|| Hey, I've been there. I know it really bites. You look around at all those people whose shops are overflowing, when their art is 10 times worse than yours and more expensive, and you think, "Oh damn, I can do this no problem." And when it doesn't quite work out like that, you feel lower than those kids selling badly scanned crooked stick figures. I'm not really sure what to say that would help, but I've learned something important from being let down in every shop I make: You're either an artist or you're not. If you are an artist, then you will find a million ways to improve your art, even when everybody else says it's terrible, and eventually it will be amazing, though you might never acknowledge that and just keep on working. But if you aren't an artist, there's no good shortcut. If you let yourself give up when other people dislike your art, or if you aren't committed to it, if you don't put your heart into it, it will show. It's important to think about what you want when dealing with such a passionate form of expression, just like in any relationship or serious endeavor.

Always a pleasure to see your art!

The great thing is, I know I've been improving. And the piece I'm working on now is turning out well.

Artistic Licence says:

|| That's good. (: Same here, it's just hard to be patient. x3

Ha, yeah.
Oh, well, haven't even opened the shop yet.

|| Why not?

Graphics from divine. I have a hard time making graphics because no pen tool + touchpad, and she makes pretty ones.

|| Oh cool! n_n You are getting better! You might want to save as a smaller file size though, if you're doing commissions. People like between 400 and 1500 pixels for avatar art, usually. The main reason to give a larger full view is if you have a lot of very fine details, and your art is mostly solid color.

Oh, god, I always forget to resize smaller. That's just the size I work in.

I think I'm going to stop highlighting anything but eyes and hair. It seems to turn out better.

Artistic Licence says:

|| Maybe. Some things are just shinier anyway.

Always a pleasure to see your art!

Yeah, but not most of the things I do. Nearly finished another freebie for someone.

Artistic Licence says:

|| Oo cool, you're on a roll!

I decided to do a bunch of freebies as a way of gearing up for my shop, since I only had two examples of my new style.

Artistic Licence says:

|| Sounds like a good idea! I'm going to try to force myself to sketch or paint at least one photograph per day. But as usual I'm procrastinating. xD

Always a pleasure to see your art!

I'm not high, just badly medicated...
