She Is My Rifle
Hahah, I hardly consider that a rant. Just a legitimate, well-expressed opinion.
I agree that they're shady. I won't do any of the ones that I have to give out "accurate personal information" for. Its nearly equivalent to giving everyone your bank account pin. Identity theft is just far too real.
But the mobile ones, I don't mind. They're quick, easy, and the subscriptions, once cancelled, will never give you spam or a virus. I think people just need to be wary is all.
But I agree, I would love to get cash through more legitimate sponsorships, like buying a dvd or maybe even a movie ticket.
That movie ticket idea is great.

There's ways to outsmart the bad deals and get away with the cash and a cancelled subscription, but if these sponsers were the usual things we had an interest in we might not have to try and worm around 'em. I've heard people say "Oh, these offers are for people who were thinking about signing up anyway" too, but... That's not how advertising works. I'm sure the ad agency wouldn't be too thrilled if people were just redundantly going with them because they were heading that way anyway. That's not spreading the message.

Its murky, and reminds me of Krusty the Clown from The Simpsons who endorses everything. And I do not want Gaia to be like Krusty. Hence, protesty time!
