Well Zak was really unstable for a long time after his lover died, then his sister, then he was betrayed by someone he was really close to(who wasn't going to appear in the first Avalon, but WILL in this version). XD So yes, it's not the most healthy way to get to know someone but Jaques is different enough from Moriel in personality that Zak has a hard time associating the two after a while.

Manga semi-realism is a nice style. I keep attempting it but failing miserably.

What Zak needs...

Jacques looks awesome with the long hair, by the way. biggrin It really brings out the family resemblence between him and Charon, or at least Charon as shown in the old Avalon.


I think the style is about contrast, since it still has the more simplified shapes of actual manga rather than all the more subtle colour shifts and gradients of proper realism, but that has to be clearly shown without lines. So it needs lots of difference between the lights and the darks to shape things properly. I believe that Wotwot has some nice stuff on dA and a few tutorials, though I like Heise or Luciole Loong's styles better for examples myself. But as everyone's heard of those two, no point in recommending them...
