Welcome me harties to Sakura's and Aoreena's...



Here we are merely asking curious and maybe bored artists who would like to draw our characters from a story we have been formulating, and not to toot too many horns but I might add it has plenty of ACTION, ADVENTURE, ROMANCE, AND OTHER EPICNESSES..ES...So yes, we think it is rather fun, and so we hope this contest will be fun for others as much as the story and the characters are to us. <3

We'll include small backgrounds for each character so you can get a feel for them and thus maybe think of something to draw, however don't feel pressured to draw stuff based on the story. Go NUTS! Have FUN!

Ya wanna make one of the pirates eat an apple pie while an apple in a tree cries for its fallen brethren? GO FOR IT! heart

Maybe you want to force a few of them to dance around a campfire like hippies--or race with cows--plunder chickens from a Goose--swash buckle with Ronald McDonald--whatever you wanna try, please feel free to do so! heart If you want to draw the characters zooming around the sky (well they are sky pirates ;D) feel free to design the ship however you wish! Creative freedom hoooo! <3

Want to know more about these Sky Pirates you may or may not be considering drawing? Or maybe you are just tired and need a bed time story? Either way, grab your blankets and gather 'round for the most basic of basic stories of Pirate glory and awesomeness.

There were pirates and they were awesome. They flew around in the sky. THE END.

Don't worry I'm only yanking yer chain. <3 The real story goes a little something like this~

There once was a woman named Bonnie, she was a cut-throat, a hard @ss, you name it she was it, unless you say cute and cuddly cause then that I'm afraid wouldn't be so. One day Bonnie found out that she was sick, very sick, and that in a few short years she would die of an incurable illness. Determined not to let the illness destroy what little life she had left, she decided to go against the Government she hated and became an outlaw a Pirate! She didn't want to run off by her lonesome, so she started up a rinky-dink crew of misfits who all were tantalized by her promises of adventure, loot, and of course a chance at forging a legacy; a new age of piracy: In the SKY.

Bonnie's crew was larger than she had expected it to be and then later there would be even more to come, but she soon found that she needed each and every crewmate for different purpose. Her life-long friend, Lantern, who was seemingly the last witch left in the world, was calm and level headed, thus she appointed her as Vice Captain. The blond chef known as Duck Thosse was a friend of both Bonnie's and Lantern's (Lantern unbeknownst to him harbored a crush a long time ago for this skirt chasing man, and Bonnie...well...let's just say Duck and Bonnie got to know each other REALLY REALLY well one specific night years before she became a pirate ..wink wink ;D). Skilled in the culinary arts Bonnie found him to be a useful cook. Many times the chef would be aided in the kitchen by his two children, Kailey--the sweetie with a toy bunny with a gun its eye. (Yup. You heard right) and Kaliko --the protective brother who grew found of using an oil can as a weapon. (Yup. Interesting kids huh? ;3) The two of them love their father even though he often seems to get himself into trouble chasing after women. The two kids don't their mom.(remember that night I said Bonnie got to know Duck really reaaallly well? Well...AHEM.) They hope for one day that their dad can find himself a nice lady he won't scare away. Ai, a young winged thief and Koko, a dreamer with a heart burning for adventure, became instant best-buds aboard the ship. Bonnie was impressed with their knack for disguises so she appointed them as the ships very own Distractors! Ryuei, a a rogue stranger from a distant land, proved himself knowledgeable in various styles of combat and weaponry, so, it was with ease that Bonnie knighted him as their Weapon Specialist. A loner with a badly damaged face which he keeps hidden beneath a bandana, Ryuei finds comfort and a romance within the quirky, lighthearted Koko. heart Dr. Edenfield the man who originally informed Bonnie of her illness, is blind but no where near incapable. Calculating and thoroughly observant through the use of his other senses, Dr. Edenfield is not only the ship's doctor but one of Captain Bonnie's most trusted advisers. Shortly after the crew was formed the crew came upon Kyuu, a weapon designed by the dregs of the Government. They rescued him and Bonnie readily appointed the powerful man as their Secret Weapon. Shy and full of distrust, Kyuu, like Ryuei, finds ease and love within one of the other Distractors: Ai. heart Last but not least, the squid man named Kathooloo who was genetically mutated in an experiment against his will and made into a super strong sea creature, Bonnie made the ship's head Janitor. Poor guy!

With her rag-time team of strangers Captain Bonnie set sail through the clouds in search of a power she longed to snag from the corrupt hands of the dregs of the Government...and so the Adventure BEGINS!

Character Specifics heart

The last thing we want is for anyone to feel confused while attempting to draw a character from our contest so, to help alleviate as much uncertainty as possible the following outlines the basic personalities and other tidbits for each character. If however this post is not enough to answer all of your questions regarding any of the characters do not hesitate to ask Sakura or myself for assistance. Captain Bonnie!

Name: Bonnie
Hair color: Black(with a purple tint) with blonde bangs.
Eye color: Reddish brown
Age: 32
Medical History: Bipolar Disorder & mystery illness that is fatal.
Preferred outfit: Anything that does not hinder her movement in battle. Often times I've drawn her wearing a dress with a split at the bottom coupled with a pair of boots. *The Tektek is a good example of what she might wear, however feel free to experiment :3*
Weapon of Choice: Pistol. <3 Bonnie's got a thing for guns, the more fire power the better.
Personality: Commanding. She's brash and bold with her crew. She is sarcastic and tends to beat on the cook, Duck Thosse for fun. Given their past history together this isn't much of a surprise. Her determination and desire is heavily fueled by her knowledge of the fact she has limited time. She'll pillage anything from anyone if she thinks it will help to create her legacy.
Side facts: Bonnie is Kailey and Kaliko's mother but she has no desire to want to tell them about this fact. She prefers them not knowing. During battles with other pirates Bonnie hopes to keep them safe as much as possible./ The love of her life was affiliated with the Government, but was betrayed by the system he sought to protect and to enforce.
Likes: Beating on Duck Thosse, stealing treasure, and dreams of dying in glory.
Dislikes: Incompetence, arrogance, and fear.

Ship Navigator Lantern

Name: Lantern
Age: 33

Eye Color: Slighty darker than her hair color
Preferred Outfit: Anything flowy. Always wears her hat as it symbolizes her pride in being a witch. *The Tektek's hat is striped but Lantern's hat is white with a black and white buckle as shown in the reference drawing <3*

Personality: Calm and rather tranquil. Lantern is far more level headed than her friend Bonnie and often is sought by the crew for advice and reassurance regarding missions. Though she is calm and kind she holds a painful past, however she doesn't allow her past to get in the way of helping Bonnie with her plans.*For more details ask Aoreena :3*
Side facts: Lantern had a crush on Duck Thosse when they knew each other as kids many years ago. She held onto her feelings for him as they both grew older, however she realized her feelings for him were one sided./Has some nifty tattoos! *again see drawn reference*
Likes: Peace and quiet, cooking, reading, and watching over the young ones on the ship.
Dislikes: Being in love and being lonely.

Name: Tristen Duct Thosse
Age: 35
Hair Color: Blond
Eye Color: Olive Green
Interests: Cooking and women.
Race: Half warlock--half human.
Siblings: Suzuah Thosse.
Children: Kaliko Thosse and Kailey Thosse.
Position on the sky crew: Cook. Full-time womanizer.
Preferred Outfit: Duck tends to just wear tan pants with a teal colored apron tied about his waist. He knows he is a joy to the world, so his method is "why not flaunt it." He wears a patch around his chest covering his left n****e, only he knows. He wears a hand-cuff on his right hand. The hand-cuff is for hooking up with girls, making them his love slave.
Weapon of Choice: His hand-cuff has a knife in the open part. He also uses his fists in battle.
Fun Facts: Duck had a fling with the infamous Captain Bonnie, which caused the twins to be born. He also has a disease called hiccups, since Duck is half wizard he has moments where he causes magic to happen, but he can't control what is produced from them.
Personality: Duck is pretty chilled with life, but when he comes to his past he hates it. He is bitter to that former life. When revenge is on his mind, Duck will pursue it till the deed is done. He loves family though.

Protective Twin Kaliko

Name: Kaliko Thosse
Age: 10
Hair Color: Dirty Blond
Hair Style: Messy bed hair
Eye Color: Olive Green
Important Features: He wears goggles on his head. He also has a star birth mark on the left side of his cheek. He also has a fake sun tattoo on the right side of his arm.
Preferred Outfit: He wears an orange colored shirt with a sun on it. His shorts are a brown color with purple fluffy balls tied on the ends of each side of his shorts. He wears simple brown boots.
Personality: Kaliko is very protective over his family more or less over his sister. He is VERY shy. In the end he loves to play just like every kid. He is still growing up.
Weapon of Choice: He does not fight.
Likes: Family, learning, and playing.
Dislikes: Strange people and violence.
Funfacts: Kaliko likes the sun, there is a sun on his shirt. He also was given a oil can to help protect his family and crew, though the can to him is equivalent to a pistol in his mind (I remind you he is only 10 years old still.) He looks up to his father and the doctor on the ship, which inspires Kaliko to be a doctor when he grows up. And lastly he is scared of the squid man (Kathooloo) and the ship's mechanic (Leah).

Winged Lovely Ai

Name: Ai Rougen
Hair Color: Chestnut brown
Hair Style: Hair in Braid | Hair Down
Eye Color: Sky blue the heights in her eyes are a cyan color to add shine and glimmer.
Age: 23
Important Features: Ai is a medium sized girl with two white wings. She also has a long scar on the back of her shin on the left side of her leg, she obtained by her father.
Example of outfit: *details below* Main ensemble
Preferred Outfit: Ai has many outfits actually. Here is one she wears a lot: A bikini tube top(base color is white.) with a rainbow dot pattern on it, there is a similar scarf around her neck. She wears a brown mini skirt, with long belt loops, which holds her long ribbon that ties in the back. The ribbon is a magenta color. She has white thigh high stockings that are held onto by pink ribbons. And on the bottom she has plain brown boots that are laced up with tan threads. She wears to clear sky blue glass bangles on each wrist. Overall, Ai loves fashion, so if you don't want to do this outfit you can try anything else.

Weapon of choice: Strength. She has the strength of two men. Plus her two legs. Ai channels Chung-Li.
Personality: Not the brightest star in the galaxy, Ai does learn from her mistakes. She is a simple girl from a simple rule town. She has a complex about her weight and skin due to her not being able to fully fly with her wings and her large scar on the back of her left leg. And easily impressed.
Likes: Clothing, eating, flying?, cleaning, cuddling, and stealing.
Dislikes: Being hungry, boredom, not having new clothes, and rude and nasty people.

Secret Weapon Kyuu

Name: Kyuu
His mate: Ai Rougen. She's a half breed winged creature, with brute strength. He tends to connect with Ai more then anyone. Also being his weakness.
Hair: Light pale blond.
Eyes: Cobalt blue.
Skin: Very pale.
Height: 6'2.
Facial features: Lines under his eyes and a frown almost all the time.

Clothing:Shirt: His top is a tunic with the Hiragana characters stitched into the waist on the right side meaning nine. The stitching is dark crimson. The color of the tunic is a light tan or brown. (This is a detail that is very minor, later in the story they actually give him better clothing.)
Accessories: A red ribbon swung around his neck with a knot tying it together, given to him by Ai. (For remembrance reasons.)
Pants: Plain black jeans or loose leather pants.
Shoes: Simple black boots with no lacing. Slip on boots, more or less.
Fun Fact: Kyuu means nine in Japanese. It's the Romanji form of his name.
He's an experiment--followed by being used as a weapon by Pirates--The infamous Sky Pirates.
His special abilities are telepathy and transporting. Besides all that his heart is weak, so he has another side that protects his wholesome self from being hurt. He only can feed off of thoughts from a strong being.

Name: Koko Dela Zitheljork (But you can just call her Koko ;3)
Age: 19
Hair color: Green (Her natural color is a light brown)
Eye color: Blue
Love Interest: Ryuei
Preferred outfit: A tank top and comfy pants! Koko has a flair for the asymmetrical (Death the Kid from Soul Eater would not be amused! ) thus her pants are long and short. *see the drawn reference for further details* Koko is also severely near sighted so, thanks to Lantern's magic, her goggles act as glasses. She tends to wear then on the top of her head when relaxing, but once a matter becomes serious she snaps them over her eyes and takes in the situation. Also, she hates shoes. Alot. Ipso facto, she doesn't wear them. *As a Distractor for the crew Koko dons various disguises. Let your imagination run rampant if you wish to draw her in wacky outfits*
Weapon of Choice: Her Distractor abilities. Koko is a pro at confusing people, especially her enemies. Her right hook isn't bad either. ;D
Personality: Fun and high spirited! Koko is a dreamer who just loves to laugh. She lives for the present, is very easy going, not to mention silly. As a pirate she yearns for the sense of adventure, giddy for each and every mission. This is not to say that Koko is one-sided. She harbors a deep guilt for leaving behind her parents and the life they worked so hard to give her, and also secretly fears death.
Side facts: Is in love with Ryuei aka the Weapon Specialist. Koko doesn't fully believe in thievery, however her best friend Ai and her boyfriend Ryuei are pros in this area, so she usually lets it slide when around either of them./Can throw her voice and change it to sound like almost anything.
Likes: Laughing, singing, wearing disguises, hanging with her friend Ai, and spending time with Ryuei.
Dislikes: Greed, cruelty, hurting others, and frozen peas.

Preferred Outfit:Call it a warrior's pride, but Ryuei dislikes wearing shirts. He will if he must but, he proudly displays the three scars across his chest as a symbol of strength and tenacity. He tends to wear black pants and dark maroon/or black boots. Also likes his red colored gloves *think of Ash's from Pokemon ;3*.
Weapon of Choice: As the Weapon Specialist on the Sky Pirate crew he most certainly is not picky when it comes to weaponry. His favorites include: swords, pistols, a gun-sword, grenades, and the ever stealthy poison dart. If those don't do the trick, or if he feels like doing things the ol' fashioned way, he is quite strong and can pack a hard punch. His kicks are sometimes even more deadly than any of his weapons combined. Needless to say...OUCH.
Personality: Is it cliche' to say 'strong and silent'? Well cliche' or not that pretty much describes Ryuei to a 'T'. He rarely talks to anyone aboard the ship minus Captain Bonnie and Koko. He takes pride in his strength, however at the same time he is cursed by it. Years ago he took part in an experiment that gave him physical strength to the nth degree but he found later on that the drug he took was slowly crippling him. He'd remain strong and powerful but become unable to move. This reality constantly frightens him and causes him to feel emotionally distant from others not to mention fearful of maintaining a relationship with Koko (also since the drug would just as slowly disfigure most of his face and some of his body). When he is happy though, his softer side does shine through the murky clouds that begin to lift from his soul.
Side facts: He was abandoned as a child and found a home in island ring known as the 'Chaos Circle' aka home to bandits and assassins for hire. Became the vice-captain so to speak of a band of thieves./ Has a terrible singing voice and secretly loves animals.
Likes: Fighting, strength, confidence.
Dislikes:Sight of lonely children, poverty, and the reality of eventually becoming paralyzed.

Preferred Outfit: Any kind of dress! Kailey is a girly-girl through and through, thus she truly enjoys wearing dresses, bracelets, necklaces, you name the accessory and she most likely has it. Her favorite outfit is a white dress decorated with the design of either blue dots *as in the Tektek* or clouds *as seen here*
Weapon of Choice: Toy Bunny Gun. Yup, you heard right. Inside Kailey's toy bunny lies a pistol at the ready. Don't gear up to yell at Duck Thosse just yet for bad parenting. The gun is mostly a stun gun, but boy does it hurt!
Personality: Extremely sweet and pleasant. Kailey is the most fun-loving kid you will ever meet and boy does she like to flaunt her curiosity! Her brother is usually kept fairly busy watching over her and making sure she doesn't get herself into too much trouble. Next to her brother and father, Kailey admires Koko a great deal for her wacky personality and her eagerness for fun and adventure. Despite the danger that exists within the life of a pirate, Kailey is rarely afraid in tough situations, not because she doesn't understand the severity of what is happening around them, but more so because she completely trusts that her father and her other friends on the ship can handle just about anything. Plus, when you have a bunny doll that has a gun packed away on the inside, you tend to leave fear at the door. ;D
Side Facts: Is very curious as to who their real mother is but knows not to pester her father for the information as she has found from experience that the topic is off limits./Writes letters addressed to her mom and keeps them inside a special drawer in her room with Kaliko.
Likes: Sweets, dancing, making funny noises, and staring up at the clouds.
Dislikes: Sadness, Sour things, veggies, and peanut butter.
