What is all this?
We've got one big group picture in post 2, followed by a series of individual and group art contests. Each post includes one or two separate contests with its own prizes!

How do I enter?
All you need to do to enter ANY of these contests is to post the link to the artwork in this thread and state which contest it is for.

Can I win more than one prize?
Yes! You can win only one place in the group art contest, but the individuals will award their own special prizes how they deem fit! Not to mention the other 14 contests in this thread you could enter and win!

But the group contest isn't worth 25 million, you liar! - the total sum of all prizes for all contests in this thread totals approximately 25 million. The group contest itself has a total of about 15 million in prizes (13 official, and 2 million in individual incentives). And since some are items, over the months these prizes are bound to be worth more!

1. By 11:59pm PST July 5th, 2008, the artist must notify in the thread whatever WIPs (works in progress) he or she is working on. This can either be a statement or showing the art thus far. A statement must include which contest or contests the artist intends to submit a WIP to.
2. By 11:59pm PST July 11, 2008, the finished piece of art must be posted in the thread. If it is not posted, it will be considered unsubmitted.

You must submit a WIP by the 5th in order to deliver final art by the 11th deadline; those who do not submit a WIP and attempt to enter art will be declined out of fairness to other participants.

.The Group Photo.

The group photo must have at least 15 of the 33 members listed below in it, however keep in mind these people will vote for who wins the top prize so it is to your benefit to have most or all in the photo. They can be themed (winter, summer, whatever), everyone standing there posing for a picture, or something epic!

I'm looking for something well proportioned, and highly detailed. A piece of anatomically proportionate, detailed line work will win over a sparkly CG where the face is oblong, the arms too short, and the pose physically impossible. You don't have to change your style to suit me, trust me, I can tell when something is stylistic ^^.

I also like anime style moreso than realism (because most people who do realism suck at it - but if you are great at realism, on the level of p3p574r, then go for it!).

One day Nora bought the sacred leaf. Messing around, she equipped it with her panda hat, and then got an idea. And thus her leaf-eating panda hat was born! Noraboo, Queen of the...Yeti?

Loving, caring, surrounded by adorable, fuzzy yeti? Cold and distant but fiercely protective? It's all up to you! Draw as many yeti as you want, and free to move them about, you don't need to stick to just their positions on the avatar. I'd prefer the scarf not cover her face, but feel free to play around otherwise! I've recently added the two cloaked avatars since the think the cloak would be perfect for a yeti queen, so feel free to incorporate elements from those into the picture as you wish!

Just a girl and her pet yeti, doing what everyone does with their yeti! Picnicing, walks in the park, snuggling on a cold winter day. Maybe the yeti isn't always adorable and fluffy, though. You never know. >.>

One thing people always ask with this avatar is if they have to draw the boquet (as it does tend to get in the way of nora/yeti snuggling action!), and the answer is no, you can leave it out, you can incorporate flowers in some other way, whatever strikes your fancy. And you don't need to keep the same exact colors as the avatar (it's nicer when the sweater matches the kerchief anyway!)

About me: I'm a graduate student going for an MFA in creative writing. I often can be found writing or reading. More recently I've been going out and drinking--fru-fru drinks only. I love raspberrytinis and appletinis, and the maraschino cherries that go in them are awesome. I am apparently quite the comedian when drunk, according to my friends, but I'm also a pretty big smart-a** when sober. I have a seal point Siamese cat who is my little baby.

For all of these: My name, kiironobara, means yellow rose. It is my favorite flower, and I would like for a yellow rose to show up in avi art for this contest (it's not a requirement, just a plus). Also, please keep in mind that I am not super-feminine in personality or appearance. In fact, I'm more androgynous than anything. Note that my avatar has GREEN eyes.

Classic Gaia Ball Kii
The fairy wings are optional.
Classic Gaia Ball Kii dates back to the 2005 Gaia Anniversary when a friend told me that Gaians dress up for the ball. So I put together an ensemble and it became a "Classic Kii" outfit. Since then, the belt has changed to layer under the dress, so this outfit is no longer possible, which sucks.

Kii's First Outfit: Variation
When I first joined Gaia, I had a dream avi all ready to quest for. One problem: being the newb that I was, I had no idea where to find what I wanted even though I had looked. Back in 2004 the only way to navigate the shops was on the map, and I completely missed the Barton Boutique. When I asked where to get the Grecian items, the reaction from Gaians in Q&F (as it was called back then) was to donate the items to me, then tell me. This outfit was built upon the generosity of other Gaians, and is probably the original "Classic Kii" outfit.

This was probably my second Gaia outfit, and has less of a story behind it. Essentially, I was amused by the fact that the second hand position with black gloves makes your avi look like it's flipping the bird, so I made an avatar around that amusing concept. I used to wear this outfit for months at a time. Facial expressions on the bammi are a plus.

Saturnine


Saturnine was dispatched long ago in the early days of Gaia, to frighten and terrify the nascent human race into worshipping dark powers. After infiltrating the human society for a time, however, he had a change of heart, and is now content to live among them like a normal, tax-paying citizen. He is greedy and vain, proud of his demonic nature, though secretly helps orphanages and lost kittens. Shh, don't tell anyone.

Suggestions and Hints:
-Saturnine is very fond of gold, enough to have a number of piercings and tattoos. He might even have a heart made of the stuff, hidden somewhere (probably his basement), though he'd never admit it.
-He has a long-suffering Shadow Minion.
-I'd prefer either deadly-serious or goofy and fun artwork. (funny pieces and dramatic pieces may recieve hidden loot)
-Creative interpretations are a super plus. I'm not a stickler on the complexity of the tattoos or locations of the piercings, but they should be at least partially included.

I'm looking for something fun and whimsical. I like stylized art a lot. I'm not the biggest fan of anime styles, but that doesn't mean your anime work won't win a prize.

This is a character who lives in the virtual world of the Internet, so you can have her flying around hacking the Gibson or whatever, that'd be cool. Bonus points for nifty technology and hacker culture references.

Individual Contest for Wendigo

I'm offering three prizes for my favorite art of myself. This can include group pictures, and if my favorite picture of me is one of the winning group pictures, they will be awarded my prize in addition to the main prize. However, I'm really looking for art of me, individually, personally, with nobody else in it as well.

As an added note, no art of me being "bothered by fishcorn" will win my prize, whether it wins a group prize or not.

I recommend choosing one based on a theme you'd like to draw, rather than choosing an avatar and then redrawing it larger. I usually base my avatars around character ideas of some kind, so draw what it looks like over what items it has equipped - they're just window dressing.

I prefer interesting poses. Try to come up with something creative and put a lot of effort into making it look good. I like well done lines more than poorly done color work.

Action scenes are recommended. The first three avatars from the left are aeronauts; the two on the right are an oni (look it up if you don't know what that is) and a biker. If you can manage to work a zeppelin into any of the above, I will award extra points.

Talon-chan and AerisEsper are engaged to be married in real life and have been dating for well over 4 years now. Both are video-game/internet geeks. Talon majored in Engineering (with a minor in Philosophy) and Aeris in Computer Science. They both have dry senses of humor, and enjoy just being in eachother's company. They also enjoy meerkats and companion cubes.


A romantic picture, the two just posing, or something super silly and cute (the cake is a lie), are all great options!

Best Kenji: 50k!

Kaophyre and Kenji_Salk are a real-life couple. They've been together for 5 years (Halloween was their anniversary) and were married in a civil ceremony in December. Kao is attending medical school, studying to be a paramedic, and is a classically over-dramatic, outgoing, domineering Leo. Kenji is an artist, and a classically shy, soft-hearted Cancer. We're both boys, in case there was any doubt. :]

Kao and Kenji can be drawn together, or separately for the "Best Kao" or "Best Kenji" prizes.

Kao's favorite colors: black, gray, burgundy, scarlet red, linen/cream, gold.
Kenji's favorite colors: blues, gray, silver, forest green, "angelic" whites.

Kao's hobbies are archery, fencing, reading (history and medical texts mostly comic books), cooking, music, and daydreaming.
Kenji's hobbies are drawing, food, video games, music, anime, reading, and collecting various crap.

Kao likes alcohol, smoking (those lovely small cigars), pinstripes, private school uniforms, formal wear, French/Russian/Welsh culture and history, being Jewish, wearing glasses, birds of prey, looking classy, neckwear, fanciful historical costumes, winter, equestrian boots and suchlike, flintlock pistols and rapiers, the medical profession, propaganda posters/pop art, comic books, militaria.

Kenji likes cute things (penguins, toucans, kitties, robots), Kao's Jewishness, scarves and winterwear, fuzzy hats, English post-punk bands, Halloween (and the winter holidays), taffy, competitive swimming, androgynous people, intelligent horror/thriller films (not an oxymoron), sandwiches, flared pants/jackets, city life, multiculturalism, layered tees, tennis, gizmos/gadgets.

I guess that about covers it! obviously you really don't need to know about any of this, but hey, it's there, and we're easily bribed with things we're fond of!

concerning hair: if you draw Kao hatless (which is fine), the bangs should be no longer than the chin, and the ponytail should trail down the back, not sit sticking up on his head. it shouldn't be very long; shoulder-length at most. it can be straight, or wavy if you feel like. it can be dark brown or black. Kao's eyes can be gray, or blue.

Kenji generally wears the same items, but he is really just looking for the general color scheme, so outside of that, it's pretty open (love angelic blue/white, grey, and black).

NEWS FLASH!
The year is 1945! World War II is over but a fight still continues between two opposing forces over the fair country of Fabelhaft. Two ace pilots, only one can end this war. Who will achieve the ultimate victory?!

Meet BE! Otherwise known as Mrs. Bad Example. High-flying ace pilot extraordinary and hero to the people of Fabelhaft! Leader of the Fabelhaft Resistance and responsible for defeating 100's of enemy fighter planes single-handedly in air combat. That is until she met her match in Baron Dji VonSexypants, top pilot and commander of the Republic of Fabelhast Air Force. Both are former comrades of the Republic Airforce; they know each others strengths, weaknesses and perhaps something more!

The Rules: Both Mrs. Bad Example and Baron Dji must be visible in the picture. They must be either fighting, chasing eachother down, shooting at eachother, ect. Additional contests are located at the bottom of this post.


Mrs. Bad Example – For the record, BE!’s hair is put up in a very messy ponytail/bun/whatever, and she doesn’t wear the full helmet, just the goggles. The goggles do NOT need to be on top of the head and can be on the face if need be. The scarf is a must, doesn't need to cover the mouth. The eyepatch always covers the left eye - thus if you're looking at a picture it should appear on the right side. If it seriously ******** up the picture she may go "ehhh ok" but then again BE! is a very harsh and unforgiving person.

Baron Dji VonSexypants – Baron Dji must have long loose blond hair (no ponytails or braids), he is a chain smoker so he must always be smoking and have his long cigarette holder. His military uniform garb can be changed, added and altered but he must always be shirtless, with a daisy in his hair and have gloved hands. Both his eye patch and mole must be heart shaped. Eye patch can cover either eye, and mole can be on either side of his face. Remember, despite how militaristic Dji looks, he is NOT a Nazi, so please don't depict him as one.

dropd and shim are engaged, so romantic stuff is fine. shim tends to "wear the pants" in the relationship, but dropd isn't a pushover.

As far as art styles are concerned, we like anime (as long as it isn't super-shoujo -- chibis are fine, though), realism, american comic or cartoon, and almost any sort of stylized art, such as art deco, tattoo, etc. Holiday themes or wedding themes are fine. 3nodding Seasonal themes would actually be really neat to see.

Avatars are matched so that the first goes with the first, the second with the second, etc, but if you can think of a cute way to mix and match, go for it!

Simplification and/or stylization of the avatars and items is fine.

The first avatar is more typically me, which is why it matches the eyeball one so closely (see below)
Drop-D is a guitar tuning, so it'd be really cool if whatever picture could have some form of guitar in it.

CaptainJane and Canicuss go way back, they picked up Kurd Jam along the way because they felt sorry for the hobo. Kurd Jam and Canicuss are connoisseurs of fine spam who are constantly shrugging off the eye rollings of CaptainJane.

The trio submissions would preferably be silly, but serious will do in a pinch as long as they are creative and include Canicuss, Kurd Jam and CaptainJane.

Here are a few suggestions but feel free to create your own theme.

1. Kurd Jam and Canicuss sitting at a table, eating spam from a can with Captain Jane looking on in disgust.

2. Kurd and Cani building a tower of spam cans (like blocks) and Jane sneaking around planning on knocking it over.

3. Kurd and Cani driving in a car. Cani is driving Kurd and Jane both wanted shotgun and Jane lost. Or reverse it. Nyanya

4. The angelic CaptainJane with her two devilish minions.


- Any style of art is acceptable. Realism, Anime, Chibi, Comic book, Surrealism, etc., etc.
- Multiple entries are acceptable from the same artist.
- Top three prizes will be granted to three different artists.
- Top three prizes will only be awarded if we receive at least three submissions.



Canicuss

Canicuss is a wallflower with an attitude that pops up from time to time. She's also an avid reader whose avatar is carrying a book at any given time.

You can be creative with the clothing as long as it includes purple and red as the main colors, the Devil Tail and Horns of the Demon are a must. Feel free to accessorize and make her a star. One of her favorite accessories is the acorn, if you can work that into the drawing and dazzle her there might be a bonus prize.






Kurd Jam

Kurd Jam is the Lanky Spamming Spaniard and former hobo. He is not really that thin; and whereas he once was compulsively active, he now is a more laid back person.

Avatar must include trademark combination of horns and tail, as well as the glasses, beard and cig. The shirt may be hard to reproduce, so that part is left to the creativity of the artist as long as the overall unkempt look persists.





CaptainJane

CaptainJane is a known lurker, she quietly watches everything and misses nothing.

Prefers for as little as possible to be changed in either avatar, try to stay as close on the accessories as you can, with the exception of the cloud on the first avatar.

Fishcorn is an incorrigible /b/tard with a bipolar personality. He's funny, scary, and creepy all at the same time; yet his top hat and kilt indicate intellectual refinement, so one is never quite sure what to make of him.

This is a couple's contest despite my graphic image saying "individual." Illustrate Fishcorn harassing, menacing, disturbing, trolling, or otherwise bothering any of the following four people:
