Are You Up For A Challenge?

What is this?

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I held a writing contest that did weekly prompt challenges.
The idea was not to win something awesome (though there were prizes,) but to improve on your work.
Recently I've been browsing dA and I've wanted to challenge myself a bit more. But I want to do something FUN with this challenge.
So I figured I'd ask around on Gaia and see if anyone was interested in an art challenge somewhat like the writing challenge I did awhile back.

So what's this challenge gonna be like?

Instead of a weekly challenge, I was thinking a monthly challenge.
The idea is to broaden your talents and step out of your comfort zone.
Each month artists will complete a piece of artwork based on the prompt and submit it for voting.
Voting will take place in a poll during the last week of the month.
The winner gets a showcase during the next month's prompt and perhaps some gold as well
(that's up for debate; I don't want this to be all about gold.)

What kind of art are you looking for?

Anything and everything.
Any kind of visual art is more than welcome. This is not about genre or style.
Any level of "expertise" is welcome as well.

Do we have to participate in every prompt?

Of course not, it'll be purely optional.

Will we be expected to do landscapes?

I was hoping to do a landscape prompt at some point.
I'm open to many prompt suggestions though, if this idea takes off.

Why not just hold a monthly contest?

Because I don't have the gold pool to do so.
That and I want people to join because they're looking to improve their art, not get paid.
Getting paid is great and all, but challenging yourself just for the sake of a challenge is good too.
Especially for someone who participates in prompts that don't really appeal to them or they've never done before.
Branching out is a great way to improve your art and open yourself up to more commissions.

Why can't you just do this by yourself and leave us out of it?

Well I could, but where's the fun in that?
Besides, I like meeting new artists and seeing ideas from other people.

For now, keep this thread active!
I'm going to leave this up for a while until I feel it's garnered some attention.
I don't want to put a lot of work into creating a thread and rules and such only to have no one interested.
So if this idea appeals to you, stick around! And tell all your artist friends too, the more people
we have interested in this, the better. :]

i just have this small little shop in a guild, and ive had literally one request, so havent had as much of a 'drive to draw' xD lol. I want to get better though, especially on stupid yet extremely important anatomy.

I'm super interested in doing this! x3 Could really use some practice considering I've just been 'doodling' lately. And yeah, as great as it is to get paid for art, it really should be focused on improvement and taking pride in the creation itself, not the incentive for the piece~
