XD

Graphic Designer / photographer / Co-op / reservation / printing here. Some days its a ton, some days it's a bit spaced out.
Heh heh. How many of use AREN'T at work? ninja
XD I think Gaia gets kids in high school and then hooks them when they get day jobs.
I didn't join til I was in college, but yeah...when you have a job in front of a computer all day and you get bored at work, there is Gaia, just sitting there...calling to you... gonk
I remember stopping for a year or so, and then in 2007 I was like "hummm I bet Gaia's halloween event is coming up.. must resist..." and then I was on it all the time again.
That's the problem. You just keep wondering about it. I've quit twice, but kept coming back for art inspiration. Now I'm getting rid of all my stuff to remove the temptation!

XD agreed. Though I was a freshman in college when i first joined Gaia in 2003. I'm now too old to be messing with it XD but i just..can't quit.

I took one of those "NO, i don't need this" breaks, resulting a loss of a lot of Gaia items, BUUUT that's how the cookie crumbles.

XD I know how you feel about being the office Graphic Designer / Gopher. I just began my job in November but I also did my internship with this same company in 2007, and I feel like I'm a little more, but still just a Glorified Office Intern of Graphic Design.

hahaha
Songjewel: I'm so excited about your contest too!

Both of these, Songjewel's and this SSS's Joint AC have great characters. *0* -can't wait-!

XD

I'm such an art goob. >.>;
Yep XD done that too. I gave my whole inventory away so I could focus on school... when school settled down, the temptation came back and I went on a path to get new items. I think it's normal to stay away for a year or so, but very hard to stay away forever! XP

I like when people come back though.

And thanks Cuidame, I can't wait to see some art! XP
*pops back on after doing some classwork*

*fluffs Sam* And you too! *noogies* And aich, Wisdom teeth - I remember that...!

@ Katch - I'm flattered you remember them, too! ^___^ It's always neat to see an artist years later and see how their art has changed and improved! I think that's one of my favorite things about having run a bunch of art contests over the years - seeing old faces and being amazed at how much people improve since I've met them!
Score for the art classes! biggrin
And much love for the monsters >> heart

Heeey, Songjewel! It has been a while! biggrin Great to see you're still about ^.^

*nods* And I think Song's right about refs - as long as there is some visual reference, and a good idea of the character, I think you're good to go heart

Hello Cuidame! ^.^

Heh, I have the benefit of working from home. I just (FinallY!) Got my master's degree, and now I'm working on a teaching certification, while doing art-stuffs on the side smile
I think I got hooked on Gaia when I was in College, and then especially when I had a desk job between undergrad and grad school when we had internet access >>. That was dangerous XD.

Congratulations on receiving your master's! I only plan on returning to work for my master's if i decide to teach, as well! smile And it's always good to have artsies on the side! >:] I put mine off for a really long time because of a guy! -thumbs down- But now I'm diving face first back into it! heart

Gaia is so dangerous for college kids. My graphic design classes would be so hard to make myself focus because i had the constant temptation to check Gaia. hahah ....Hmmm, I totally see why I'm this way now! hahah
@Sabin: Congrats on the degree!

At least it gives us some reason to focus on improving our art. That's my justification for the time I spent on Gaia. Look at how my art skills have grown, and all the great art I've gotten from my time on Gaia!

Anyway, I'm really going to focus on my other hobbies like knitting and making my jewelry. I hope that will keep me from running back to Gaia after I leave. I want to focus on developing my IRL connections a bit more.
I know I could definitely use more time to do everything, but right now Gaia is relevant to my interests - improving my art, getting art, and improving my design skills.
*smiles* I'm very proud of myself for finally having made it through out the other side with degree-in hand (and many scars from the gnashing teeth of my committee members who delayed the process years longer than it should have taken stressed )

But... yeah, without a PhD, I can't really teach at a major university, and Anthropology doesn't lend itself well to general jobs out there.

But I do think that despite the time-sink, and sometimes drama of Gaia, I really have to credit it for being one of the major factors that has driven me to improve my artwork smile And that is invaluable!

Not to mention, such wonderful experiences running art contests and generally enjoying the artwork received from them <3. It's a great way to be able to interact with original characters beyond RPng them and seeing peoples' takes on them smile
I've almost left Gaia a few times, but I keep finding another reason to stay.
*likes when people stay*
