There tend to be coverups of more recent Native American genes. My uncle (mom's sister's husband) didn't find out he was 1/4 Haida until he was nearly 50.

The worst part is that I don't even get the red hair that goes with a complexion like this. It's a boring sort of mid auburn.

Well neither of his parents were nearly that dark and their parents weren't, and his 4 sisters are all pale white chicks. So either his mom cheated or it's a weird gene leap.

Ah well, red hair is so hard to come by! I was born with straight jet black hair, all fell out when I was 1, grew back in curly and blond then faded to brown. I'm still waiting for it to turn red dammit!

Mine came in blonde. It's been getting progressively redder since. My mom had gorgeous dark red hair. Mine's lighter than hers, and browner. At least I'm not ginger.

I may :B Depends how sick I get of working on this piece I've started with 10 of my characters off a petsite.
Lining & sketching alone took lots of hours.
Flat color will be a pain.
Shading will drive me crazy.

I should actually go and fix all the mistakes I have so far, but I think I'd just hate myself.

I have a friend who's a ginger, orange hair, freckles, pale skin, everything xD (she's almost paler than I am! Damn you irish heritage!).
She's the only one in her immediate family, but not in her extended family. But the rest of her family has got dark hair.

How weird huh! Genes are weird. They thought I'd inherited the random blue-black straight hair that pops up in the Irish side of the family every few generations in a random girl. But alas, it fell out. sad
