Danke...he was just really old, basically. We've had him almost as long as I can remember and I'm 20. He was a few years old when we got him too. He had gradually been getting worse til this past week when day by day we could see him getting worse. Yesterday he couldn't even stand up for more than a couple seconds. There really wasn't even anyway to help him move without hurting him. I keep expecting to see him wander out from somewhere, looking up at me with his tail wagging.

Ah, I know what that's like. We had to put my dog down earlier this year.
We'd had him since I was 11, like 16 years almost but he was old and sick
He was getting worse and couldnt walk and stuff ;-;
