Hello and welcome to Debonair - Monkei's Art Contest! I hope you'll like my characters enough to draw them for some fantastic prizes listed below. Now, there are a lot of things to get through so I hope you'll be patient with me.Oh also, the art in the banners is by JHH.

I will start taking entries from now and the contest will close at 10.30pm GMT on the 7th of December.
Prizegiving will be on the 25th of December.
If you send in a WIP via PM to [Monkei] between now and the deadline, she will put you on a list and you will be allowed a WIP extension until 10.30pm on the 15th of December.
(End date is subject to extension at any time)
It will run for a long while because there are some good prizes here that I'm hoping to get quality art for. Second becase D.A.K. (linked to below) finishes on the 1st of November and I didn't want to get in the way of her entrants' deadlines and third because I thought it'd be cute if prize-giving was for christmas. <3

This is just to provide guidelines on how to draw those guys below. <3

My OCs:
Please feel free to be creative with their design and embellish their clothing etc. in your own style, as long as it's in character. I really enjoy seeing other artists' takes on my characters. For example you can add tattoos, piercings, change their costume, anything! I'm looking for creativity and individual style, which is why there is a "Best Creativity" prize. :]
New: It'd be awesome to see Sally as a pokemon trainer, although she would still be in her normal outfit, just with a pokebelt/poke-rucksack/pokedex/pokemon. She'd be a grass-type trainer, with Bulbasaur, Lombre, Tropius, Sunflora, Breloom and Cherubi.

Couples:
Asriel and Sally are not dating. However, they do have a vague older brother / younger sister relationship and are good friends, so it'd be nice to see some sort of sibling rivalry or having-fun-at-a-generic-location-together type picture. <3

Avatars:
Go with the feel of the avatar, is all I can really say. <3
And I know there's a Kinsaki avatar in there, but hey, I want more art of it, and I'm richer on Gaia than Kinsaki. xD
I love Phoenix Wright, Katamari Damacy, Final Fantasy and Pokemon. Themed pictures would be cool.
On a side note if you want me to outline a pose or emotion for any specific avatar, please do ask in the thread or PM me. A lot of them have their own themes that I can expand on.

Appearance: Straight, medium length teal hair with a side fringe (bangs). He has matching light turquoise eyes and a youthful yet masculine face. He has a pale complexion, and is of slim yet atheletic build. He is extremely tall, reaching a majestic 6ft 6. He wears an immaculate, ivory 3-piece suit and tan loafers on his feet.
Personality: He is proud but calm, liking to take care over his appearance and reputation. He is kind-hearted deep down, but doesn't like to show it often as he thinks it makes him seem soppy. He's very much a ladies' man. He can be quick to judge and has a sharp tongue. He enjoys having power and knowing that people depend on him. He loves to be the hero of the hour and receive attention and praise.

Race: Human
Appearance: Reaching a dwarfish 5ft 2, she is overshadowed by many. However her curvaceous figure more than compensates for what she lacks in height. With a 38-28-38, she is more than a head turner when she wants to be. Her hair, in a side parting, falls around her shoulders in black-brown semi-waves, framing a mildly tanned face with green-yellow eyes. Her favourite oufits combine bright colours with black (often green, pink or orange) and she enjoys punk/rock/ska music. From this, creativity with costume is encouraged. However, she will always have her ears pierced (lots of piercings, ask if you require specific refs) and she can sometimes have her lip pierced. She is a smoker, too, but cigarettes in the picture are optional.
Personality: Flirtatious and fun loving, confident and charismatic, she is liked by nearly everyone she meets. Always seen smiling it's hard not to be happy around her, especially as she feels that it is her duty in life to bring people a ray of sunshine, no matter how small or temporary it may be. She is a natural flirt, but an innocent one.

Are we allowed to submit panels/comics?
Absolutely, and they will be eligible for all prizes. <3

My friend's really good at colouring, and I like sketching. Are we allowed to collaborate?
Essentially, I have no problems with collaborations whatsoever as long as both of the artists involved are happy with the deal that they struck together. Similarly, if the piece of artwork wins a prize, I will send the prize to the account that submitted the entry form. From there, the splitting of the prize will be down to the two artists involved. Please do not try to put me in the middle of a squabble over prizes. If you do feel there will be a difficulty at the end of it, please do not enter a collaborative picture.

Who will be judging this contest?
Me! That's it. It's art for me of my characters, so I feel I have the most important opinion. Besides, if someone else tried to suggest something different I'd probably shout them down anyway.

You encourage creativity with your OCs, so can we mix and match items of your avatars?
No, please. Obviously, you're allowed to put individual flair on items and put extra detail on clothing etc., but each of these outfits was designed over a long period of time, with each item put in place purposefully. It would sort of ruin that for me if different items were put in or taken out etc.

So does that mean we can de-clutter avatars?
Well, yes, you can, but please don't remove too many items. I like my avatars with lots of items. </3

Can different versions of the same art be submitted? (Like sketch, lineart, CG, etc.)
I would suggest that if you're thinking of doing that, only submitting one of them (be it the sketch, lineart or colour) that you think is the best and best represents your artistic ability. Only one of the versions can win a prize, so it's pretty time wasting for everyone involved if you submit lots of versions of the same picture. Just do one version and make it worth-while.

Does a single drawing qualify for multiple categories?
It qualifies for everything it is eligible to (if that makes sense?). If it is a drawing of both Sally and Asriel done in a traditional media with a background, it will not qualify for Best Asriel, Best Sally, Best Avatar or Multiple Entries (unless that artist has already submitted other artwork), but will be eligible to win a prize from any of the others. Please ask if this needs clarification, or you would like to know which prizes your entry can win specifically.

Are we allowed to use vector techniques over stock photos?
Yes, as long as the stock photo is linked to in the comments section of the submission form. It is just giving the stock artist's work its due credit. :]

If people can enter WIP's, when does the actual judging occur?
The actual judging will take place between the 16th of December and the 24th of December (inclusive), with prizegiving and winner announcement on the 25th of December. :]
