Alright. It's no surprise to anyone that I love art. My friends know. Oh, man, they'd tie me up and keep me away from buying commission art if they could. It's just that I enjoy seeing how other people interpret my characters. I can't help myself.

This is an OC contest, but there are avatars thrown in for outfit purposes.

The characters in this contest are in stories I've written and I am also working on a webcomic, which holds the same name to this contest. The stories have not been posted anywhere. I'm updating and rewriting most of them and I'm not sure if I will ever post them anywhere online. However, I'm hoping to start posting the comic some time this year.

Judging by the poll, I'm not going to change anything to the deadline. I apologize to those who wanted it changed.

I will have a second contest after this one once I have more prizes gathered. I'll try to make the deadline sometime in Summer or September for that one. I have no estimated time for release for the next contest, though. I want the prize pool to be similar to this one, so item gathering will take some time. If the contest duration become longer than a year, I'll try to add more prizes as I go along like I did with this one to add to the value.

To clarify the poll, I would basically be giving users an extra week to finish their entries as long as they have shown a WIP. From there, users who have not shown a WIP will not be able to enter when the WIP deadline has been met. From there, the final deadline would be the end of the 25th.

I don't like changing dates to deadlines, but I understand that this is a strange time of the year to end a contest for many people. I might not change anything, but I want to see how much demand there is for a WIP deadline.

Since February is the last full month (well...as full as February can be...), I'll be giving out CI bundles for the RNG roll. However, I'll only do this if there's participation. I would say at least 3 entrants. I'll add more bundles if there much more.

Since I'm aware that couple drawings are often harder to do, I've increased the values of "Let Me Cherish You" and "It's A Love Triangle In Here." They're roughly the same value as overall fifth place now, so I may need to rebalance that category. At the same time, "fifth place" is for a wider range of variety in entries, so it may not be necessary.

"Let Me Cherish You" now has a full Sainte Ciel set in it. Definitely won't be adding more with how stacked that category is now.

I've noticed that some refs have disappeared from a few of my character profiles as an image limit was added when the site updated their layout. I'll fix that up as soon as possible. There are currently no entries for the side contest and not very many contestants overall, I've noticed. That makes me worry, but don't worry. I'm stubborn and would never extend or cancel the contest.

Sorry that I've been a bit useless lately. Got sick twice on December and I've just finally recovered for the most part. Still raiding the tissue boxes, but that not so bad.

Looking over the side characters I have. I know that I won't be able to release all of the groups, so I'm going over the key characters from each group. I may not release the Moonspear Council. Nysticus is the central character from that group, but I may release Silvios since he is Atticus' father. For now, characters from the Radiant Crusade seem more practical to release since there's more female characters and the group. Sanriel, Cesium, and Razekiel also overlap with them. People from Lindsway City are also an option so that there's more characters for Atticus to interact with in a "normal" setting.

There's way more groups on my profile list since I have a lot of characters, but I'll leave those for when I start posting my comic online. It's just that I'm really sluggish when it comes to drawing at the moment and I feel bad about that.

I was looking at some GW2 screenshots and I saw this. It's a pretty old screenshot, but if anyone wants to draw Chimera Raz similar to this, I'm all for it. I also can take screenshots of the other characters since they're pretty close to how I want the characters to look. (As much as I can, at least. Had to make due with Atticus.)

I've updated the estimated values of the categories as much as I could after the Black Friday Sale. Things didn't change very much, thankfully.

I've added a magical girl category. I'm going to add one final item category after this. From there, anything else will be small prizes based on participation.

I've gotten even more sick recently, so I'm pretty useless at the moment. I feel pretty horrible. I'm going to be resting during the weekend and wn't be doing overtime at work. I'll be updating the prizes when I'm off work. I'm going to add some old MC items and EIs to the prize pool. No items will be taken away, but some categories will be reorganized. I will be updating banners to get a bit closer to the value of the contest.

I'll also be adding Nysticus and Jethro's profile informations. Sorry for the delay on those two. Same with Cesium and Atticus' post images. Once I finish these up, I'll work on profiles for the side characters. I don't have a time frame for when these are completed since I work every day IRL, though.

New poll. I've been thinking about whether I should do this in relation to the contest's deadline and everything else. I added an "Extend the contest" option I'm serious when I say that I'm thinking about adding a halo, but I'm still unsure due to its sentimental value. It also really depends on how I do with my character refs since it wouldn't be fair to you guys if I there isn't enough time to finish pieces because of that.

Also, I'm going to try and release more female characters and pets next month. Just that my hours at work are consuming most of my time. On my lunch break as I type this.

Judging by the poll, it looks like I should add more of my female characters. One character I want to add is Arabelle "Falcon" Riviera. I wanted to release her in August along with Jezel Castillon and the rest of the Radiant Crusade, but I have been busy. As you can see, Falcon's ref is a very old train sketch when I was first designing her back in 2010. She's another favourite of mine, so hopefully I'll have some time to redraw her and provide information soon.

I have the winners chosen for the summer contest and have a solution to how I am going to distribute the prizes since only three people entered. I will be announcing the winners once I get home from work.

Also, I just added SDPlus Bibbles and SDPlus Cookie Boots to the "Wild Card" category. There will now be three RNG rolls for the overall entry count, so everyone has a bit more chance to win an item regardless of skill. I might add more in the future based on how many entries are submitted to the contest.

Even though the summer side contest is still running until the 10th, I am setting up the autumn side contest for September and October. It will be posted on September 1st.

I apologize if anyone is having problems with character profiles. I've been re-writing and reformatting the character profiles for the versions I'm posting on Gaia. I've added a few more details like weapons of choice, instruments the characters play, etc.

There appears to be uploading issues with charahub at the moment, so here's a clean version of Cesium's erinyes/harpy form. It's artistic nudity, but I removed the nipples just a case. Just a warning. I'll place the ref in the proper place once I have time to colour it. A friend of mine drew it.

Still quite busy IRL. After this week, I'll be put on a 6 week project. I still want to release my webcomic this year and finish more character refs, so I might not be seen online other than to answer questions and check entries.

Update: I will be working every day from June 25th the July 6th from 9am-5:30pm. I might be free during weekends, but I take care of my 1 year old cousin on weekends. Just letting you guys know in case anyone is wondering where I am during the day. I might not be online at night either since I still need rest. Was coughing most of the day at work and I feel kind of bad for the people around me.

I will be online to distribute monthly contests prizes at the end of June. For July, I will scale up the artist monthly contest a bit, so keep an eye on that.

Going to EA today around 2pm for an orientation. I'm not sure when I will be back home, but I am thinking of adding another side contest of some sort. Gaia anniversary is on the 19th. I keep forgetting about that.

I'm working on avatar outfits now for the characters. You should start seeing them later tonight. Keep in mind that the hairstyles won't be exact unless I were to make avatar edits. You'll still need to refer to the character profiles for things such as hairstyle, scars, etc.

Gah. I broke my main character profile page since the edit feature is pretty buggy. Don't look at the main page until I get this resolved. I'll link to Atticus and Cesium to the character post of this thread as soon as possible.

There was some funky things going on a few days ago and it appears that mules were stacking the first option of the poll. The accounts were posting in the thread and then deleting their posts soon after. I'll wait a bit before I decide to make avatar outfits for the characters.

Working on the CSS for the character pages on Charahub since the default light green is driving me nuts. Also adding more information and drawing more refs again now that I have the new computer set up.

I will be doing rolls for the monthly contests tomorrow when I wake up. (Did them around midnight.) Good luck to everyone who participated and good luck to those who are participating in the next round.

Also, now that I have a new computer and won't have to worry about the computer exploding, I'm properly drawing new character references. New height charts with proper body types will be drawn instead of merely addressing height. I need the practice.

I also added another rendition to the renditions page of Jikal and Quil's alternate colours. This isn't new. I just had forgotten to upload it to the gallery.

Installing programs at the moment to the new computer. I may be on and off during the day. Haven't gotten around to installing my Cintiq yet. Dealing with my drawing and music programs first.

Maybe I can finally finish some music themes for my characters for your guys to listen to now that I have a computer that won't kill itself upon opening the program. I've been aching to compose music again for a few months now.

Razekiel

◄ Demonic features can be omitted as he hides them sometimes. It can also differ in different stages, so to speak. Refer to this to see how exaggerated his head can be as a character.

◄ Some of these are a mixture of Tektek and saved avatars, so you may notice the grombie skin or skin mods from the saved avatars. Don't draw Raz completely white. I just...like to match when I make avatars.

◄ He can be seen with shorter hair sometimes. As a character, he does get a haircut every now and then, but it tends to become long after shifting between forms.

Sanriel

◄ There aren't necessarily any hairstyles on Gaia that suit Sanriel, so I had to make due. His hair should be more like this.

◄ Most of these are going to be casual outfits as his current default design uses armour. Any armour related designs are paladin/crusader related.

◄ Living Sanriel should never be seen wearing modern clothing. Unless there's some strange time traveling or an AU going on, please avoid that.

Jikal

◄ The first avatar is the RP mule's avatar. (Which changes every now and then.)

Quil

Orion

Nysticus

◄ Items on Gaia are limited. This is just a hooded alternative.

◄ The avatars you see are avatar edits. The colours and placement of her horns were adjusted. The colour of the hair has also been adjusted.

◄ Like Razekiel, her horns can also can be hidden.

◄ One of the few characters that rarely wears black or dark colours. She prefers vibrant colours.

Atticus

◄ The first avatar is the RP mule's avatar. (It's also the contest mule, so he looks like a crazy college student who can't stop bringing animals home.)

◄ His hair often changes drastically. He also is prone to using a variety of bizarre contact lenses. Features that remain are his earrings and the tattoo below his right eye. An example is here or here.

◄ He's basically a wildcard. His personality can range from gentle/carefree to insane/power hungry.

Age Order
◄ Since the first story I wrote starts out following the first four characters when they were children, I'll clarify their ages a bit since they are over a few centuries old. This is more clarification for childhood related entries. The age order from oldest to youngest is Sanriel, Quil, Jikal, and Razekiel. As an example, Sanriel is two years older than the twins and four years older than Razekiel. Quil is the first born twin. The brothers met the twins roughly when Razekiel just turned "four" years old. Aging slows down significantly during maturity. Childhood is slightly slower than human aging, but not as noticeable until teenage years.

Romantic Pairings

◄ Razekiel and Quil: [When they were younger] They were never in an official relationship. Since childhood, they were very close. Quil considered Raz as her best friend. Other than her sisters and brother, he was her only friend. She treated him more like a pet at first when they were children as he's younger, but stopped when she got to know him more. When war broke loose, the two perhaps became too close because of what was happening. It clouded their judgement. Mistakes were made from both sides that broke the bond they had. As adults, they can be considered as enemies at first due to Quil's unstable behavior and clouded perception of the past. Raz later forgives Quil even though she feels that she either does not deserve it or is enraged that he is in a new relationship when they finally reunite.

◄ Sanriel and Jikal: This relationship was one sided, for the most part. Sanriel was deeply in love with Jikal. He wanted to protect him and someday show the world to him since Jikal was sheltered his entire childhood. Since Jikal is a prince, it made it hard for San to make any moves. As soon as the opportunity was there, he took it. Jikal was incredibly confused when it happened, to say the least. It made him question himself since San was a close friend. He loved him dearly, but he wasn't sure if he had romantic feelings. Jikal was not exposed to many people who were not servants or family at the time.

◄ Razekiel and Cesium: After years of avoiding relationships since his human wife that he met after Crest had died, Raz eventually meets another fae. Cesium was originally quite reluctant to trust him at first due to her excessively cautious and perhaps shy nature. They were friends for several years before a romantic relationship developed. They were a musical duo as soon as Raz realized that Cesium loved to sing. (I've written a huge chunk after this that is important, but it's full of spoilers. If there are people who want to know what I typed out, ask and I'll send it through PM.)

◄ Sanriel and Quil: For the most part, he was her slave. She "killed" him and imprisoned his soul in the soul gem that he used to wear to control his demonism. She knew that it was wrong. She hurt Razekiel by doing this to Sanriel, but she was too unstable to act upon better judgement. In her eyes, he was in the wrong. He had to die. She gave him bodies to possess and it tore at his own sanity since the bodies were usually already dead before he got to them. Despite this, he was never angry at her. He was too forgiving and it frustrated her even though he gave her the company she desired. Eventually, she gave him back his "real body" through the means of magic and set him free. Despite this, he chooses to stay by her side and protect her since that was all he knew to do for many years. He saw good in her despite her unstable, insane nature. This confuses her deeply, but she's thankful to have someone who cares for her. If anything, he's likely lost his mind for being soul bound to her for so long. Arguably a "You remind me of him" pairing since Sanriel was in love with Jikal and Quil was in love with Razekiel.

Close Friends/Ambiguous Pairings

◄ Razekiel and Jikal: During modern times, they are seen together all the time unless Jikal is dealing with issues in Venefiren. People often question whether or not they are together because of this, but they promptly dismiss any claims. They squabble sometimes and Jikal tends to scold Razekiel, but they will always protect each other regardless of their mood. Their relationship is more or less brotherly even though Raz may do something perverted simply because he knows that it makes Jikal uncomfortable.

◄ Razekiel and Jethro: During Jethro's "Quznar" phase, he served Razekiel as a warlock minion. Despite this, Quznar seemed to constantly nitpick any actions he did not approve. This included tasks he was given that he feared bodily pain from. Nevertheless, he did show affection towards his master and habitually rides Razekiel's shoulders any chance he gets. Once Jethro is freed from his curse, there is an awkwardness between them at first, but they agree to remain close friends. Jethro seems to retain a strange loyalty towards Razekiel that he begins to question himself, but tries to disregard any romantic feelings and considers him more like a little brother. At least, he tries to.

◄ Jethro and Nysticus: They appear to have a rather strong love-hate relationship. When they were both cursed and watching over Razekiel as warlock familiars, one always wanted to be present over the other. Nysticus wanted to watch over Raz due to their general father-son relationship as Raz was growing up. Jethro, on the other hand, had succumbed to imp-like tendencies and simply wanted to be close to Raz as much as possible. Once the two were freed, they still have a tendency to tease and compete, but they have generally grown to be close friends. It's just that there will seldom be a time where they're not throwing insults at each other. Possibly beard or hair pulling if one of them is angry enough to start it...

◄ Razekiel and Atticus: For the most part, Atticus is infatuated with Razekiel, but not in the way that he may think. While he looks up to him as a musician and is a bit of a fanboy, he has an overwhelming attraction to Raz's shadow elemental properties. As a shadow priest, Atticus subconsciously desires to siphon and take this power for himself, but he does not realize that this is the true reason of his feelings. Razekiel's aware of this and keeps a close watch on the boy to make sure that he does not go mad since Atticus is half human. He treats him like a little brother which disappoints Atticus, but he's relieved to have gotten close to Razekiel at all after all the years of distant idolization.

Family Related

◄ Sanriel and Razekiel: [When they were children] [When Razekiel grows up] Since they were little, Sanriel had always tried his hardest to take care of his baby brother. He would do anything for him. Raz was the only family he had. He didn't want to lose him after the horrors he witnessed after their parents' death. When Sanriel was killed by Quil when they were teenagers, Razekiel was broken. Especially since his best friend/lover had killed his own brother. Things calmed at first, but he eventually began to lose his way over the centuries. When Razekiel is finally reunited with Sanriel, he is unsure of what to think. Is this one of Quil's tricks? When he comes to accept that it really is his brother, he feels heavy guilt that he could do nothing to save him in the past. Sanriel reassures him that everything will be all right even though they've both grown to roam the world in ways that others would be horrified by.

◄ Jikal and Quil: Other than their other sisters, they have always been inseparable. Even when Jikal does not approve of Quil's choices, he will always be there for his twin. Even when Quil is unstable or in a blind rage, Jikal will always find ways to calm her down. However, he often feels uneasy with the secrets that are kept between them and/or with their family. The fact that Quil bore a child that belonged to Razekiel was a heavy burden in itself until she gave him the permission to find and tell him the truth. The worst was when he found out that she was keeping Sanriel's soul imprisoned in a gem. It conflicted with his emotions since he was still not sure if he was ever in love with him. Despite this, he'll always love his sister no matter how twisted she can be.

◄ Orion and Quil: Even though Orion grew up with Quil closely by his side, he didn't find out that she is his mother until his "early teens." She's protective of him and treats him like a pupil, making sure that he is properly trained to protect himself. Considering that he is reasonably clumsy, she has almost blown her cover during his childhood numerous times. When he finally finds out, he has begun to call her mother, but still blurts out "Quil" or "princess" from time to time.

◄ Orion and Razekiel: Razekiel was not aware that he had a son until Orion went to search for him, initially unaware that Raz is his father. At first, Orion is stubborn and determined to capture him to take him back to the Venefiren kingdom. Raz was uneasy/suspicious right away as he thought Orion resembled Sanriel. They eventually warm up to each other and their similarities begin to show as they start to joke around. After Orion finds out that he is Razekiel's son, things don't really change at that point since they had already been behaving in a "father and son" sort of way.

◄ Nysticus and Sanriel: Even though Nysticus was not their real father, Sanriel eventually grew to respect and care for the old wizard. He even went as far as to call him father as they grew closer. Something about him felt familiar, yet he could not pinpoint what that may have been. Nysticus was also the only one who managed to teach Sanriel on how to control his "body hopping" abilities. In the long run, it may have been the only reason Sanriel "survived" when Quil killed his physical body.

◄ Nysticus and Razekiel: Even though Nysticus was arguably closer to Sanriel when the brothers were children, he was one of Razekiel's mentors. To Raz, the Venefiren king was his father figure. Nysticus didn't mind as long as he could teach him how to control his magic. When Nysticus was cursed by another elder in the Moonspear Council, he chose to soul bind himself to Raz to both avoid enslavement, but to also make sure that he could protect the boy whenever necessary. He was much like a living shadow until Raz became a warlock in his older years. During these times, a part of Raz knew that "Hathphog" was Nysticus, but he had doubts due to Hathphog's often detached and sluggish behaviour. The only reason he knew it was him was the fact that he sometimes said and behaved in ways only Nysticus would. Even when Hathphog could barely remember who he really was until he was freed. After Raz found a way to free Nysticus, he finds out secrets about him that he did not expect. They're not as different as he had originally thought.

◄ Nysticus, Jikal, and Razekiel: Nysticus knew that his nephew was having a hard time in the castle. He was a hopeless wreck for being the heir to the throne. While Enjil wanted Jikal to learn how to fight with the sword, Nysticus knew that the boy's heart yearned for the elements. Nysticus taught both Jikal and Razekiel together when they were children. Despite their personalities, it amazed him to discover that Jikal's magic was of the illusion and offensive variety, yet Raz enjoyed the healing aspect of magic despite his demonic characteristics that were dormant within. Nysticus adjusted and played around with this fact and made sure to teach the two to work together. While he did teach Razekiel offensive spells, he made sure that it complimented and supported Jikal's rather than overshadow him. As they grew older, Jikal was the one who excelled significantly. Razekiel had become restricted and stunted since the council had sealed and prevented him from advancing due to his growing demonism. He became restricted to only healing spells. This changes entirely when the seal was broken. The more the dark energy grew inside him, the harder it became for him to hold onto any shred of holy energy he had. The only way he could use healing magic again was for either Jikal or Nysticus to reseal his demonism. This is seldom done since it tears at Razekiel's sanity and his demonism has been proven to be more useful in most situations despite its chaotic nature.

Rivals or Enemies

◄ Razekiel and Jikal: Yes, them again. However, their rivalry is not violent or hateful. It's musical. When times are not hectic and they have time to relax, they do enjoy a classical violin duel every now and then. Raz often tries to bring out Jikal's side that desires to have fun and this is the only way he can do it without difficulty.

◄ Quil and Cesium: Other than the fact that they've both had a relationship with Razekiel, their overall views in life conflict each other. Quil is wreckless and generally selfish. With the exception of her son, she does things for her own benefit even if a loved one will get hurt in the process. While Cesium is not completely careful as she wants to be by any means, she tries to be cautious and puts the needs of others over her own when she feels that they deserve it. Even though Quil simply longs to be close to Raz in friendship terms like when they were children, she may harbour irrational jealousy towards Cesium since she holds his heart and loyalty.

◄ How long have you been on Gaia? Why are you still here?

I've been around since June 19th, 2003. I suppose the reason I'm still around is...well...artwork. Also, I guess I have a certain attachment to the place. Don't get me wrong, though. I've been on hiatus before. One that lasted for perhaps over two years. I still browsed, but it was random and far between. I initally came back for the sole purpose to save up gold to get artwork. If I ever decide that I'm going to leave Gaia...well...that will just mean more prizes for you guys, now doesn't it?

◄ What kind of art do you like?

I enjoy many styles of art. However, I will admit that I don't fancy chibi art all that much. I'm sure that I can be pleasantly surprised if it's drawn well, though. Below is a link to a gallery of artwork I've received from other people. There are a few chibi pieces just to show that I'm not totally biased against the style...just...unless you blow my mind away and it's really detailed, don't expect to win the top prizes with a chibi. Is this scaring people? I'm not saying that I hate chibi art. It's just a preference. sweatdrop

◄ Huh? Who are those characters in the couple pics people drew for you?

If you see a couple art example in the gallery linked above and a character is unfamiliar, but you would like to draw them, ask me. They are usually characters created by my friends. The entry will still have to have at least one of my characters for it to count in the contests, but if you do draw my friends' characters, I'm sure that they would be more than thankful.

◄ ...is that a fantroll in the renditions? Why is that there?

Hey. I added those since I like the art. Just showing more examples. However...no. There's no prize category for him unless people really want there to be one. It would be a rather random category.

◄ Is there any pet peeves I should know about?

Well...there is one. Height. Some characters have similar height, so I have no problem there. HOWEVER, there are some characters who are fairly tall while others are reasonably small. I don't want to see characters who are pretty much a foot difference in height looking the same. I'll be a sad panda if the others somehow appear as though they are the same height as Orion.

◄ Which characters are better suited in certain categories?

The gold only prizes are self-explanitory. Other than that, I have listed suggestions in each character's profiles. If you are still unsure, feel free to ask me for clarification. The main nine characters should fit within all of the item categories.
(Most of this refers to side characters that are currently unreleased.)

◄ Raz! Why is the deadline so far away?!

Is it? I have no idea how to time a contest like this. Especially since I will be dumping more gold and prizes into it along the way. Also, one thing I promise is that I will not extend the contest. The end date you see is what you will get, so use your time wisely. If you procrastinate and miss out...well...I don't know what to tell you.

◄ Can I help you judge the entries?

You want to? Well, only if I know you and have your MSN or Skype info, sure. You just can't enter the contest if you want to help judge, though.

◄ I can't draw, but can I get art from you instead?

Would people want art from me? I will likely draw freebies during the duration of the contest as long as there are people chatting in the thread. If people want to commission, just send me a PM. Just don't ask for anything too crazy.

◄ Why are there so many "random number generator" mini contests/prizes?

Gaia made me this way...err...I mean... There's only a few. I want everyone to have a chance to win something regardless of skill as long as they try and put forth effort towards the contest. There are still many, MANY other prizes that outweigh the RNG bits.

◄ Why are there so many items in the categories? Why don't you split them into many more categories?

Eh... That's just how I groove. Also, it gives a better chance for people to collab together and then share the prizes a bit better.

◄ How come Jikal and Quil sometimes have silver hair with red eyes and then black hair with blue eyes other times?

Reasons...there is a reason for Jikal, story-wise, but not for Quil. It's just that I like having the twins look similar, so his alternate colour palette can also be used for her. However, I have no objections to seeing them in an image together with a black haired, blue eyed Jikal interacting with a silver haired, crimson eyed Quil. By all means, that would actually be accurate. The other way around would be questionable, though.

◄ Doesn't [character here] have a different name?

I've had a lot of these characters since 2001 or longer. As the story progressed and evolved, I felt that their names had to change to make more sense in relation to the world they live in and where they were raised. Sanzo's name actually changed quite a few times and was Samuel for a good while. (Considering his nature in the story, he may as well go by several different names, though.)

Razumi's name changed to Razekiel.
Sanzo's name changed to Sanriel.
Otira's name changed to Orion.

I may slip every now and then and may say either of their names during conversation. For nostalgic purposes, I do use the original names whenever I RP. As for Razumi...well...yeah.

Here's some info. Let me know if you'd like to know more, though.

Silver Wisp Kingdom: Venefiren
Drow Kingdom: Kianthel
Fae/Elven Kingdom: Maethorarn
Human City: Lindsway City

Venefiren

Venefiren is a kingdom of mana and crystals. There are crystal pillars/towers that protect it in a barrier, but as a result, it "changed" people. When it rains, the magic from the barrier washes down into the water, their food, themselves, etc. While the originals and their offspring appear to have received their silver hair, red eyes, pale skin, and supernatural abilities by other means, it is possible for others to become similar if they are overexposed to the area. However, it only happens from long exposure to the area. It also varies from person to person. Some get sick. Some go insane.

Originally, to people who survived and tried to go to their homeland after journeys and adventures, they were considered witches. Demons. Monsters. Ghosts of who they used to be. Many weren't welcomed back since others didn't know how to react. Fear. Were they really who they said they were?

As a result of the originals becoming this way, Venefiren was developed. Most of the younger generations aren't aware of this. Many consider themselves a superior race. Likely words that are fed to them since childhood. They don't realize that they are a result of mana mutation that can happen to various other races.

In the past, the originals were bitter. Bitter enough to start war. Bitter enough to send their young to fight those who opposed them since they didn't know why better. Quil killed Sanriel during one of these battles. Soon after, Razekiel ran away and saved a mother and her children that Quil had tried to convince Sanriel to kill.

It's not so bad in present time, but there's still many rough patches here and there.

Kianthel

Kianthel is the drow kingdom of gems. Many from around the world come for the precious stones that can be found here. People from Venefiren and Maethorarn often work closely with Kianthel to create magic powered gems. This kingdom is generally quite peaceful, but they will aid other kingdom if it's necessary.

Maethorarn

Maethorarn is a kingdom full of wizards and supernatural animals. They are just across the water from Venefiren, so the two kingdoms often work closely together. However, this place holds secrets that may be darker than Venefiren's. Intentional corruption. Enslavement. Deceit. Of course, this is not the case for everyone in the city. Many are quite friendly and helpful. This makes it harder to spot the darkness that may hide behind what may be a disguise.

Lindsway City

Lindsway City is a modern city where magic is rare. Magic users are tolerated, but most consider them more trouble than good. Many are uneasy about Razekiel's Fury's Flight club since they are aware that he is not human. Some fear that he may be corrupting their youth with more than his music. Many mistaken him for a vampire rather than an incubus since that is what they're more commonly used to hearing about.

Atticus dyes his hair, wears contacts, and sometimes hides his ears depending on who he's around. Being the halfling offspring of someone who was from Venefiren is something he doesn't want others to question his mother about. The funny thing is that others who have seen his actual red eyes and have witnessed that he has magic almost assume that he is related to Razekiel since his father is never present. This is especially awkward since Atticus has a crush on Raz.

◄ This monthly contest for artists is a WIP contest. Show me a WIP that you have drawn for the contest and I will add you to the list below. It will be like a raffle. I'll random generate a number to pick out the winner(s.)

◄ You're only allowed to have 3 WIPs active at a time overall. If all I see is a bunch of WIPs and no finished entries from one person, I will start to question where their focus is. It's okay to draw plenty, but only three will count in the WIP contest.

◄ You can enter a WIP again for the next month if it isn't finished, but there has to be a substantial amount of progress for it to count.

◄ Finished entries count for two. Couple entries count for three. Any finished entries that have additional characters count for more.

◄ The amount that can be won ramps up based on participation.

◄ This is mainly a side contest to help motivate participation. If you want to be creative, I would love to see an autumn or winter scenario.

◄ Since I missed September and October, you can try out themes like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. What do you think the characters would do during these times?

◄ If you try out "first day in the school year" sort of themes, keep in mind that Orion is from a fantasy/elven setting. He wouldn't go to a modern school. He would have a private tutor. (Usually Jikal for reading/writing and then Quil for combat/hunting.) Atticus, however, would likely go to art school, college, or university.

◄ Just as a reminder, keep in mind that if Sanriel is put in any scenario that he cannot be living in a modern setting. He's ethereal/undead by then. If he's alive in an entry, the scenario cannot be modern. Orion and Atticus also haven't been born yet. Razekiel, Jikal, and Quil were also "teenagers" or children during this time. They cannot be adults while Sanriel is alive.

◄ In modern times, Razekiel does enjoy to snowboard. Same with Cesium and Atticus. Jikal usually prefers to park himself by a fireplace with books, but he also knows how to snowboard and will join if he's dragged along. The others don't have any experience at all, so results may vary. Quil would likely bundle Orion up in so many layers of warm clothing that he probably would just sink into the snow. Sanriel might just phase through the snow in confusion like a ghost or something. Jethro might be willing to try, but he may still have some fear of heights issues from when he was a demon imp. (Which would be a funny situation in itself.) Nysticus may just avoid the snow entirely or stay with Jikal.

◄ The above are just ideas. Any entries submitted during this time period will still count.

◄ If you want more potential ideas, feel free to ask and I'll throw out some more suggestions and/or give input as to how a character would react.

◄ All entries including ones that win anything in this side contest will still have a chance to win items in the main contest.

Summer Contest Results

This was pretty close. I must say that Solaris and Denham were very close as their entries had great qualities about them for very different reasons. ZuchiniMuumuu's entries were nice as well, but there were some factors to consider, such as missing details to characters like Razekiel's tattoo on his stomach. Further details can be explained if critique and advice is desired.

All prizes are distributed in a way so that there are no leftovers. Technically, Solaris and Denham are tied.

◄ Going to keep this simple. Draw a summer scenario with any of the characters. They can be going to the beach, swimming pools, going to the amusement park, playing in the park, or any other activity during summer.

◄ Living Sanriel cannot be seen in a modern setting. It had to be undead/wisp Sanriel.

◄ If Razekiel, Sanriel, Jikal, or Quil are drawn as children or teenagers, they also shouldn't be placed in a modern setting. In this scenario, Sanriel has to be alive. Keep in mind that Razekiel is the youngest among the four.

◄ Razekiel is playful, flirtatious, and likes to show off. Cesium is likely to compete playfully, but she isn't the showing off type in comparison. She and the others are likely amused by Raz's silly behaviour.

◄ Atticus can potentially be seen wearing swimming trunks, but he is likely the type to be drawing or painting under an umbrella while fully clothed. He isn't modest. It's just a preference.

◄ Jikal, in the other hand, is very modest and awkward in beach or swimming pool situations. Think about that and play around with it. He feels uncomfortable showing too much skin.

◄ Those are the main points. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the other characters if you need to know more.

◄ All entries for this side contest is eligible to win a prize in the main contest as well as the RNG roll in the monthly contest.

Help me help you. This helps me go towards increasing prizes for the main contest. Also, using the bump helps advertise the art contest a bit if an artist happens to be playing and sees the banners. You can also save the bump banner and don't have to quote me. I just want to see where some of my tank exposure if coming from.

◄ Make sure that the tank is actually glowing before you do any bumping. Don't try to cheat. It benefits no one if you try to cheat.

◄ If you're unable to play Booty Grab or refuse to, all I ask is for you to help support the tanks with a few bumps. Especially for Jikal's tank.

◄ Bi-Weekly: For Razumi's tank, I'd like to see a screenshot of your highest score. Since a different amount of fish glow at different times and buffs/debuffs factor in, you can submit a new screenshot if you gain a new high score. Every 2 weeks, the person with the highest score gets 250k. Sounds easy, right? This part of the BG contests are over.

◄ Monthly: For Jikal's tank, simply use the bump link provided in this thread so that I know where you're coming from. If I know that you're aware of the contest and using the necessary bump, I'll add you to the list. You have to use the contest's bump banner to count. I'll generate a random number to get the winner. At least try to support the tank as much as you can. I'll be watching. During this contest, 50% of the gold that Jikal is carrying will go to the winner at the end of the month, so support his tank! You can very well rake in a lot of gold from this if his tank does well. I also play other tanks and hit the 150k daily cap from time to time with Jikal, so what do you have to lose?
