family/Relationships: Married to Zen, also had a small hatchling that was killed by her side. She did have a small run in with Hevita and Kue during one of their fights on her mountain side where she chased them off.

Info: Younger sister to Hevita, Oria is like the shiny side of an otherwise ugly coin. She's demure and tends to stay in the shadows as much as possible in an attempt to avoid her siblings. She's worked odd little jobs such as a housekeeper, nanny or waitress, for all the years she's been alive just trying to stay out of the spot-light.
Fashion: She tends to wear fashion more prevalent during the 1860's or a diner waitress uniform when she's at work.
Family/Relationships: Younger sibling to Hevita and Kue.

Name: Ninia

Abilities: Uses a career as a touring country-rock star to infiltrate information about the extraterrestrial clan and their attempts to over-come humanity.
Info: Raised from a young age by her government agent parents to use her charm and sweet demeanor to get information she was introduced as an undercover agent the day she signed her first record deal. Now she tours the country gathering the top secret information from other agents to report to headquarters. She's a sweet, motherly figure with a big heart and a knack for keeping others in check with their conscious. She can be pretty intimidating despite her smaller stature.
Fashion: Old west saloon style meets the needs to show-off on stage is her usual style but she's just as comfortable in jeans and a loose t-shirt.
Family/Relationships: Often times running into Jo as their missions and contrary paths cross, Jo and Ninia have developed a strained regard for each-other that over the time that they know one other develops into a thin-lined friendship and then something stronger. Ninia also has a very close bond to Ashton, her guitar player and child-hood friend that she feels is the only one she can share secrets with. Kue has also taken to stalking her.

Name: Jo

Age: Unknown / appears 24
Species: Extraterrestrial, often called a Time Jumper

Skin Type: Glowy pale
Abilities: Can jump around in time, also has a gift for cat-burglar style information gathering. Her job is to play a spy for her home planet and stay neutral between the clan and humans, making sure to deliver all current information about the movement of both sides to her people so they can decide if the clan is really a threat or just some invasive pests to the Earth.
Info: She's very tight-lipped about herself so not much is known except she's been on Earth a very long time, long enough to have a pretty thorough history with the clan. She's a cold-shouldered character with not much to lose, very easily putting herself in danger for the cause she works for. She is on a strict no-action mission so violence beyond self-defense could have her executed for treason on her home-world. The only weapon she'll use is a staff. She does find both humans and the clan to be equally worthless.
Fashion: Aside from the reference image the only thing she'll wear is a purple hoodie and black skirt over it if she needs to be, slightly, less noticeable.
Family/Relationships: Her run-ins over the recent years with Ninia have confused her mission as she's come to actually have a respect and care for her. She tries to avoid her now, especially since Ninia tends to be overly touchy with human hugging. Jo also has had close run-ins with Kue and Hevita. Kue uses this against her, often trying to trip her up so he can crush her.

THE WORLD

To understand this world you must know, mythical creatures and monsters beyond your imagination do exist, aliens are here and they want the planet, and there are rebels trying to protect you.

At the dawn of humanity an advanced alien species landed intent on gifting their knowledge to allow the primal man to develop society. Spreading wide they set the roots in Mayan, Egyptian, Greek, Nordic, Atlantian and Chinese society. There main hope lay within Atlantis, there they gifted libraries of information. They posed as gods, traveling in chariots of fire. Unfortunately their hope for Earth was dashed when desperate word came that the home planet they hailed from was in desperate danger. Fearful the alien gods frantically and recklessly began to leave the planet until no traces but myth were left... or so they thought.

Left behind in a dim cenote just to the west of the Mayan Capital was a long since abandoned hatch of experimental dead eggs. Left behind to rot, assumed not to be able to survive in the Earth's soil. Slowly, though, the twelve eggs began to hatch. The strange environment had delayed and malformed them but they were still alive.

From these were birthed The Clan a group of strange extraterrestrials siblings with only the knowledge provided in myth as to why they were left here. They are shape-shifters able to take on human forms and shift and exaggerate those forms. The eldest, a male, proclaimed himself head of the family and unaware of his parent's pure intentions for the Earth, the sole right owner to this planet, a self-proclaimed birth-gift to him from the parents. Feuding began immediately and they soon discovered that they could shift there forms not only to vainly make their noses smaller but they could also reform and repair organs internally. Unable to kill each-other for the moment, they spread out, working to devise a plan to either stay out of the way, or claim the planet for their own.

Now they have been at this for centuries, spread out across the globe. A group of underground informants are working to gather the myths together to figure out why these aliens are here and what humanity can do to save themselves...
